Today it became evident why Angie Martinez left her gig at Hot 97 after 15 years. Clear Channel has announced the hiring of the "Voice of New York."

Angie will now host afternoons on Power 105.1 in New York and Midday's on Miami's 103.5 The Beat. This is a huge coup for Clear Channel. Angie is highly respected throughout the industry and is known for nailing down interviews with everyone from Jay Z to 50 Cent.

"I am grateful to the Emmis family for my time with the company and the immeasurable way that it has shaped my life," Angie wrote on Instagram. "We made history together in so many ways and I will cherish those memories and my friendships forever. This was one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to make but ultimately it is time to move on, to grow and to be challenged in new ways. Saying goodbye is always emotional and bitter sweet but I am extremely excited about the future. Thank you HOT97 and most importantly....the listeners... for an unimaginable journey."

Congrats to Angie on her new gig!

The fallout surrounding Trinidad James' comments about Atlanta running New York musically continues. As we previously reported, Maino responded to the comments by letting James know he wasn't going to let them slide. This morning the Brooklyn, New York emcee called into Hot 97 to explain his point of view and demanded an apology from Trinidad and said he needed to be disciplined.

"He's gotta apologize to New York City," Maino said. "He's gotta apologize to my city. He's gotta apologize to Brooklyn. He's got to apologize to Harlem. Because he offended us, disrespected us in our city. People paid you to come here. They didn't pay you to disrespect them."

Video After The Jump

Prominent New York City radio personality DJ Mister Cee has resigned from his job at Hot 97. The resignation comes on the heels of allegations that Cee solicited sex from cross dresser/internet personality Bimbo Winehouse.

A video was released today by Winehouse. It includes audio of him discussing prices for sex with someone believed to be Mister Cee.

Bimbo Winehouse

Cee signed off today after 20 years with Hot 97. Read what he had to say below.

It is not a mystery that the past two years I've been through a lot," he said on the air Wednesday when announcing his resignation. When you dealing with corporate America, and you dealing with a station you love as much as I love this station, you don't want to put them through this … I've been thinking about this day for a long time. I never want to be in a situation where I'm pushed out. I've been at this station for 20 years, since 1993. If I want to go out, allow me to say I'm going out. And the station is allowing me to have that, and I appreciate that. Ain't nobody perfect man. And I'm far from perfect. I've made my mistakes, but when it affects the people that you love, the people that you come up with … I'm just gonna move on.

This is the fourth time in the last two years that Cee has run into problems stemming from soliciting sex on the streets of New York.

In May of this year he was arrested for trying to pay an undercover male cop for sex. In March 2011, he was caught by police receiving oral sex a cross-dressing prostitute in a car. He also pleaded guilty six months earlier to the same offence.

Hot 97 bid the DJ farewell in a statement:

"Due to some personal circumstances that have become public, after 20 years of service, Mr Cee has chosen to resign," Hot 97 general manager Alexandra Cameron said.

Video After The Jump

Things got extremely awkward recently when Joe Budden crossed paths with Consequence in between their interviews at Hot 97.

The tension between the two "Love & Hip Hop New York" co-stars has been bubbling ever since Cons said some negative things about Joe in interviews with The Breakfast Club and Vlad TV.

While at Hot 97 yesterday Joe confronted Cons to see what all the talk was about. Joe said he wasn't used to seeing people on a show one day then giving a negative interview about him the next.

12349843661?profile=original

Cons placed the blame on Raqi Thunda, saying she had instigated things with disparaging remarks about Joe. Cons also said he was gassed up in the interviews by the hosts which led to him saying slick sh*t about Joe.

Check out the confrontation below. Who backs down in your opinion?

Nicki Minaj isn't having her best week. First Steven Tyler criticized her skills as a judge on American Idol, which caused a big uproar. Then the sales figures for Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded - The Re-Up came in at less than 35,000 for the first week.

Then yesterday, Hot 97 program director Ebro said Peter Rosenberg ended her career when he criticized her earlier this year for going pop with records like "Starships."

12349691462?profile=original

Ebro says he got a call from the Young Money star yesterday regarding his comments. Among other things she called him a fake cornball and told him to never play her music again.

Should Nicki be trying to patch things up with with program directors instead of chewing them out?
