Report via AOL.com -- A New York administrative judge recommended that Daniel Pantaleo, the New York City police officer at the center of Eric Garner's July 2014 death case, should be fired from the department, sources said Friday.
Now it is up to the city's police commissioner whether Pantaleo will keep his job.
The recommendation follows a departmental trial earlier this year.
The officer, who was seen in cellphone footage from the July 2014 incident with his arm around Garner's neck as the unarmed black man repeatedly said "I can't breathe," has been on administrative duty since the death.
The judge's recommendation comes days after Mayor Bill de Blasio was heckled on national television during a Democratic presidential debate with calls to "Fire Pantaleo."
It also comes weeks after the U.S. Justice Department said it would not bring federal civil rights or criminal charges against Pantaleo following a five-year investigation.
Garner, 43, who was asthmatic, was getting arrested on Staten Island on July 17, 2014, for allegedly selling loose cigarettes. A video a bystander took showed Pantaleo putting Garner in an apparent chokehold, which is prohibited by NYPD policies.
A father of six, Garner said he could not breathe 11 times during his arrest before going into cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
His death sparked national protests and the phrase "I can't breathe" became a rallying cry for police reform.
In August 2014, a medical examiner ruled Garner's death a homicide, saying the chokehold was the cause. A grand jury on Staten Island declined to indict Pantaleo in Garner's death.
Pantaleo has said that he performed a legal move called the "seatbelt" on Garner.

Report via TMZ -- A$AP Rocky was just released from jail while the judge in his Swedish assault case decide his fate. The announcement in court was met with cheer from onlookers. A$AP is free to leave Sweden while they await a verdict, which is expected August 14. The other 2 defendants are also released and free to leave. Prosecutors had asked that Rocky, who's spent a month in jail, remain there because he was a flight risk, but the judges disagreed. Reading between the lines, the fact that the judges are letting him leave the country may be a sign he won't be found guilty.

Report via TMZ -- Prosecutors just asked the judges to impose a 6-month jail sentence for A$AP Rocky, saying he should be judged harshly because they say he threw a bottle at the alleged victim. They also want to keep him behind bars pending the verdict -- which could take a week -- because they say he continues to be a flight risk.
Swedish prosecutors said President Trump has apparently tried to intervene again in the case, demanding that Rocky and the others from his crew in custody be released to a hotel. A spokesperson for prosecutors said they received a letter from the U.S. Embassy making the demand, which the prosecutors have rejected. The spokesperson said no country has ever made such a request in the past.

Report via TMZ -- Hostages huddled inside an Arizona convenience store banded together to subdue a man police say fatally shot a customer moments before ... bum-rushing the suspect and tackling him to the ground in a wild incident that was caught on video!!!
Footage from the intense standoff is insane ... you see the gunman pacing around an aisle when one of the hostages suddenly engages him, wrestling him to the ground. As the struggle continues, an employee rushes over and starts smashing the alleged killer over the head with a crate.
With the gunman subdued, more hostages got in on the action ... stomping, kicking and absolutely pummeling the man as he squirms on the floor.
The unreal scene went down May 9 at a Circle K gas station in Phoenix ... and the surveillance video was just entered into evidence in the alleged killer's murder trial.
Cops shot the alleged killer, 53-year-old Joel McClain Carson, who police say walked into the store and killed a customer with a gunshot to the back of their head.
In the video ... you see the gunman barking at an employee to lock the doors, then he barricades the entrance with a donut display ... all while holding a handgun.
Once the hostages overpowered the gunman, they ran to the exit, broke down the barricade, unlocked the door and got the hell outta Dodge.
Roughly an hour later, a SWAT team makes its move ... entering the store before shooting and injuring the alleged killer.
Carson faces a first-degree murder charge for the death of Efran Hernandez, a 24-year old.

KENNEDY HEIGHTS, Ohio (WKRC) - A man accused of firing shots at four people in a Kennedy Heights neighborhood turned himself in. Devonta Allen, 18, faces four counts of felonious assault.
Police say Allen was caught on video chasing after the four people on Tyne Avenue on July 25. He's accused of firing three shots at the victims, hitting two different vehicles the victims were in. No one was hit.
According to court papers, he can be heard saying "I don't like white people in my hood" on the video right before firing the shots.
Police say Allen turned himself in Monday night. He had an audiotaped statement admitting to shooting at the victims. However, he said they were armed and fired at him first.
Police say the video and statements from the victims and witnesses contradict Allen's claims.
Allen will appear in court Wednesday.
