Video After The Jump

(Reuters) South Carolina removed the Confederate battle flag from the state capitol grounds on Friday to chants of "USA, USA!," after three weeks of emotional debate over the banner, a symbol of slavery and racism to many, but of Southern heritage and pride to others.

In a solemn, yet joyful ceremony before a large crowd, an honor guard of white and black state troopers lowered the flag shortly after 10 a.m. (1400 GMT) before a large crowd and live TV cameras.

The relocation of the flag came a little over three weeks after the racially motivated massacre of nine black worshippers during a Bible study session on June 17 at a landmark black church in Charleston.

The banner's new home will be the "relic room" of the state military museum in Columbia, South Carolina's capital, where the flag will reside with other artifacts carried by Southern Confederate soldiers 150 years ago in the Civil War.

South Carolina Republican Governor Nikki Haley, who pushed for the state legislature to enact a law making it possible to remove the flag, was among those watching its departure from its place just yards from the State House entrance.

Earlier, she called it a great day for the state in an interview with NBC's "Today" television show.

"I'm thinking of those nine people today," Haley said, referring to the nine men and women gunned down at Charleston's African Methodist Episcopal church.

Also among those watching the flag's lowering was Charleston Mayor Joe Riley, who in 2000 led a 120-mile (190-km) march from his city to Columbia to protest the flag.

"Today, at long last, this has been done," he said in a statement.

The white man charged in the killings, 21-year-old Dylann Roof, appeared in photographs posing with a Confederate flag that surfaced on a website bearing a racist manifesto. The image spurred politicians and leading national retailers to pull the flag from display.

In South Carolina, the first state to secede during the 1861-1865 U.S. Civil War, this week's debate in the state legislature brought an emotional closure to a symbol long divisive in the state.

The Confederate flag waved atop the state capitol from 1961 to 2000, when it was moved to a Confederate war memorial near the State House entrance.

"My heart is overjoyed. I can feel the togetherness," said Tenetha Hall, of Newberry, South Carolina, who said she took a day off work to drive an hour to Columbia to watch the flag come down. "I'm so glad my children and six grandchildren will get to see this history."

Civil War re-enactor Bobby Dawson stood quietly in gray wool pants and a long-sleeved shirt with the wool coat of the Confederate Army's 101st South Carolina Regiment. He said he had an ancestor who fought on both sides of the Civil War.

"This brings joy to some people, a solemn occasion to others," Dawson said.

Video After The Jump

Bruce Jenner's debut as "Caitlyn" swept the headlines earlier this year, and the former Olympian received an outpouring of support from around the globe, which is what Charlamagne Tha God believes should have happened to Rachel Dolezal.

The outspoken radio host questions the big difference between former Spokane NAACP president Dolezal, who was accused of lying to pass herself off as Black, and Jenner, who is now a transgender woman. Charlamagne added, "Don't transgenders lie for the most part, because it's hard for them to come out, because they feel that they'll be judged and ridiculed? Maybe [Rachel Dolezal] felt the same way."

After explaining that he likes calling out people on their "hypocrisy and bullshit," Charlamagne said that he's not taking sides with Caitlyn or Rachel, but he thinks that acceptance shouldn't be on a case-by-case basis.

They say more money, more problems, but in Iggy Azalea's case cash was the solution to make a big headache vanish.

The Australian rapper has been fighting a court battle with her ex-boyfriend, Jefe Wine, over music she accused him of stealing from her hard drive when they were together.

Then there was also claims by Jefe that he made a sex tape with Iggy and the two were common law married.

12351627877?profile=original

TMZ reports that the two have settled out of court. The "Fancy" rapper agreed to cut Jefe a check to end the drama.

"He couldn't even get a Honda Accord out of it," a source told TMZ, about the payoff.

At least it's over with.

Video After The Jump

Long Beach artist RBX recently chopped it up with VladTV and discussed Suge Knight's charges and why he feels the whole situation is "kinda retarded." "If you still doing the s*** that you was doing when you 18 when you 38 that's lack of growth - call it what you want to call it," he states.

The former Death Row Records rapper/singer believes Marion Knight's mentality is extremely flawed. "What an opportunity squandered," he tells us. Suge is currently standing trial for the death of Terry Carter along with attempted murder and hit-and-run charges. "You can't tell a dumb n**** nothing," RBX adds. ""He never believed what he was or he say he was. Cause you get to a point when you really that G, you don't got nothing to prove no more..."You ain't got to be all cherried out all the damn time."

