NEW YORK (Fox5) - A pair of robbers are targetting people wearing expensive jewelry as they leave Manhattan hotspots, including one where a man was robbed of approximately $4 million in jewelry.
The NYPD says the first incident took place on Thursday, August 14, just before 4:30 a.m. A 47-year-old man and a 27-year-old man had just left TAO Downtown. When they walked to the corner of West 30 St. & Broadway, two men got out of a black Mercedes Benz.
They walked up to the victims. One of them pulled a gun & they took multiple pieces of jewelry from the two victims, including multiple chains, necklaces, rings, and a Richard Mille watch from the 47-year-old with a total value of approximately $4 million, and a medallion necklace from the 27-year-old worth approximately $10,000.
The robbers then jumped back in their car and took off southbound on Broadway toward West 28 Street and turned left toward 5 Avenue.
The victims were not hurt.
The second robbery took place just after 1 a.m. on Saturday. A 34-year-old man had just left Pergola restaurant was walking toward Broadway in Chelsea when a black Mercedes Benz approached & parked at the corner.
Two men got out of the car & pointed a gun at the victim. They took a Cuban necklace, a tennis bracelet & an Audemar watch from the victim, with a total value of approximately $100,000.
The victim was not injured.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Two suicide bombers and gunmen targeted crowds massing near the Kabul airport Thursday, in the waning days of a massive airlift that has drawn thousands of people seeking to flee the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan. At least 13 people were killed & 15 wounded.
A U.S. official said the complex attack was “definitely believed” to have been carried out by the Islamic State group, whose affiliate in Afghanistan grew out of disaffected Taliban members who hold an even more extreme view of Islam.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby confirmed the blasts, saying one was near an airport entrance and another was a short distance away by a hotel.
The U.S. official said members of the U.S. military were among the wounded.
Even as the area was hit, the official said evacuation flights continued to take off from Kabul airport, which Western governments earlier warned was a target.
One explosion went off in a crowd of people waiting to enter the airport, according to Adam Khan, an Afghan waiting nearby. He said several people appeared to have been killed or wounded, including some who lost body parts.
Several countries urged people to avoid the airport earlier in the day, with one saying there was a threat of a suicide bombing. But just days — or even hours for some nations — before the evacuation effort ends, few appeared to heed the call.
Over the last week, the airport has been the scene of some of the most searing images of the chaotic end of America’s longest war and the Taliban’s takeover, as flight after flight took off carrying those who fear a return to the militants’ brutal rule.
Already, some countries have ended their evacuations & begun to withdraw their soldiers and diplomats, signaling the beginning of the end of one of history’s largest airlifts. The Taliban have pledged not to attack Western forces during the evacuation, but insist the foreign troops must be out by America’s self-imposed deadline of Aug. 31.
Overnight, warnings emerged from Western capitals about a threat from Afghanistan’s Islamic State group affiliate, which likely has seen its ranks boosted by the Taliban’s freeing of prisoners during their blitz across the country.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A grand jury has indicted adult film actor Ron Jeremy on more than 30 counts of sexual assault involving 21 women & girls across more than two decades.
Jeremy, 68, whose legal name is Ronald Jeremy Hyatt, pleaded not guilty in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday to all of the allegations, which include 12 counts of rape.
The indictment, which was returned Aug. 19 and unsealed Wednesday, covers allegations dating from 1996 to 2019 with victims aged 15 to 51. The counts appear to be identical to charges filed against Jeremy last year, which he also denied.
In a tactical move also employed in their case against Harvey Weinstein, LA County prosecutors used secret grand jury proceedings to get an indictment that replaces the original charges, allowing them to skip a public preliminary hearing on the evidence & proceed to trial.
Defense attorney Stuart Goldfarb said in an email that Jeremy’s “position is the same as when the criminal complaint was filed. He is innocent of all the charges.”
Jeremy has been held in jail on $6.6 million bail since his arrest in June 2020.
The indictment includes allegations that Jeremy raped a 19-year-old woman during a photo shoot in 1996, raped a 26-year-old woman at a nightclub in 2003 & raped a 17-year-old girl at a home in 2008.
He is also charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 2004.
No trial date has been set. Jeremy was told to return to court in October for a pretrial hearing.
Nicknamed “The Hedgehog,” Jeremy has been among the best-known and most prolific performers in the porn industry for decades, appearing in hundreds of films since the 1970s. He has also made regular appearances in mainstream films and on reality TV shows.

The man who was photographed naked underwater as a baby and later ended up on Nirvana's iconic "Nevermind" album cover filed a lawsuit Tuesday alleging he was a victim of child pornography.
The album cover shows Spencer Elden, now 30, in a swimming pool as a then-infant with his penis exposed.
The image used for the cover of Nirvana's sophomore 1991 album includes a digital imposition of a dollar bill on a fishhook that the baby looks like he is trying to grab. The cover was widely considered a rebuke of capitalism.
Nonsexualized nude photos of infants are generally not considered child pornography under law. But Elden's lawyer, Robert Y. Lewis, alleges the inclusion of currency in the shot makes the baby appear "like a sex worker."
Kurt Cobain "chose the image depicting Spencer—like a sex worker— grabbing for a dollar bill that is positioned dangling from a fishhook in front of his nude body with his penis explicitly displayed," the suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, stated.
Elden is asking for at least $150,000 from each of the defendants, who include include surviving band members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic; Courtney Love, the executor of Cobain's estate; Guy Oseary and Heather Parry, managers of Cobain's estate; photographer Kirk Weddle; art director Robert Fisher; and a number of existing or defunct record companies that released or distributed the album in the last three decades.
Original Nirvana drummer Chad Channing is also named as a defendant, even though he had been replaced by Grohl in 1990, before the album was recorded or the cover photography shot.

