Ricky Schroder's getting so much hate for helping accused murderer Kyle Rittenhouse make bail, he reported it to cops ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... deputies responded to a call from Schroder Sunday and stopped by his home to review various negative social media posts directed at the "NYPD Blue" actor.

While they weren't life-threatening, some of the comments were pretty nasty ... "Tbh thought he was dead. Would've been better," "This was a racist move pure and simple," and "Ricky Schroder can shove that silver spoon right up his own ass."

Celebs including Bette Midler weighed in too, saying, "Who knew he could be so malevolent?"

We're told cops determined none of the online comments rose to the level of a criminal threat ... so the officers just took a suspicious circumstances report and left.

Our sources say Schroder will be in contact with authorities if things escalate, and we're told police are monitoring the situation.

As we reported ... Schroder donated $150k to the 17-year-old's bail fund, which the teen's attorney, Lin Wood, said helped them post $2 million bail to get Rittenouse out of jail while he awaits trial for murder.

Some of the outcry is obviously harsher than others ... but you get the idea.

As for Rittenhouse ... he's accused of shooting and killing 2 men and wounding a third during the protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin following the police shooting of Jacob Blake. He's claiming he acted in self-defense.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in a shooting that left eight people injured last week at a Wisconsin mall, authorities said Sunday.

Wauwatosa Police Chief Barry Weber said in a news conference that the teenager was arrested Saturday night with a gun alleged to have been used in the shooting. Weber did not identify the teen or say what charges he may face.

Several other people were arrested in connection with the shooting, said Abby Pavlik, a spokeswoman for the police department, but she did not provide details.

Authorities said the shooting followed an altercation between two groups at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa, outside Milwaukee, on Friday afternoon. Among the wounded was a teenager.

Pavlik could not say whether the injured teenager was the suspected shooter, adding that several people in the two groups were wounded. Four bystanders were also injured, Weber said.

He said the shooter fled the mall as tactical teams cleared the space of patrons and worked to contain its 1.2 million square feet, a process that took several hours.

Pavlik did not say where the suspect was arrested.

LONDON (AP) — Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca said Monday that late-stage trials showed its coronavirus vaccine was up to 90% effective, giving public health officials hope they may soon have access to a vaccine that is cheaper and easier to distribute than some of its rivals.

The results are based on interim analysis of trials in the U.K. and Brazil of a vaccine developed by Oxford University and manufactured by AstraZeneca. No hospitalizations or severe cases of COVID-19 were reported in those receiving the vaccine.

AstraZeneca is the third major drug company to report late-stage results for a potential COVID-19 vaccine as the world anxiously waits for scientific breakthroughs that will bring an end to a pandemic that has wrought economic devastation and resulted in nearly 1.4 million confirmed deaths.

Pfizer and Moderna last week reported preliminary results from late-stage trials showing their vaccines were almost 95% effective. But, unlike its rivals, the AstraZeneca vaccine doesn’t have to be stored at ultra-cold temperatures, making it easier to distribute, especially in developing countries.

“I think these are really exciting results,” Dr. Andrew Pollard, chief investigator for the trial, said during a news conference. “Because the vaccine can be stored at fridge temperatures, it can be distributed around the world using the normal immunization distribution system. And so our goal … to make sure that we have a vaccine that was accessible everywhere, I think we’ve actually managed to do that.”

The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is also cheaper. AstraZeneca, which has pledged it won’t make a profit on the vaccine during the pandemic, has reached agreements with governments and international health organizations that put its cost at about $2.50 a dose. Pfizer’s vaccine costs about $20 a dose, while Moderna’s is $15 to $25, based on agreements the companies have struck to supply their vaccines to the U.S. government.

All three vaccines must be approved by regulators before they can be widely distributed.

Oxford researchers and AstraZeneca stressed that they aren’t competing with other projects, and that multiple vaccines will be needed to reach enough of the world’s population and end the pandemic.

“We’re not thinking about vaccinations working in terms of one person at a time. We have to think about vaccinating communities, populations, reducing transmission within those populations, so that we really get on top of this pandemic,″ said Sarah Gilbert, a leader of the Oxford research team. “And that’s what it now looks like we’re going to have the ability to contribute to in a really big way.″

A New Yorker put his martial arts skills to use and thwarted an attempted baby-snatching in a Big Apple park last week, pinning the perp down for 15 minutes until authorities arrived, he said Monday.

Brian Kemsley, a 33-year-old Muay Thai coach, stepped in when he saw a man trying to grab a baby inside a stroller from a woman who was also holding another child in her arms last Monday in Madison Square Park.

