Report via Rockford Register Star — A Rockford man who was reported missing June 1 was beaten to death with a baseball bat before his body was set on fire, according to a criminal complaint filed in Winnebago County.

The body of William Pickering, a 23-year-old rapper who also went by EBE Bandz and Billy Da Kid, was found Thursday in unincorporated Winnebago County. Police did not disclose where his body was found. Charging documents allege he was killed on or about May 25.

Two people have been charged in connection to Pickering’s death and a third person is being sought. William Arzate, 22, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of concealment of a homicidal death. Arzate’s bond is set at $1 million. Manuel Ramirez, 22, is charged with concealment of a homicidal death. Ramirez is being held on $500,000 bond. Police are searching for Dakota Graff, 20, who they said is wanted on unrelated warrants.

According to the criminal complaint, Arzate struck Pickering in the head with a baseball bat causing his death. The complaint states Arzate and Ramirez then moved Pickering’s body to a wooded area in Winnebago County and set it on fire. The complaint states Arzate was “acting with two others” when he killed Pickering, but it does not name those people.

Police made an initial missing persons and welfare check for Pickering almost three weeks ago, when his red car was removed from a garage in the 500 block of Fisher Avenue near his home.

Authorities disclosed few details about the case. Police Chief Dan O’Shea said detectives located several “people of interest” in the case on Thursday, and the investigation led them to a crime scene in the 5200 block of Indianhead Avenue. Further investigation led detectives to Pickering’s body, which was found in a wooded area in unincorporated Winnebago County according to the criminal complaints.

During their first appearances in bond court Friday afternoon, Judge John Gibbons denied requests to reduce bond for both men.

Ramirez’s attorney, Rene Hernandez, entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and argued for a $5,000 bond. He said Ramirez only prior offenses have been traffic tickets.

“He doesn’t belong in jail,” Hernandez said. “Five hundred thousand is completely excessive on a Class 3 (felony) with no priors.”

Assistant Public Defender Sean Trausch also asked for a lower bond for Arzate, not specifying a number. He, too, said Arzate’s only prior offenses have been traffic violations.

Deputy State’s Attorney Brenda Quade asked that both men have no contact with each other, Graff, and a fourth man, Colton Kennicker. Gibbons agreed. Graff and Kennicker have not been charged in connection with the rapper’s death.

“We’re looking for more people,” Quade said after the hearing. She declined to comment on whether Graff or Kennicker could face charges.

After the hearing, Hernandez said he will continue to seek a bond reduction for Ramirez and request a speedy trial.

“He was asked to do a favor and had no knowledge he was transporting a body,” Hernandez said. “We were unhappy the judge maintained the $500,000 bond. He didn’t commit the crime of hurting this individual.”

Gibbons set their next court date for July 25 before Judge Randy Wilt.

Report via TMZ -- Cardi B has been indicted by a grand jury on multiple charges -- including 2 felonies -- in connection with a brawl at a New York strip club ... TMZ has confirmed.

TMZ broke the story ...Cardi was arrested in October for allegedly ordering an attack on 2 strip club bartenders -- Jade and Baddie G. The 2 women claim they were injured during the brawl when Cardi's people began throwing bottles and chairs.

The incident, which went down in August, was allegedly triggered after Cardi accused Jade of sleeping with Offset.

The grand jury has indicted Cardi on 14 charges, including 2 counts of felony attempted assault with intent to cause serious physical injury. Other charges include misdemeanor reckless endangerment, assault, criminal solicitation, conspiracy and harassment.

She was initially charged with 2 misdemeanors ... assault and reckless endangerment, but that's all superseded by the grand jury indictment.

Cardi rejected a plea deal, which would have given her a conditional discharge in return for pleading guilty to a single misdemeanor. The problem ... if she misstepped during the conditional period, she'd be in big trouble.

Prosecution sources told TMZ last month they decided to take the matter to the grand jury because of information they discovered during their investigation. They would not be specific.

Cardi didn't seem worried about the turn of events last night.  She hit up the ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards in Bev Hills with Offset. She won an award for Songwriter of the Year.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. (WSB-TV) -- A judge just granted a $250,000 bond for rapper Lil Durk.

Durk was in court on June 14 for a probable cause hearing about his alleged involvement in a shooting outside The Varsity in downtown Atlanta. The shooting happened on Feb. 5 at 5:49 a.m.

Channel 2's Lori Wilson was in the courtroom for the bond hearing Thursday.

The conditions of the bond are that the rapper cannot be anywhere near a weapon, he has curfew that requires him to be in the house from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. every night and there is to be no witness intimidation.

An Atlanta police detective said Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Derrick Banks, was seen on video shooting a man near The Varsity while he was driving.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Just before 2 p.m. Friday, the judge found probable cause for Lil Durk and his co-defendent, DeaVonte Bennett, to be charged with possession and criminal intent to commit murder, among other charges.

Before he surrendered last month, Lil Durk spoke exclusively with Channel 2 investigative reporter Mark Winne. He said he had "nothing to hide."

Now, two weeks later, Lil Durk and Bennett were in court, hearing Atlanta Police Department detective Jeffrey Churchill lay out evidence against them.

“I spoke to a witness who was there at the scene when the incident took place,” Churchill said.

Churchill said the witness told him she was standing outside, talking to Banks and Bennett in front of a cigar bar around 5 a.m. Feb. 5 when they saw a fight in the car in front of them.

“Mr. Banks pulled out a weapon. They heard gunfire,” Churchill said.

Lil Durk and Bennett sat and listened as prosecutors described the case as gang-related.

Prosecutors said Lil Durk and Bennett are members of Chicago gangs and that they knew the victim, Alexander Weatherspoon, had $30,000, an expensive chain and a nice car -- and that's why he was targeted.

While on the stand, Churchill said he did not find evidence that this was a gang related incident.

ANAHEIM (CBSLA) — A YouTube rapper who police say raps about the pimping subculture has been arrested and charged with pimping and pandering an 18-year-old woman.

Angel Ortiz Diamond, 31, of Los Angeles, goes by the name of “Benjiboy Staccs” on YouTube. He was arrested last Monday and charged with a felony count each of pimping and pandering.

Diamond has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is scheduled to make his next court appearance Thursday.

According to the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force, Diamond’s activities were scrutinized after they were tipped off by a relative of an 18-year-old Orange County woman.

Authorities say Diamond has posted several videos to YouTube with songs “glorifying the pimping subculture.” In many of his videos, in which lyrics are peppered with profanity and derogatory names for women, he waves around stacks of hundred-dollar bills and is surrounded by scantily clad women.

Diamond was using his social media following to meet young women in clubs, and lure them into human trafficking, according to task force officials.
