Radio legend Troi Torain (STAR) always delivers hard-hitting objective truth. As a culture critic he is vicious, as a businessman he is relentless, as a luminary he is un-matched.

Considered radio pioneers by many, Star & Buc Wild have set precedents on the urban landscape and were recently inducted into News One's "Top 20 Black Radio Jockeys Of All Time."

Star & Buc Wild made the national stage on MTV (1999) but it was their radio show on New York's Hot 97 (2000 - 2003) that secured their place in Hip-Hop history.

Star & Buc Wild's resume includes The Source magazine, MTV Networks, Hot 97, Power 104.1, Power 105.1, Pulse 87, Hip-Hop Weekly magazine, Vladtv, Thisis50, 100.3 The Beat and shot97.com and VH1 (Reality Television).

This clip is from their LIVE show (12noon -- 2pm) on http://shot97.com.

It took several months, but Lil Wayne has finally apologized to the family of Emmett Till for his offensive lyrics in Future's song, "Karate Chop."

"Pop a lot of pain pills/Bout to put rims on my skateboard wheels/Beat that p*ssy up like Emmett Till," Wayne rapped in the song, which leaked onto the internet back in February.

As we previously reported, Till's family was very upset by the lyrics. The 14-year old boy was brutally murdered in Mississippi after whistling at a white woman in 1955.

12350053499?profile=original

After waiting months for an apology from Wayne that never came, Till's family decided they would would attempt to get Mountain Dew to drop the Young Money CEO.

12350070865?profile=original

"Don't do the Dew. Stop buying it. Stop lining his pockets,Airickca Gordon-Taylor, Director of the Mamie Till Mobley Memorial Foundation, said in a recent video.

12350071079?profile=original

Today Wayne finally issued an apology. Read it below.

Dear Till Family:

As a recording artist, I have always been interested in word play. My lyrics often reference people, places and events in my music, as well as the music that I create for or alongside other artists.

It has come to my attention that lyrics from my contribution to a fellow artist’s song has deeply offended your family. As a father myself, I cannot imagine the pain that your family has had to endure. I would like to take a moment to acknowledge your hurt, as well as the letter you sent to me via your attorneys.

Moving forward, I will not use or reference Emmett Till or the Till family in my music, especially in an inappropriate manner. I fully support Epic Record’s decision to take down the unauthorized version of the song and to not include the reference in the version that went to retail. I will not be performing the lyrics that contain that reference live and have removed them from my catalogue.

I have tremendous respect for those who paved the way for the liberty and opportunities that African-Americans currently enjoy. As a business owner who employs several African-American employees and gives philanthropically to organizations that help youth to pursue their dreams my ultimate intention is to uplift rather than degrade our community.

Best,

Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr.
Lil Wayne

Video After The Jump

The woman Jason Collins dated and was engaged to had no idea he was gay. Carolyn Moos was Collins' fiancee until he ended their relationship of eight years in 2009.

"It's very emotional for me as a woman to have invested 8 years in my dream to have a husband, soul mate, and best friend in him. So this is all hard to understand," Moos told TMZ

Former basketball player and Collins' ex-fiancee Carolyn Moos

Collins, an NBA veteran player made the announcement Mondays that he was a homosexual.

12350062093?profile=original

Chris Broussard

ESPN's Chris Broussard, a devout Christian said he thought homosexuality was a sin during a discussion about Collins on "Outside the Lines."

"I'm a Christian. I don't agree with homosexuality. I think it's a sin," said Broussard. "As I think all sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman is. If you're openly living in unrepentant sin, whatever it may be. Not just homosexuality. Adultery, fornication, premarital sex between heterosexuals. I believe that's walking in open rebellion to God and to Jesus Christ."

Later that night Broussard clarified his statement

"Today on OTL, as part of a larger, wide-ranging discussion on today's news, I offered my personal opinion as it relates to Christianity, a point of view that I have expressed publicly before," he explained. "I realize that some people disagree with my opinion and I accept and respect that. As has been the case in the past, my beliefs have not and will not impact my ability to report on the NBA. I believe Jason Collins displayed bravery with his announcement today and I have no objection to him or anyone else playing in the NBA."

ESPN also released a statement late Monday:

We regret that a respectful discussion of personal viewpoints became a distraction from today’s news. ESPN is fully committed to diversity and welcomes Jason Collins’ announcement.

Video After The Jump

Mobb Deep rapper and producer extraordinaire Havoc will be releasing his third solo album, 13, on May 7th. In addition to features by Royce Da 5'9, Twista, Styles P and Raekwon, Hav also got in the lab with Lloyd Banks for "Life We Chose."

The duo sit down with Nature Sounds to talk about the record.

12349968880?profile=original

"You could put Banks on any record. He'll kill anything," Havoc said. "But that one in particular it just had like a real hard sound to it. I was like 'yo, let me try to get the homie Banks on there.' We both from Queens and all that. It was just one of those records."

12350069280?profile=original

"The beat was crazy without question," Banks added. "[Havoc's] beats get you in different modes, that's when you can just go in andv start writing immediately. It was reminiscent of so many different records that I've head. Sometimes it's like that [but] you can't put your finger on it. That's what you get with Hav because he's been recording for generations the same way I've been. I know all the way back from break beats to now with the new clubby sounding beats. But what we do the best is somewhere in between. And that's what this sound is...straight gritty."
