HOUSTON (Click2Houston) – One of two suspects tied to the River Oaks area fatal drive-by shooting of an up-and-coming entertainer has been identified, according to the Houston Police Department.
Montrel Lenard Burley, 40, has been charged with murder in the death of Darrell Gentry, a 26-year-old rapper from the Cleveland area known as BTB Savage.
The shooting happened on the night of March 30 at around 6:10 p.m. in the 4600 block of San Felipe Street at Mid Lane.
Houston police Chief Troy Finner said officers arrived to find Gentry dead outside the entrance of a parking garage. He had suffered at least one gunshot wound.
Investigators learned that the victim was driving a white Mercedes northbound on Mid Lane when a black, newer model Subaru SUV drove up and began firing at the vehicle.
Witnesses told police the 2 suspects fled in the black Subaru SUV at a high rate of speed following the shooting.
Further investigation led to the identity of Burley as one of the suspects & he was subsequently charged in the shooting. He remains on the loose.

A lawyer representing the family of Lance Reddick is disputing a report that the late John Wick & The Wire actor's cause of death was heart disease.
TMZ reported Thursday morning that it had obtained a death certificate listing Reddick's immediate cause of death as as ischemic heart disease as well as atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.
Reddick's longtime attorney James Hornstein said in a statement that "No autopsy was performed on Lance" & that "To my knowledge, no medical examination of Lance during his lifetime ever indicated such conditions."
Hornstein described Reddick as "the most physically fit person I've ever known" & said the actor's lifestyle included daily workouts in his home gym, "extensive cardio work," and a strict diet. He added that Reddick even had "the availability of gym facilities" as a "contractual requirement" when working away from home.
"The information appearing on the death certificate is wholly inconsistent with his lifestyle," Hornstein said. "The coroner statement on the death certificate is not a result of an autopsy. No autopsy was performed on Lance.
Reddick died March 18, at 60. Representatives for the actor said at the time that he "passed away suddenly" from natural causes.

I wrote this song during a very dark time. I vividly remember writing this song in the car (while I was driving) and I have never done that before. Driving a rental car because I had recently just totaled my Honda Accord in a drinking and driving accident. Living away from family in KC for four years I made some pretty bad decisions that resulted in blessings disguised as curses. Generally, I am always the most positive person I know but this song came from a really dark place when I needed to vent. This song helped reinvent my perspective on music, as I should use music as therapy before anything. If you get a second chance, don't squander it. My life could have ended in numerous ways on the day of the accident.
