16-year old Michael Singleton learned a couple of valuable lessons earlier this week when he received the whipping seen around the world.
The teenager now has a better appreciation of how much his mother, Tonya Graham, loves him and has a clearer picture of how he wants to live his life.
“I understand how much my mother really cares about me. I just got to try to do better," Singleton told ABC News.
Michael's mother is known in the community as a person who is not going to stand for nonsense.
"All my friends know my mother. Every time they see her they’re like, 'Tonya coming.' Oh, yeah she’s coming. Everybody better get straight," he said.
"To see him down there, doing what he was doing, we're not doing that," Graham said. "I'm not angry with him anymore. As long as I have breath in my body, you will not be on the streets, selling drugs, you just not going to live like that.”

Back in the Hot Boys days everyone in Cash Money used to be seen rocking blue bandannas. Then, gradually Lil Wayne began to rap about his Blood affiliations and every member of the crew would be seen sporting red. Turk, however, says the Hot Boys and Cash Money never had ties to gangs while he was there, and instead wore certain bandannas just to coordinate with their clothes.
"We roll in cliques, but as far as gang banging colors and things of that nature and having structured organizations, there wasn't none of that -- I used to put bandannas on for a belt," says Turk, who prides himself on being "neutral." As far as any gang affiliation after Turk left Cash Money, he can't speak on it; he just knows that he personally is not gang affiliated and never has been. "I can't speak on something I don't know," states the 34-year-old, referring to the remaining members.
Watch the clip to see Turk speak on the younger adults back home repping gangs now and more on Cash Money's gang ties below.

Jack Thriller said a lot and then some in this exclusive clip about his upcoming fight with rapper 40 Glocc. From calling him a b*tch to offending his family, Thriller is ready for his chance to win $1 million and feels there will be no contest since he "whoops n*ggas with two eyes a*s at least once a month for free."
The first-ever televised Hip-Hop celebrity fight will see the two go head to head for the grand prize, and seems to be drawing a massive amount of attention. According to Jack Thriller, Shaquille O'Neal, Papoose, and Deebo are in talks of refereeing the event. If you were to make a $1,000 pledge you can even get front-row VIP seats, including drinks and pictures with the two fighters, and according to Jack Thriller, The Game will be right alongside him the entire time. "I'm getting the Game to come down to the ring with me and whatnot," Jack claims. Celebrity Boxing promoter Damon Feldman, who "put the opportunity out there" for the Game to fight 40, says the Cali rapper didn't make the deadline, despite talks that he was interested.
During the three, two-minute rounds, Jack plans on breaking 40 Glocc "open like some crab legs," and even invites 40's gang affiliates to come through and battle it out with his crew. "I used to be in Boy Scouts," states Jack. "We got badges for days." Watch on as Jack Thriller smack talks 40 Glocc during the entire 14-minute clip, and how he's been training by getting lap dances and popping bottles at Sue's Rendezvous above.

TMZ recently spoke with Erick Sermon about Bruce Jenner's decision to become a woman and if hip hop was ready for transgender rappers.
Sermon described Jenner as "crazy." He then went on to explain why, in his opinion hip hop has no room for people who choose that lifestyle, even though he felt a few unnamed rappers were already leaning in that direction.
"They're taking the culture too far," the Green Eyed Bandit said. "The culture is what it is. I'm not saying it's a sport for men. It's a sport for men and women who are representing the culture. And not some other people faking it trying to do something else."
The Albuquerque Police Department is looking to speak to Ultimate Fighting ChampionshipLight Heavyweight title holderJon "Bones" Jones in connection with a hit-and-run accident involving a 20-year old pregnant woman.
The incident happened on Sunday morning, April 26. The victim did not suffer serious injuries.
Authorities cannot confirm that Jones was involved in the accident or why they want to speak with him, but they are actively looking for him.
"Officers attempted to contact Mr. Jones at his residence Sunday evening, but were unsuccessful," Albuquerque police said in a statement via CNN. "We have also reached out to his lawyer, but as of now, have not heard back."
The UFC has issued a statement on the situation.
“We are aware that the Albuquerque Police Department is interested in speaking to Jon Jones regarding his possible involvement in a motor vehicle accident,” the statement read. “We are in the process of gathering facts and will reserve further comment until more information is available.”
At 21 wins and 1 loss, Jones is considered the best MMA fighter in the world. He's also one of the UFC's cash cows.
Outside of the ring the champion has had trouble recently. He tested positive for cocaine in December prior to his win over Daniel Cormier. He was allowed to fight in that January bout because the test was considered to be "out of competition."
He is next set to fight Anthony "Rumble" Johnson at UFC 187 on May 23 in Las Vegas. That match could be in jeopardy depending on the outcome of this case.
**UPDATE** April 28
Jon Jones surrendered to Albuquerque authorities on Monday, May 27, after a felony warrant for his arrest was issued. The UFC champion was taken to Bernalillo County Metro Detention Centerand charged.
Jones posted $2,500 bail and was released a little after 10 p.m.
The victim has been identified as Vanessa Sonnenberg. The 20-year pregnant woman sustained a broken wrist and arm in the accident.
Witnesses recognized Jones when he got out of his 2015 silver Buick SUV. He allegedly took off on foot. The 6'4" 205 lb fighter later returned to the car to retrieve a large amount of cash before hopping a fence and vanishing into the night.
Police found marijuana pipe with marijuana inside of it in the vehicle, along with paperwork belonging to Jones.
**Update** April 29
Jon Jones' career is on hold and possibly teetering on the brink of being over. After flying to Albuquerque to meet with Jones and his lawyer, UFC President Dana White made the decision to strip Jones of his light heavyweight title and suspend him indefinitely.
"As a result of the charge and other violations of the Athlete Code of Conduct Policy, the organization believes it is best to allow Jones time to focus on his pending legal matters," the UFC said in a statement. "While there is disappointment in the recent charges, the organization remains supportive of Jones as he works through the legal process."
Jones issued an apology via Twitter.
Jones also lost his endorsement deal with Reebok. The company made the decision to sever ties with the troubled fighter effective immediately.
Daniel Cormier will step in for Jones in a fight with Anthony "Rumble" Johnson for the now vacant title. The bout will take place at UFC 187 on May 23 in Las Vegas.
