A former Rikers guard says she was canned after a bad rap - a claim she tried to sneak a peek at Lil Wayne in lockup.

Amelia Negron, who is preparing a federal suit against the city, said union higherups forced her to falsely confess she was trying to star-gawk.

"I don't even like rap," said Negron, 33.

"I like rock and alternative music and didn't know much about him when they said I tried to see him. None of it's true."

What really happened March 10 is that she popped her head into the unit where the performer was being held to see a colleague, Negron said.

"The door to the area was unlocked, and so I went in to say hello, and that officer said, 'Hey, you can't be here. We've got a celeb here.' I said, 'Okay, no problem,' turned around and left," Negron said.

She said that, after the short exchange, her superiors claimed she was trying to cozy up to Weezy.

"We did nothing wrong, but we were threatened with criminal charges, transfers, suspensions," she said.

Correction Officers' Benevolent Association President Norman Seabrook told her he would take care of things if she just admitted she was spying on the "Lollipop" singer, Negron claimed.

Seabrook said that's a lie.

"I wasn't the one who went into an unauthorized area. That wasn't me; that was her," he said. "The only reason I got involved is because they were going to suspend her."

On April 19, the city Department of Correction fired Negron, claiming she had missed too many days of work.

Negron, who was hired in 2008, contends the missed days were for an injury she suffered at the firing range, when she was struck in the hand and chest by another officer's gunfire.

"I was injured, eventually had to have surgery on my left hand, and they knew that all along," she said.

But sources said Negron violated sick leave policy four times and had been out for 91 days during her short tenure.

Negron plans to file a federal suit, claiming she was the victim of discrimination and harassment.

A Correction Department spokesman noted Negron was a probationary employee and said her firing was "entirely appropriate."

Gucci Mane (Radric Davis), his booking agent Johnnie Cabbell (Hitt Afta Hitt Entertainment), and Debra Antney (So Icey Entertainment CEO) are facing another lawsuit over alleged concert no-shows.

The latest lawsuit was filed in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania by William Marshall (Marshall Productions) and Derrick Brown (Rockstar Entertainment). The two parties allege that Gucci’s representatives took two deposits of $13, 750.00 to book him for concerts in Pittsburgh last August that were never completed.

At the time, Gucci Mane was restricted from leaving the state of Georgia due to parole violations from a 2005 felony assault, which eventually resulted in him being sent back to prison for 12 months on November 12.

According to the lawsuit, Marshall and Brown claim “the defendants' engaged in a widespread scheme scheduling concerts they knew would not take place, including the concerts involving plaintiffs that are the subject of this complaint.”

Last year, Gucci Mane’s camp was the subject of intense media scrutiny regarding similar claims from other promoters in a 10-page investigative article by Ozone magazine founder Julia Beverly.

I am fully aware of the recent allegations which have been made about me and my company Hitt Afta Hitt Entertainment (HAH). I am a licensed and bonded entertainment booker and have been operating my company successfully for almost a decade,” Johnnie Cabbell told AllHipHop.com last December. “During my career, I have booked thousands upon thousands of shows and have worked with various promoters all over the country. I have maintained an impeccable track record and am operating within the confines of all applicable laws. I’ve always strived to do the best job I can possibly do and will continue to do that.”

The plaintiffs are seeking over $25,000 in damages.

At press time, a court date has not been set.

(AllHipHop News) Solar's ex-girlfriend and former 7 Grand Records employee Tasha Denham has lashed out at Solar over his alleged abusive treatment towards Guru.

Denham explained her claims in an extensive interview with HipHopDx.com.

"There was one night we were at Guru's house," Denham said of an altercation between Guru and Solar.

"I was about three months pregnant at the time. Guru kept defending himself. Guru actually stood up and kind of got in Solar's face about it" Denham stated. "Next thing I know, Solar punched him in the face. From that point in time, he just started kicking him and hitting him."

"Guru was fighting back, he wasn't just sitting there being a punk, but at the same time, Guru had severe asthma. He didn't have his inhaler. He started really hyper-ventalating and really having a hard time, and Solar kept beating him. It wasn't a fight anymore, it was beating him. I felt that it was so bad that I got in between the two of them and broke it up, because I knew he wouldn't hit me of course. At that point in time, I was pregnant with his child....that's probably one of the first times I was like, 'Wow, this relationship is really unhealthy. It's a really sick relationship.' After that, if I didn't physically see it myself...I saw [Guru] punched in the face numerous times with no provocation. It [would just be] that he'd get upset with something Guru would say and punch him in the face. I know he knocked a tooth out of Guru's. I know he gave him a black eye [so Guru would] have to wear glasses for photo-shoots and concerts."

Additionally, Denham says that Solar stopped Guru from connecting with his loved ones, family members and friends. He allegedly would even take Guru's cell phone from him as well.

As previously reported, the family of deceased rapper Guru have announced plans to hold a public memorial in his honor.

