Robert Earl Davis, Jr. aka DJ Screw is being recognized by the University Of Houston for his ground breaking work.

According to Ozone, the University has acquired the DJ Screw Sound Recordings Collection, which includes more than 1,000 vinyl records owned by the late DJ Screw. Most of the records were donated by Screw's father Robert Earl Davis Sr.

DJ Screw is famous for creating the chopped and screwed sound of slowing music down to drastically alter it's original sound. Screw also started the Screwed Up Click. A Houston rap collective that included Z-Ro, Trae Tha Truth, Lil' Keke, Fat Pat, Big Hawk, Big Pokey, Botany Boyz and many more.

Currently being cataloged, the collection will be open for use by researchers in 2013. From March 19 – Sept. 21, 2012, selections from the collection will be on display in the M.D. Anderson Library as part of the exhibit DJ Screw and the Rise of Houston Hip Hop. In conjunction with the exhibit, a conference exploring the unique music and culture of Houston hip hop will be held March 27 and 28, 2012, presented jointly by the University of Houston Libraries, the HERE Project at Rice University, African American Studies at the University of Houston, and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts at the University of Houston.

Kreayshawn and V-Nasty did such an effective job dissing Officer Ricky, that he's throwing out threats. And not your typical rap diss type threats.

HipHopWired is reporting that in an upcoming issue of XXL, the former correctional officer is talking reckless to the "Gucci Gucci" rapper.

I cant wait to slap the sh*t out of whoever carries her bags,” says Ross. “And I hope it's her n*gga. Dirty b*tch. You better know the f*ck you talking about. I'll pay 50K to mess up your whole week.

This all started when Kreayshawn said the officer was a fake during a Cosmic Kev freestyle.

She later backtracked and denied dissing anyone during an MTV interview last month.

"I've never, ever intentionally dissed anybody my whole career, and I don't do that personally with friends either," she said at the time. "I'm not like a person to go against anyone or anything. So hey, no offense to you Rick Ross. There's no Rick Ross offensive things going on in there, even though it sounds like it."

Less than a week later a video surfaced of Kreayshawn watching her MTV denial with some friends, then going off on how fake Officer Ricky is. Questioning whether or nor he can find his d*ck because he's so fat.

Officer Ricky has obviously been paying attention because the two camps had a brief run in on the red carpet of the VMAs, held August 28. Security had to separate Kreayshawn's manager Stretch, from MMG.

It's not really a good look to beef with a female is it?

Rappers Paul Wall and Baby Bash had to spend a night in an El Paso jail after being popped for weed Saturday.

The People's Champ and Bash were charged with possession of marijuana in a quantity of less than 2 oz. They both posted bail of $300 and were released.

Immediately after being released Bash went on twitter to rant about the arrest, and the police.

"Ain't 2much worse than a HOE ASS PUNK EL PASO COP that abuses his authority, jus cuz me and Paul wall are artists! Only GEEKS and fools who don't have any spine abuses AUthority! But I'm back in the FLESH feelin so FRESH, out the tank mang," Bash wrote. "I'm not here to diss ALL police, they have a tuff gig and I respect that! BUT u have the ONE or TWO that will disrespect & abuse the power cuz maybe they got picked on in high school alot and now have a chip on they're shoulder, and that's exactly wut happened to Us, all we did was SMELL like weed and wen he couldn't find it and we didn't snitch on who sparked it he got overdramatic and took us in! Wall seemed to take the whole incident in stride.

"Fresh out the El Paso County jail wit @BabyBash @BIGGROY in the same tank they held Willie Nelson/Johnny Cash," Wall posted on twitter, including a picture of himself handcuffed in the back of a police car.

Videos And Pics After The Jump

(CNN) -- Al Qaeda's deadly attack on America 10 years ago solemnly reverberated Saturday on the eve of the anniversary, as Americans remembered the trauma and police stood guard from coast to coast amid ongoing fears of terror attacks.

President Barack Obama and the first lady visited Arlington National Cemetery outside Washington to pay their condolences to families mourning the loss of family members who served in the military.

They visited a section of the vast cemetery where people who served in Iraq and Afghanistan are buried. They embraced a young woman and walked hand in hand down a row of graves.

Obama proclaimed this weekend, Friday though Sunday, as National Days of Prayer and Remembrance and will be attending memorial services at the attack sites in New York, Washington and western Pennsylvania.

He also called on Americans to honor the victims of the terrorist attacks through activities such as prayer, memorial services, the ringing of bells and evening candlelight vigils.

"They wanted to terrorize us, but, as Americans, we refuse to live in fear," Obama said in his weekly address Saturday.

"Yes, we face a determined foe, and make no mistake -- they will keep trying to hit us again. But as we are showing again this weekend, we remain vigilant. We're doing everything in our power to protect our people. And no matter what comes our way, as a resilient nation, we will carry on."

Obama said the "United States must not relax its counterterrorism efforts in the weeks and months that follow."