“I was trying to get him away from the mother, and let her get away to safety … But toward the end of it, I was also trying to keep the guy safe from the mob,” he told The Post.

The NYPD said it responded to the park that day around 3:35 p.m. for a report of an emotionally disturbed person, who was taken into custody and to Bellevue hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

The foiled kidnapping — first reported by PIX11 — was captured on cellphone footage showing Kemsley tackling the man to the ground and holding him there.

As he was holding him, Kemsley said, he realized that the man, who kept itching for a fight, was also unwell, at one point appearing to think he was speaking to President Barack Obama in the Oval Office.

Kemsley said that despite having trained in martial arts, including jiujitsu for a decade, he was “worried about passing out and losing my grip” by the end of the 15 minutes.

“Here’s the thing, I don’t enjoy jiujitsu, I don’t think training is particularly fun, but I have a lot of respect for it as it is absolutely essential in a street fight and self-defense,” he said in an Instagram post about the incident.

“I’d like to point out that when it comes to community security, that smashing someone should not be the priority,” he added in another post.

“We’re not suppose to show up with sticks and start beating people. The priority should always be to defuse the situation safely and as non violently as possible so we do not escalate the situation.”

After the ordeal, Kemsley said a bystander lent him a bottle of hand sanitizer that he “used in one shot.”

Then “everyone started clapping, everyone was grateful.”

“That was a very nice moment,” he recalled.

Jeremih is gonna be alright -- at least that's what his family is signaling after revealing he's out of the ICU and on his way to recovering after coming down with COVID-19.

The R&B singer's family tells TMZ ... Jeremih has been transferred out of the ICU he was being treated at last week and is now going to spend the rest of his recovery in a regular hospital setting, where the "true healing" is set to begin.

We're also told the fam thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this health scare -- there was no shortage of people sending good vibes his way ... including a ton of artists he's collaborated with over the years, like 50 Cent and others.

The update is fantastic news, as it appeared Jeremih's health was going downhill and fast last weekend, when we learned he was on a ventilator after having been admitted for intensive care. The prognosis sounded quite grim, but now ... it's almost like a 180.

It's unclear if Jeremih still has the virus -- or how long he's even had it ... but the fact he's being treated normally now seems to mean the guy will be okay after all.

Video After The Jump

A man who confessed this week to killing another man 25 years ago in Decatur told police he is terminally ill with lung cancer and wanted to “lift a weight from his chest.”

Detective Sean Mukaddam, a Decatur police violent crimes investigator, said he was initially skeptical Wednesday when a secretary told him a man was on the phone wishing to confess to a murder.

“You’re always leery,” Mukaddam said. “I thought it might be a prank call. But it quickly developed that this was the real deal.”

Johnny Dwight Whited, 53, of Trinity, said he wanted to be ready to “meet his maker,” Mukaddam said. The case he confessed to had gone about as cold as a murder can get.

“There was nothing else to follow up on,” he said. “When it gets like this, you’re hoping something else will come up. It usually doesn’t occur like this.”

The body of Christopher Alvin Dailey was discovered by two hunters on April 26, 1995 in a wooded area on George Russell Road S.W. in Decatur. About 90 minutes later, Dailey’s partially submerged 1983 Toyota Tercel was found in the Tennessee River. Dailey had been killed by a single gunshot to the head.

Mukkadam, who has been with the violent crime unit for two years and in law enforcement for 15, said investigators put in many hours and ran out several leads on the case over the years, but nothing solid developed. Forensics in those days, he said, was like “a stone wheel” compared to the present. To his knowledge, Whited had never come up as a suspect.

After the initial call on Wednesday, Whited, a bald man with a grizzled white goatee, met with Mukkadam and directed police to the crime scene, telling them which roads to turn down. The passage of time showed itself when they had to stop at a gate that wasn’t there 25 years before.

From there, they walked a quarter of a mile to the place where Whited said he killed Dailey. He then took them to the place where he dumped the vehicle in the water - a riverfront stretch had also changed from commercial growth.

In the space of a little more than three hours, police finally had a solution that checked out with the available evidence. Mukkadam said he couldn’t comment on the motive. Based on his conversations, he said, prosecutors intend on moving ahead with a murder trial, regardless of Whited’s health.

Calls to the Morgan County District Attorney for comment were not immediately returned.

Whited has been charged with murder in Dailey’s death and is being held on $15,000 bond. At the time of his confession he was awaiting trial on a methamphetamine charge. Whited had a string of arrests for traffic and drug offenses through the years, including one for possession of a crack cocaine pipe less than three weeks after Dailey’s body was discovered.
