CHICAGO (AP) — A 7-year-old girl was killed and her father was seriously injured in a shooting Sunday at a McDonald’s in Chicago.

Jontae Adams and his daughter, Jaslyn, were in a car Sunday afternoon in a McDonald’s parking lot in the Homan Square neighborhood when they were shot, Chicago police said.

Adams, better known as Tilla, is one half of the Chicago-based rap duo Tilla & Bully Bino.

A McDonald’s employee who asked not to be named told the Chicago Sun-Times that two people got out of a gray car in the drive-thru & started shooting at Adams’ car.

The girl, who has three siblings, was shot repeatedly & was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her father was shot in the torso & taken to the same hospital, where his condition was listed as serious, police said.

The day before she shooting, Tilla wrote on Facebook “Opps probably downstairs waiting on me”, signifying that he knew someone was after him.

A video has also surfaced on social media that allegedly shows Tilla urinating on a grave, which could be the motive for the shooting that Jaslyn was wrongly caught up in.

No arrests have been made.

Jaslyn’s aunt, Tawny McMullen, said her niece was “beautiful” and a “really sweet child.” She added that her daughter and Jaslyn were best friends.

Jaslyn’s grandmother, Lawanda McMullen, told the Sun-Times that Jaslyn loved to dance & make TikTok videos.

Video After The Jump

Police in Columbus, Ohio, released bodycam video Tuesday night of the fatal shooting of a teenage girl earlier in the day. Interim police chief Michael Woods said at a press conference that it is unusual to have video released so quickly but "we understand the public's need, desire and expectation to have transparency."

Police did not identify the girl but her family and Franklin County Children Services identified her as 16-year-old Ma'Khia Bryant. The family also told CBS Columbus affiliate WBNS-TV that Bryant was the one who called the police for help, saying people were fighting outside her house.

Police at the press conference could not confirm who called 911. Police and city officials also referred to the victim as a 15-year-old throughout the press conference.

Woods said 911 received a call around 4:30 p.m. "The information was that a caller said a female was there trying to stab them and put their hands on them," Woods said. Video of the shooting was then played, and appeared to show the shooting victim attacking two other people with what appeared to be a knife. The officer fired his weapon several times while Bryant and another girl were struggling against the side of a parked car. It was unclear what led to the altercation, which was already in progress when the officers arrived.

The officers who responded to the scene, including the one who shot Bryant, were not identified.

A railroad worker has been praised after he saved a child who fell onto train tracks in India.

The child was walking with his blind mother along a train platform in Mumbai, when they veered towards the tracks.

The child fell off the train platform & landed on the track, which left the mother distraught.

The woman called out to her son & motioned for the boy to come towards her as the train approached.

A railroad worker who saw the incident, jumped onto the tracks & ran towards the boy.

With the train mere seconds away, the man lifts the boy up onto the platform before jumping back up himself.

Strangers flock towards the mother & son to comfort them after the near-miss, as the train roars past the platform.

While shaken, the child did not sustain any injuries.

The incident was captured on CCTV cameras by India's Ministry of Railways.

The railway employee, identified as Mayur Shelkhe, has been praised on social media.

The Ministry of Railways described Mr Shelke as a "good samaritan" on Twitter.

"At Vangani station of Central Railway, Pointsman Mr Mayur Shelkhe saved the life of a child just in the nick of the time," the Ministry of Railways said. "He risked his life to save the life of the child. We salute his exemplary courage & utmost devotion to the duty."

ATLANTA (WGCL) -- A romantic getaway for a young couple took a violent, almost deadly turn in broad daylight Friday.

“I was sleeping it was so early I just heard like 5 shots and that’s what woke me that was my alarm clock,” said Leshon Jones a tenant in a nearby apartment complex.

“I didn’t want to peek my head through the window and then they still shooting and then I got shot,” Jones goes on to say.

Meairra Mansara and her boyfriend were riding scooters down Northside Drive when they were attacked, after telling a man driving by to stop cat calling at the victim.

Boyfriend Juwan Davis stepping in asked the man to leave them alone.

Both Mansara and Davis rode down the street in an attempt to get away when bullets started to fly.

One of the bullets hit Mansara in her shin, shattering her tibia.

“From the distance I see someone go down…” Eyewitness Samuel Savage went running when he saw Mansara fall to the ground.

“It was really heartbreaking she was screaming she was crying, and she kept grabbing her phone to call her mom,” said Savage.

The fire department worked to stop the bleeding until EMS got to the scene.

Neighbors said hey believe violence is never the answer and rejection is not an excuse.

“It’s definitely a cowardly act to try and shoot somebody just because they don’t want to talk to you,” exclaims Jones.

“Take your licks and just go on there to someone else…don’t take it out on someone who rejected you,” said Savage.”

According to the victim’s mother, she will now have a permanent rod in her leg and is looking at at least six weeks of recovery until rehab therapy.

Longtime NFL defensive end Aldon Smith returned to the league last year for the Dallas Cowboys after being reinstated following four years out of the league. He has a long and deeply sad history of arrests and addiction issues. Last year provided cause for encouragement; Smith played and started in a full 16 games for Dallas, finishing with 5.0 sacks on the year.

Following that season, Smith signed with the Seattle Seahawks, who officially announced the acquisition on April 15.

But it appears Smith is back in legal trouble again. According to a bulletin from James Pohlmann, the sheriff of St. Bernard Parish, a suburb surrounding the New Orleans, Lousiana area, Smith is wanted on a second degree battery charge. According to the bulletin, the alleged battery occurred at the French Press Coffee House in Chalmette and Smith departed the scene. According to law enforcement, there is video of the incident.

Scottie Pippen has revealed his oldest son Antron Pippen passed away on Sunday. He was only 33.

"I'm heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron. The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game."

Scottie continued, "Antron suffered from chronic asthma and if he hadn’t had it, I truly believe he would've made it to the NBA. He never let that get him down, though -- Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became."

Antron was born in 1987 to Karen McCollum -- who married Scottie in 1988 (they split in 1990).

Antron was a pretty solid basketball player who reportedly spent time hoopin' at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU). Clearly, Scottie believed he had real potential, if not for his medical condition.

Scottie did not reveal Antron's cause of death. However, he's asking fans to pray for his family.

"Please keep his mom, Karen, and all of his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. A kind heart and beautiful soul gone way too soon. I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again."

Antron also spent time playin ball at South Georgia Technical College -- and moments ago, the school paid tribute to their former player.

Video After The Jump

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A former sheriff’s deputy in Texas has been taken into custody Monday following a manhunt that began after 3 people were fatally shot in Austin.

Police said Stephen Broderick, 41, was arrested without incident about 7:30 a.m. along a rural road in Manor, an Austin suburb, Manor Police Chief Ryan Phipps said. He had a pistol in his waistband, Phipps said.

Police had received 2 phone calls about a suspicious person matching Broderick’s description, Phipps said.

Interim Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon said Broderick was suspected in Sunday’s deaths of 2 women & 1 man, all of whom Broderick knew.

Police initially told Austin residents who lived nearby to shelter in place, but they lifted that request later Sunday when they said it was unclear whether Broderick was still in the city.

Chacon said that Broderick was a former deputy with the Travis County sheriff’s office, which is based in Austin.

Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza said in a statement that Broderick had been arrested for sexual assault of a child last June & was released on $50,000 bond. He said that the district attorney’s office on Sunday filed a motion to revoke that bond.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Kristen Dark told the Austin American-Statesman that Broderick, a property crimes detective, resigned after the arrest.

The newspaper also reports that Broderick’s wife filed for a protective order and divorce shortly after his arrest.