A solemn memorial service at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York included the recitation of the names of 343 firefighters who died at ground zero.

Patrick Mate Lyons, who was born Oct. 7, 2001, read an open letter to his father, Patrick, one of the casualties.

"I want you to know that Mommy is doing a great job of loving me and raising me in a happy home," Patrick said. "I play flag football in the same league as you, and in the same position as you, as quarterback. In baseball, I pitch, just like you did. I really like it when people compare me to you."

Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano said he recalled seeing a firefighter searching for his sister, who was killed. "It was then that the magnitude of the loss ... really began to sink into me. I realized the victims and their loved ones formed a far wider community than just the fire department."

Retired New York firefighter Rocco Chierichella recalled then-President George W. Bush's visit to ground zero on Sept. 14, 2001.

Chierichella yelled for Bush to speak louder to crews. "I can hear you, the rest of the world hears you," Bush said to cheers. "And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon."

Chierichella told CNN that firefighters who arrived after the first World Trade Center tower was hit "didn't know this was an act of war." But they knew they were in a "war zone" after the second strike. "These firefighters didn't know what to expect (next)."

Meanwhile, about 5,000 people joined hands in an unbroken chain along Manhattan's West Side waterfront to remember the attacks.

"I felt it was important to recall and celebrate the generosity of spirit that united our community, city and nation," event organizer Julie Menin said.

"I am delighted by the overwhelming and immediate outpouring of support by individuals and companies who contributed so generously to the success of this living memorial. Each participant is making a very personal statement. Yet by their individual presence, they are a multitude becoming one."

At the Pentagon, Bush and his wife, Laura, laid a wreath of flowers by the 9/11 stone. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen also attended.

Bush also attended the dedication of the Flight 93 memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. He was expected to join Obama in New York on Sunday.

Bush gave an emotional speech, retelling the story of how the passengers of Flight 93 made the decision to take on their captors, losing their lives so that others could be saved.

He called their action the first great counteroffensive of the war on terror.

"One of the lessons of 9/11 is that evil is real. And so is courage," Bush said. Theirs was "one of the most courageous acts in American history," he said.

Former President Bill Clinton echoed Bush's sentiments.

"They saved the Capitol from attack, they saved who knows how many lives," Clinton said at the site.

Also Saturday, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie helped dedicate the Empty Sky Memorial at Liberty State Park in Jersey City. The memorial, which overlooks the Manhattan skyline and is in the shape of two rectangular towers, displays the name of 746 New Jersey residents who died in the attacks.

A lot of you probably already know the song "Renegade" from Jay-Z's album 'The Blueprint' was originally recorded by Royce Da 5'9 and Eminem.

Eminem eventually offered the song to Jay-Z, and it ended up becoming a classic Hov and Slim collaboration.

On the 10th anniversary of 'The Blueprint's' release Royce looks back with Vibe at a song he says changed his career for the better.

“Renegade” started out as a song me and Eminem were doing for my Rock City album. We thought the track was crazy. Em asked if I was cool with giving [Jay] that one, and I said, "Hell yeah!" I'm glad, because a classic record came of it.

When I heard Em and Jay's version, I was like, “Yo, this shit is going to be one of those ones.” It was incredible. Whenever I listen to something, I try to soak up as much game as I can and use it for inspiration. [Jay-Z’s version] actually taught me about my writing style and how to bring records home better. We weren’t in the same lane, but Jay took it where I should’ve taken it. It helped me grow.

But I don't know if it was a competition [between Eminem and Jay-Z], per se. I'm sure when Jay got Em's vocals, it pushed him to do what he did—we’re talking about two of the greats on one song. Eminem was making classic music, but to finally collaborate with the other guy putting up numbers, Detroit saw that Em was respected by his peers. It was a great look for Detroit. And a smart move by Jay to fuse what's great in hip-hop. I'm glad that song was on that album, because I knew people were going to be talking about it years later. I feel I helped with something so great, even though I played the smallest part.

J. Cole is being forced to slow down his hectic schedule temporarily as he recovers from a broken leg.

Details are scarce as to how exactly the Roc Nation rapper injured himself. Cole mentioned the injury on twitter, but didn't go into much detail.

"Ankle on swole. This is a minor setback, yo, still in all we livin...," Cole wrote.

Cole was supposed to perform at Orlando's Beacham Theatre Saturday and Revolution in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday. Those dates have already been rescheduled.

Live Nation also issued a statement via the Broward-Palm Beach New Times.

Unfortunately, J. COLE, broke his leg last night so his Florida shows have all been postponed. This includes Sunday, September 11th at Revolution Live in Ft. Lauderdale. Revolution will honor all current tickets for the new date being scheduled in October. Those requesting refunds for tickets purchased should do so at point of sale.

Cole is scheduled to stay on the road through December touring the U.S. and Europe. He'll probably have to wear a cast on his leg for a few of those.

Label politics are best avoided if you're an artist. But for whatever reason Young Jeezy finds himself caught up in a puzzling situation regarding the release of his new album.