His advice for Suge? RBX feels he should find a couple of women and "just get out of town. 'Cause trying to be what you was in '94 is not gonna happen. That era is over... what you had you don't got no more, bro. Just go sit down."

Video And Pics After The Jump

ESPN The Magazine has rolled out it's annual Body Issue, which features many of your favorite athletes in the nude with strategically placed items covering their private parts.

We'll start by concentrating on the women featured.

Ali Krieger
"Everyone makes fun of my calves. They are so big. I don't really even like them, I don't really want them as big as they are, but I have no choice. In college, girls would come up to me: 'I want your calves.' It just makes me laugh. I guess people pay a lot of money to have the types of bodies athletes have," the 30-year-old USWNT defender joked. (Check out our interview with Krieger to find out what she eats to fuel her body.)

Paige Selenski
"It's not like I woke up one day and I had a really athletic body and ripped-up abs. I was lucky that I was naturally gifted with an athletic body, but I also put a lot of work into it. I don't stay home and do abs all day long; it just comes with running and all the things I do to stay in shape," the 25-year-old field hockey player said. "I use my body every day for my job. We constantly put our bodies through pain. I'm not afraid to show that off."

Sadena Parks
"I have a butt that is larger than I want it to be. I know it gives me power in my swing, but everybody is like 'You've got a nice butt!' I'm like 'Well, thank you, but you can have it if you want it. I'll give it to you, it's all yours,'" the 25-year-old LPGA-golfer shared.

Aly Raisman
"I think imperfection is beauty. Instead of being insecure about my muscles, I've learned to love them. I don't even think of it as a flaw anymore because it's made me into the athlete that I am," said the 21-year-old Olympic gymnast.

Natalie Coughlin
"I'm self-conscious about my arms. It's really hard to find a dress that's a size 10 in the lats but a size 4 in the waist. But I want to be as successful as I can; if that means having big arms, I'll take big arms," the 32-year-old Olympic swimmer said.

Brittney Griner
"I'd describe myself as athletically lanky. I want to show people that. I'm comfortable in my body and I don't mind putting it on display. Honestly, I like how unique it is. My big arms, my bigger hands, these long legs—I love being different. If everybody was the same, it'd be a boring-ass world," said the 24-year-old two-time WNBA All-Star.

Amanda Bingson
"Dense would be the right word for me. Generally when you look at athletes, you see their muscles and all that stuff; I don't have any of that. My arm is just my arm—it's not cut, it's not sculpted. I don't have traps bulging out to my ears; I have a neck. I don't have a six-pack. My legs are a little toned, but they aren't bulging out. I'm just dense," the 25-year-old USA Track & Field hammer thrower said. "I think it's important to show that athletes come in all shapes and sizes."

Leticia Bufoni
"I never lift weights. I don't want to get big. If you want to skate well and be fast you can't be big, you know? I use more of my body weight [when I train]," the 22-year-old skateboarder said.

Gabrielle Reece: "In college, I was modeling in New York, and I worked with the most beautiful women in the world. They were so beautiful you could barely look at them," the 45-year-old professional beach volleyball player (who posed with husband and big wave surfer, Laird Hamilton) shared. "And then I would go back to my team at Florida State, and we were all trying to get as big as we could because we wanted to be as strong as possible. And they seemed more confident and happier. I thought, being perfectly beautiful—or what's defined by the standards of the world as beautiful—doesn't actually make you happier." (For more from the athlete, see Gabrielle Reece's Go-To Fitness Tips!)

Khatuna Lorig

"My back muscles are beautiful! Archery has helped sculpt my upper body. I'm in great shape and really happy about that, very satisfied. I put up slow-motion videos that focus on my back and on my shoulders, and when I watch them I think, 'Damn, I look good!'" said the 41-year-old archer.

Dallas Friday
"I was built like a little powerhouse. When I was transferring from gymnastics to wakeboarding, I was a little self-conscious. There's not a huge difference going from a leotard to a bathing suit, but you'd see these beautiful girls in bikinis, and I'm only 13 or 14 years old with this buff little body," the 28-year-old wakeboarder shared. "I grew into being really proud of it, knowing that that's what has enabled me to do what I do."

Meet the Fit Female Athletes of the ESPN Body Issue

Chantae McMillan
"I don't look in the mirror and think 'slim'; I look in the mirror and I'm like, 'Whoa, beast!' It's just crazy how much the body changes. Looking in the mirror, I get surprised like every other week. It's like I'm Wonder Woman," said the 27-year-old Olympic heptathlete.
