Ezekiel Elliott is taking the NFL to court, with the backing of the NFLPlayers's Association, who have filed a lawsuit over the 6-game suspension he is currently appealing.
The suspension was handed down in August based on Elliot's alleged abuse of an ex-girlfriend, although he was never arrested and no charges were filed by the Columbus, Ohio Police Department.
In court documents filed by the NFLPA, they claim the 6 game suspension "threatens irreparable harm to [Elliott's] season, career and reputation."
In addition, TMZ reports that the NFLPA points out that Elliot's accuser, Tiffany Thompson, was deemed unreliable by league investigator Kia Roberts.
Thompson "was not credible in her allegations of abuse and there was insufficient corroborating evidence of her incredible allegations to go forward with any discipline against Elliott," Roberts summarized in her report.
The Player's Association also point out a list of inconsistencies on Thompson's part.
-- Thompson lied to investigators and encouraged her friend (a witness) to lie to police
-- Thompson destroyed relevant evidence from her cell phones
-- Thompson changed her account of critical events repeatedly
-- Thompson considered extorting Elliott with alleged sex videos and took steps to effectuate such a plan
Elliot was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2016 draft by the Cowboys out of Ohio State. He was a First Team All-Pro in his rookie season.
A Georgia cop has been placed on administrative duties, pending an internal investigation after video surfaced of a July of 2016 DUI traffic stop, where he tries to calm a nervous white driver be telling her she didn't need to worry because police only kill African Americans.
The woman told Lt. Greg Abbott that she was afraid to reach for the mobile phone in her lap because she had seen too many videos of motorists being shot by cops.
"But you're not black. Remember, we only kill black people," Abbott responds. "Yeah. We only kill black people, right? All the videos you've seen, have you seen white people killed?"
The video was obtained by WSB-TV through an open records request.
"We saw the video and we're going to deal with it," Cobb County Chief Mike Register told WSB. "No matter what context it was said in, it should not have been said."
Abbott's attorney responded to the video via a statement to TMZ: "He was attempting to de-escalate a situation involving an uncooperative passenger. In context, his comments were clearly aimed at attempting to gain compliance by using the passenger's own statements and reasoning to avoid making an arrest.”
**UPDATE**
Abbott has been canned from his job with the Cobb County Police Department.
“There’s really no place for these types of comments in law enforcement," Cobb County Chief Mike Register said during a news conference Thursday. "I don't know what was in his heart, but I know what came out of his mouth. In no context can I tolerate this type of language."