Jermall Charlo has been arrested ... after cops say the boxing superstar melted down at a bar and stole money from a waitress, TMZ Sports has learned.
The alleged incident all went down in San Antonio on July 16 -- the day before Charlo's brother, Jermell Charlo, fought Brian Castaño to a draw at AT&T Center.
According to police documents, Jermall was with a large party at the Texas bar when the waitress presented the group with the bill.
In the docs, cops say Jermall handed over his credit card and ID ... but the card was declined despite three attempts to run it.
When the waitress came back to Jermall asking for another form of payment ... the 31-year-old allegedly snapped.
Police say surveillance video shows Jermall "being very animated" and appearing to "be upset and yelling" at the waitress and two other managers on the scene.
In the video, according to cops, Jermall can then be seen taking away two bill collection binders from the waitress and stealing everything from the inside of them.
Cops say one of the binders had Jermall's ID in it ... while the other had "cash payment made by another customer" that the waitress had been serving previously in the night.
In the docs, cops say witnesses claim Jermall then told the bar's employees, "I will f*** you alls s*** up."
Cops say Jermall and his crew then stormed out of the bar -- "pushing their way past the employees" -- and then got into a limousine bus and left.
In the docs, the waitress told cops she suffered a minor leg injury while Jermall's crew ran into her while leaving the bar.
Arrest warrants were ultimately issued for Jermall over the incident ... and we're told the fighter turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday morning.
We're told Jermall is already in the process of posting bond.
Jermall is one of the biggest stars in boxing ... he's piled up a 32-0 record with 22 knockouts and is currently the WBC middleweight champ.

LOS ANGELES — Kanye just wants to be Ye.
Kanye West filed court documents Tuesday to legally change his name.
The Los Angeles Superior Court filing says the 44-year-old wants to get rid of his full name — Kanye Omari West — in favor of just his longtime two-letter nickname, Ye, with no middle name or last name.
The documents, dated Aug. 11 but not sent into the court system until Tuesday, cite “personal reasons” for the change. An email seeking comment from the attorney who filed the documents was not immediately returned.
A judge must approve of the change before it becomes official.
West, who has called himself Ye on his social media pages for years, tweeted that he wanted the change in 2018, saying, “the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE.”
The moniker was also the title of his 2018 album. He has said in interviews that, along with being a shortening of his first name he likes, that it’s a word used throughout the Bible.
West is in the middle of a divorce with Kim Kardashian West, who did not ask that her last name be changed back to just Kardashian when she filed to split from him in February. The couple’s four children also have his last name.
He has been holding a series of stadium listening parties for his forthcoming 10th studio album “Donda,” which is scheduled to be released before the end of August.

OnlyFans says it has suspended a plan to ban sexually explicit content following an outcry from its creators and advocates for sex workers.
The subscription site said in a prepared statement Wednesday that the planned ban was “no longer required due to banking partners’ assurances that OnlyFans can support all genres of creators” and declined to answer further questions.
OnlyFans had said last Thursday that it would ban explicit content starting Oct. 1, blaming policies of banks and payment processors for the policy change. “The new rules are necessary to comply with the requirements of these financial institutions and are the only way to help ensure the long-term sustainability of OnlyFans,” the company said in a message to users last week.
Last week’s abrupt change upset the site’s creators, many of whom threatened to move to another website. A lot of sex workers joined OnlyFans during the pandemic when in-person venues shut down or became more dangerous because of COVID-19. The site has been tremendously lucrative for some people, allowing them to earn thousands every month. OnlyFans says it has 130 million users and 2 million creators who have collectively earned $5 billion.
Lacy Lennon, who says she makes tens of thousands of dollars a month from OnlyFans charging $100 a minute for custom videos, remains skeptical on the ban reversal. “What’s scary is what’s the safety on this? How do we know it won’t happen again?”
There are other sites where people can pay for porn, and a crop of new ones started trying to lure upset OnlyFans creators. Rapper Tyga was promoting his plans for a new platform called myystar in media interviews after OnlyFans announced their ban, saying, “We’re not putting a limit to any content that you do.”
“We’ve been in the adult industry for 20 years and we’re tired of seeing sex workers get bullied and exploited by the platforms that make the money off them,” said Mattie McCoy, whose Nevada company is also developing a site that could offer an alternative to OnlyFans for sex workers, called Naughty Popcorn.
The online porn industry is changing amid concerns about sex trafficking and the exploitation of minors. Two 2018 laws, the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act and the Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act, were meant to stop sex trafficking online, and led some spaces to shut down. But many sex workers say these changes have also made their jobs more dangerous.

A teacher’s aide who was accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old student at a school for children with developmental & emotional issues has died by suicide, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.
Jennilynne Derolf, 38, of Levittown, was charged in July with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, institutional sexual assault, and related offenses. She pleaded not guilty & was freed after posting $10,000 bail.
On Sunday, police said, she shot herself in the head as the victim looked on. The victim’s grandparents contacted police Sunday, saying Derolf had reached out to the boy to arrange a meeting, in violation of the conditions of her bail. When police found Derolf & the teen parked along a secluded road in Falls Township, she shot herself. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The boy was not injured.
Derolf had worked as a teacher’s aide at Valley Day School in Falls Township, an institution that caters to students with special needs. There, she befriended the teenager & began messaging him through Discord, a social media app.
The boy’s grandparents discovered the relationship & notified police, the affidavit said.
In an interview, the boy told detectives that what began as friendly conversation between the two led to in-person meetings at places in Lower Bucks County, including Levittown Lake & Falls Township Park. Starting in June, the affidavit said, Derolf initiated intimate contact with the boy &investigators learned of at least three incidents inside her vehicle in the weeks before her arrest.