Jeezy can't seem to get a solid release date for 'Thug Motivation 103' from Def Jam. The delays with the album started in 2009, with release dates having changed repeatedly.

Despite having never sold less than a million copies of an album, and two'TM103' singles "Ballin" and "Shake Life," already released, the Snowman is gettling left out in the cold.

At this point the album has no release date.

If Michael Jackson had been convicted of child abuse in his 2005 there's a chance he might have fled the country.

Jermaine Jackson told the London Times that his family was not going to let their Michael go down for a crime they feel he didn't commit.

"If they were going to sit and crucify my brother for something that he didn't do, America deserves us not to come back here," Jackson, 56, told the paper. "At the end of the day, this is supposed to be the land of the brave, home of the free, democracy, freedom of speech. All that is required is a day's notice, and this DC8 (jet) will have Michael heading east -- to Bahrain -- to start a new life away from the scam of American justice."

Jackson was found not guilty on all charges at the end of the trial. He had been charged with molesting 13-year-old Gavin Arvizo, giving alcohol to a minor and conspiring to kidnap him and his family.

An Officer Ricky vs. Young Jeezy beef has been slowly simmering, with both camps taking shots at each other over the last year.

The latest shot fired comes from Officer Ricky's Maybach Music Group, who seem to be taking shots at Young Jeezy via twitter regarding rumors his album is being pushed back again.

Jeezy's album 'Thug Motivation 103' has been pushed back several times by Def Jam. It was announced two months ago that the album would be dropping September 20. But with that date fast approaching and no real promotion campaign rolled out some believe it will be pushed back again.

Will Jeezy respond to this latest diss?

Hard work and dedication to his craft is paying off for 50 Cent.

It was just announced that Image Entertainment was so impressed with 50's film "All Things Fall Apart," that they have acquired the rights to it from Hannibal Pictures and will release it to theaters in early 2012.

Image obtained the rights just before the start of Toronto International Film Festival according to the L.A. Times.

The plot of the film centers around a college athlete who is on his way to winning a Heisman Trophy when he's diagnosed with a tumor near his heart.

Fifty lost 80 pounds to accurately portray the role he has described as a "passion" project for him.

"I had to discipline myself not to actually have myself be in the physical state to convey the energy I felt,” told the Associated Press back in February.

The story is based on a real life friend of the rapper/actor.

Tameka "Tiny" Cottle is doing what every man hopes his woman would do for them in a similar situation, and that is sticking up for her husband.

Tiny is speaking out about the unfair treatment she feels her husband T.I. is getting from Georgia prison officials.

"It's important that the world know how unfair he's being treated on such minor charges ... all because he's T.I," the former Xscape singer told TMZ. "There are way more dangerous and carefree [celebrities] that get slapped on the wrist and sent on their way. Our family needs [him] ... and because of someone's personal vendetta against him, we have to watch our kids' sad faces everyday when he still doesn't show up at home."

T.I. was rearrested last week shortly after being freed from an Arkansas federal prison. He is accused by prison officials of violating rules by not letting them know his manager and a producer would take the bus ride with him to a Georgia halfway house.

Tip is now set to be released at the end of September.

Poll After The Jump

Producer extraordinaire 9th Wonder knows a thing or two about good music. He also doesn't do a lot of interviews, so when he speaks it's good to pay attention.

9th recently wrote a column for Vibe comparing two of the best rap records ever made -- Dr. Dre's 'The Chronic' and 'The Blueprint' by Jay-Z.

Both albums are masterpieces that transcended any coast affliliation.

Peep 9th's breakdown of the two albums as told to John Kennedy of Vibe.

The Blueprint changed the scope of how the mainstream thought about music. That really changed the game as far as what records sound like on the radio and how listeners perceived what a hit record was. You had to sample this way, or take a record and speed it up. That was a direct influence from Just Blaze and Kanye West.

The way Jay-Z works, he has a sound for a project and goes with it. The Blueprint was put together in a similar way as The Chronic because The Chronic was based around Parliament-Funkadelic, sounds like that. A lot of people feel the same way about The Blueprint: It's all about one sound. Just Blaze and Kanye found a lane and ran down it.

The best chopped sample is “U Don't Know.”* If you could turn back the hands of time and give everybody that same original record (Bobby Byrd's “I'm Not to Blame”), nobody would’ve chopped it up like Just Blaze. But every record ain't sped up, “All I Need” and “Renegade” were on there, too. It needed that really. It wasn't too left or out of the way. Those records kind of rounded it out.

There weren't a lot of rappers making concept albums. They would just put a bunch of songs out and get two hot singles. The Blueprint brought back the concept album. It wasn't really driven towards singles. It had singles on it, but the way it was packaged, the way it looked, everything—it feels like a whole entire idea. People became more creative about how they released an album. The Blueprint changed all of that. It just changed it all

Are the albums comparable in your opinion. Are both classics?