Guru, born Keith Elam, died of cancer at the age of 43, on April 19th.

According to reports, the rapper was cremated shortly after the family came in possession of his body.

Plans for a memorial are being planned for July 17th, Guru's birthday, according to Guru's sister, Patricia Elam.

According to Patricia, the family is also planning to launch a website that honors Guru's legacy, while posting official information surrounding the emcee.

Meanwhile the family continues to criticize Guru's former partner Solar of mishandling the release off information surrounding Guru's health condition.

In a recent interview with MTV, Patricia said that Guru's nephew Justin heard about his uncle's health via the Internet, while Guru's nine-year-old son learned of his father's death over the radio, while riding in a car.

"[My son] Justin found out on the Internet and called me. I had to call my dad," Patricia told MTV News. "[Keith's 9-year-old son] KC found out riding in the car, hearing it on the radio. That's not right if you care about someone. That's not how you treat them. My brother would never have wanted us to find out that way. Never in a million years. Especially his son. Come on, now."

Patricia said that the body was released to Solar, who was acting as Guru's healthcare proxy.

Patricia labeled the experience a "nightmare" and revealed that Guru's brother had to call various funeral homes in search of the rapper's body.

"My son Justin was looking online and saw something that the body was going to be cremated," Patricia continued. "My father was calling the hospital looking for the body and they were like, 'We released it to the health-care proxy.' Luckily my other brother happened to be in New York on something unrelated and he started calling funeral homes in the area, if you can imagine. Fortunately the third one he called was the right one. He said, 'Listen, I'm the brother of Keith Elam, do not release that body to anyone but me.' Thankfully he was able to get there in time."

M.I.A. has made the unusual step of asking fans to name her forthcoming third album. On Monday, April 26, the 34-year-old singer-songwriter/rapper posted the following message on Twitter, "MIA TRACKLIST FOR LP COMING JUNE "YET UNTITLED" OPEN TO SUGGESTION AT @_M_I_A_ #miap4k," alongside a picture of the tracklisting.

The follow-up to 2007's 'Kala' is produced by dubstep whizzkid Rusko and already sounds like it will be as genre-busting and unconventional as her previous offerings -- the pair recorded the heartbeat of M.I.A.'s one-year-old son for one track.

Speaking to BBC 6Music backstage at the Coachella festival earlier this month, Rusko said. "It sounds like a rock band trying to play dubstep songs. The whole idea of the record was to freak people out. It's crazy. It's like mad distorted and hectic." He went on to say they considered calling the album 'Complications' on account of the convoluted recording process, before deciding to throw the title open to fans.

Meanwhile, M.I.A. has caused controversy with the video for new track 'Born Free', posted on her official website on April 25. Directed by controversial French film maker Romain Gavras -- who made the 2008 Justice tour documentary 'A Cross the Universe' -- the nine-minute-long film features images of law enforcement officers wearing American flags beating, arresting and brutally executing people with red hair, presumably a metaphor for oppressed minorities. It has been banned from Youtube, but is still available on BooBooTV.

Pop star Shakira is expected to lend her celebrity to the fight against Arizona's new immigration law.

Sources said Tuesday the Latina entertainer, perhaps best known for her hit song "Hips Don't Lie," is scheduled to meet with Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon and other city officials at 3 p.m. Thursday at City Hall to discuss the law.

Vice Mayor Michael Nowakowski, the council's only Hispanic, said he will then escort Shakira to various sites around Phoenix to meet with children and families who could be impacted by the law, which makes it a state crime to be in the country illegally.

Finally, Shakira, a Colombia native, will visit the state Capitol, where protesters have been camped out since Gov. Jan Brewer signed the legislation into law on Friday.

"Shakira supports the mayor and likes his message about the bill," said Gordon Chief of Staff Debra Stark, who has been arranging the visit.

The idea to release a fragrance with handcuffs on the packaging was not Akon's idea after all. In fact, the "Smack That" entertainer/mogul has filed suit against former business partners that he says used his likeness for their own scent.

In documents filed earlier this month, sources say Akon was in talks to develop his own scent, but was met with a surprise when he found out perfume executives formed Konvict Cosmetics International and started selling a scent called Konvict without his prior approval.

Combating the other Konvict, Akon is now demanding that all production of the scent be stopped.

While they have not commented since Akon's filing, Konvict Cosmetics International issued a statement in March, claiming to be excited over the scent.

"We are excited and honored to launch Konvict with AKON which we project strong sales in this celebrity fragrance market," said Jack Aini, Managing Director of Konvict Cosmetics, International, LLC.

According to Aini, ten percent of all proceeds will be donated to the Konfidence Foundation, founded to bring public awareness of the conditions in Africa and providing underprivileged African youth with access to learning, recreational environments and wellness services.

Dez Bryant

Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland apologized Tuesday for using ``poor judgment'' during his line of questioning in an interview with an NFL prospect leading up to this weekend's draft.

