A Dallas County jury convicted fired officer Amber Guyger of murder for fatally shooting Botham Jean in his apartment last year.
Cheers broke out in the hallway outside the courtroom after the verdict was announced.
Jurors will now resume deliberating to decide Guyger’s punishment. In Texas, murder carries a punishment of five to 99 years or life in prison. The charge is not eligible for probation.
Guyger, 31, fatally shot 26-year-old Jean in his apartment last year. She had said she mistook his apartment for her own and thought Jean was a burglar.
Report via TMZ -- Jay-Z's work with the NFL is already falling short on his promise of diversity, making him look like nothing more than a pawn and the "token black guy" ... so says Uncle Luke.
The 2 Live Crew frontman was quite outspoken with us when we asked him to elaborate on his op-ed in the Miami New Times ... in which he said Jay and the NFL were slapping Miami's talent pool in the face by booking J Lo and Shakira as headliners for the Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show.
He says the fact that Jay -- who, along with Roc Nation, is now heading up the entertainment side of things in the NFL -- didn't hire a local performer of color is a betrayal.
Watch ... Luke even goes so far as to say that Jay's essentially acting as a straw man for the league thus far, and gives him an F rating when it comes to mixing up the acts.
Luke's main beef seems to be two-fold ... 1) Miami talent was completely overlooked despite a vast array of superstars who could've done it. 2) An artist of color with a hip-hop background wasn't announced as a headliner. He seems to think Jay should've looked to do both.
As far as who UL would like to see perform instead -- he offers up names like Flo Rida, Rick Ross, DJ Khaled, Trick Daddy and even Pitbull (who is in talks to show up) ... all of whom he says should've been the marquee talent, with Jennifer and Shakira as guests.
When it comes to Jay specifically though ... Luke has an ultimatum of sorts -- resign, or continue being a joke. Ouch ...
Report via TMZ -- Grammy award-winning artist Louie Rankin -- famous for his role as Ox in the movie "Belly" -- died in a car crash in Canada ... TMZ has confirmed.
Details are scarce, but Louie died Monday in a fatal wreck in Ontario, Canada ... the crash reportedly involved a transport truck and another vehicle.
Louie starred alongside Nas and DMX in the 1998 crime drama "Belly" ... and his character, Ox, was a Jamaican kingpin.
Nas and Louie became close friends during filming, and the pair reunited years later for a cameo in a DJ Khaled music video for his song, "Nas Album Done."
His other acting credits include 2002's "Shottas" and 2014's "We Run These Streets."
Born and raised in Jamaica, Louie was also a Jamaican dancehall and reggae artist ... and he released a huge single in 1992 called "Typewriter," which won a Grammy.
Louie often referred to himself in his lyrics as the "Original Don Dada."

Report via Washington Post -- The officer listened to speeches vaunting his heroism, accepted a certificate naming him deputy of the month and posed for a group photo with city leaders before returning to the back of the Tamarac, Fla., commission chambers amid polite applause.
But one city official still had something he wanted to say.
“Joshua Gallardo, will you come down for a second?” asked Elberg Mike Gelin, a Tamarac city commissioner who goes by his middle name. “It’s good to see you again.”
As other elected officials stood by, frozen in disbelief, Gelin tore into the Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputy, interrupting the nonpartisan commission’s Wednesday morning meeting with what may go down as the most awkward 30 seconds in the South Florida city’s history.
“You probably don’t remember me, but you’re the police officer who falsely arrested me four years ago,” he told Gallardo, who nodded silently, still clutching his award. “You lied on the police report. I believe you’re a rogue police officer, you’re a bad police officer and you don’t deserve to be here.”
The room went silent. Gallardo gave the commissioner a thumbs up and walked away, as Tamarac Mayor Michelle J. Gomez took back the microphone and reminded everyone present that the city appreciated the work of the sheriff’s office.
The tense exchange, which in recent days has led to an outpouring of support for the commissioner but also left him facing potential censure and the loss of a crucial police union endorsement, stemmed from an incident that took place in July 2015. At the time, Gelin did not hold elected office.
As Gelin tells it, he was at a Starbucks in Tamarac, a suburban community roughly 15 miles from Fort Lauderdale, when he noticed that two homeless men were fighting outside and tried to intervene. Three officers showed up, he told local blog Tamarac Talk, and Gallardo was among them.
“For some reason, he came over to me, told me to stop recording with my phone,” Gelin told the site. “I asked him why I needed to stop recording, and he gave me an answer, and then he told me that I needed to back up.”
By then, a crowd of bystanders had gathered, and Gelin, who is black, asked the deputy why he was the only one being asked to move. At that point, he said, Gallardo placed him under arrest. He told Tamarac Talk that the experience was traumatizing.
“I was disrespected, humiliated, embarrassed and spent nine hours in jail,” he said. “I spent a significant amount of time and money finding a good attorney and dealing with the court system.”
In the arrest report, Gallardo described the confrontation differently. Gelin approached him from behind, he wrote, and repeatedly ignored commands to move away from the crime scene. “He advised he was recording the incident and that he did not have to move,” the deputy wrote, adding that he told Gelin he would need to stand behind some nearby bushes “to provide space for when rescue comes.”
Court records show that Gelin was jailed for resisting an officer without violence, but prosecutors declined to press charges. A memo obtained by CBS Miami said that the state attorney’s office reviewed the footage from Gelin’s cellphone and concluded that “a strong likelihood of conviction is not present as images in the video do not support conviction.”

(CNN) Stacey Dash was arrested for domestic battery after an incident Sunday night in New Port Richey, FL, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

The report states that police were called to a home Sunday evening "to respond to a domestic dispute" between the two.
"The victim sustained red scratch marks to his upper left arm from being pushed," the report states.
Dash was taken into custody and transported to the Land O' Lakes detention facility without incident. She posted bail and was released on Monday morning, according to a spokesperson for the Pasco County Sheriff.
CNN has reached out to Dash's representatives for comment.
Dash, 52, has worked as a conservative pundit and continued to appear in film and TV projects in recent years.

Report via TMZ -- R. Kelly is going back to court for a second try at getting out of jail pending his various trials, claiming his health has been compromised behind bars.
Kelly's lawyer just filed new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, in which they outline his various medical issues, including numbness in one of his hands, anxiety and an untreated hernia.
The lawyer, Steve Greenberg, claims the singer is not receiving adequate medical treatment in the facility and calls the conditions of his confinement "stifling." As for why ... Greenberg says, "Although he lives and has lived with two lady friends, only one of them is allowed to be on his visiting list, and after 90 days he's required to switch." He confirmed to TMZ, the woman who is currently on the list is Azriel Clary -- so Joycelyn Savage has to wait it out before she can visit Kelly.
The docs also try to assure the judge nothing untoward will happen if R. Kelly gets out. The docs vow the singer will not tamper with or intimidate witnesses. Greenberg also claims R. Kelly is not a flight risk ... he has a passport which does not contain a single stamp showing travel, because he doesn't really go outside the U.S. Besides, he wouldn't even have access to his passport.