The apology comes in the wake of a report on Yahoo! Sports that cited Ireland as asking Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant if his mother was a prostitute.

Bryant's background and his mother's lifestyles have been highly scrutinized by many NFL teams over the last several months, but Bryant said in the Yahoo! Sports article that Miami took the interview process to a different level as a result of the one question.

``I got mad -- really mad -- but I didn't show it,'' Bryant told the website.

Less than five hours after the story first appeared on the website, Ireland issued a statement that he apologized to Bryant by phone Tuesday as a result.

``My job is to find out as much information as possible about a player that I'm consider drafting,'' Ireland said. ``Sometimes that leads to asking in-depth questions.

``Having said that, I talked to Dez Bryant and told him I used poor judgment in one of the questions I asked him. I certainly meant no disrespect and apologized to him.

``I appreciate his acceptance of that apology and I told him I wished him well as he embarks on his NFL career.''

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello did not issue any elaborate response on the matter, writing in an e-mail that ``we are aware that Jeff called Dez Bryant and apologized.''

Asked if the matter is closed, or whether it will be investigated with more depth, Aiello wrote, ``I have nothing further to add.''

Ireland, entering his third year as Miami's general manager, works in conjunction with vice president of football operations Bill Parcells while preparing for the NFL Draft.

During the draft process, prospects undergo an intense evaluation by most teams that includes criminal background checks, thorough investigations into their past and multiple one-on-one interviews with the players.

Teams are allowed to bring 30 prospects to their headquarters for predraft visits. Bryant met with the Dolphins at their Davie facility at the beginning of April, which is when the interview with Ireland took place.

The same article on Yahoo! Sports' website also cites several situations when other NFL teams have asked potentially insulting questions, bringing into question whether the league's predraft analysis of players has gone too far.

Three examples, aside from Ireland's question to Bryant, are given:

• Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was asked during an interview with another NFL team at the Scouting Combine whether he plays in a G-string or a jock strap.

Florida State safety Myron Rolle, who didn't play football at Florida State during his senior season to instead accept a Rhodes Scholarship, was asked by the Tampa Bay Bucs what it felt like to ``desert his team.''

• Running back Toby Gerhart was reportedly asked if being a white running back made him feel ``entitled.''

Bryant was the 24th selection of this year's NFL Draft. The Dolphins, who were initially scheduled to pick at No. 12, traded down and picked defensive end Jared Odrick with the 28th overall pick

Plies and Young Jeezy have an obvious respect for each other. If you know either one of the Southern street champs, you know they won't do collaborations with just anybody.

Plies just released the song "Look Like," featuring Jeezy and Fabolous, which comes on the heels of the underground record "So Bad" that leaked last year and the Snowman's current club anthem "Lose My Mind."

"For me, bruh, to have an opportunity to create the situation I created with my brother and to have an artist from a record-selling standpoint and accomplish what the Snowman accomplished and to reach out to us and allow us to know there was a situation he wanted us to be a part of, it speaks a lot to what we gained and built in this business," Plies said of being on "Lose My Mind." "It speaks a lot of him as a person. A lot of times in this game, a lot of cats can respect you and be scared to show you they respect you. I take my hat to him for it. It was my job to deliver him what I call an 'antique' verse and watch the record respond out of the gate like it is in the clubs and in the streets. I think we got a hell of a situation.

"He hit me the other day, and I told him he has a song that I consider to be a street antique," Plies added. "To pick and choose the records we do is the most important thing. I always told myself from day one: I'll never be a music whore when it came to this business. I always wanted to make sure I did in my heart what I felt was the right things to do. To get myself in a financial space where I don't have to make desperate decisions, I feel we accomplished that thus far. I'm gonna try to continue to make more right moves than wrong moves."

Although the version of "Hey Daddy (Daddy's Home)" that appeared on Raymond v. Raymond doesn't feature Plies' verse that rocked on radio this winter, the Florida native didn't have anything negative to say about working with Usher.

"It was good," Plies said about the experience. "I was on my way to New York. My brother actually got the call. They say they needed the record back in a couple of hours. I didn't hear the record. My brother, he didn't have to let me hear it. He said, 'It's a go, bruh.' I got the record, they called back, said they needed it in an hour. Ran to the studio, had my assistant push my flight back. We heard the record; we felt the record was great."

Royce Da 5'9 let the cat out of the bag during his interview with On Air Idiots. Slaughterhouse will be joining Eminem's Shady Records.

Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, Crooked I and Royce in the booth with Em should produce some ill music.

Royce explained that Slaughterhouse will be looking to gain a larger audience after becoming an underground favorite. He assures the group won't leave their core audience behind in the process.

Royce expressed his opinion on Guru's passing.

"We lost a legend and I don't feel like it's a big enough deal on the internet. I think people should give it the same light as when Biggie got killed. Because he was as influential from his own lane"

Nickel Nine went on to talk about his friendship with Em, Detroit rappers uniting and his new mixtape 'Bar Exam 3' which drops May 31.
