The suspect in the Denver movie theater shooting, who allegedly killed a reported 12 people and injured at least 38 at a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises," has been identified as James Holmes.

Holmes is reportedly a 24-year-old white American male, the Associated Press reported on Friday morning. The young man opened fire around 12:30 a.m. MDT Friday morning at the Century Aurora 16 movie theater in Aurora, Colo.

Law enforcement officers told ABC News that Holmes was dressed in all black and wearing a bulletproof vest and gas mask.

Moviegoers told the AP that Holmes released some sort of smoke and, at first, they believed the attack was part of the show. He reportedly entered through an exit door at the front of the theater, threw tear gas and then began shooting.

According to CBS News, authorities have found no evidence to suggest the incident was terrorism-related. Holmes was not on any watch list that could have alerted authorities that he was dangerous, NBC reported. He also has no military history.

Police found four guns at the theater including two pistols, a rifle and a shotgun.

Holmes was apprehended by police in the movie theater parking lot and did not resist arrest. The car he was driving had Tennessee license plates.

A San Diego woman who identified herself as James Holmes' mother told ABC News that she was unaware of the shooting when she first awoke Friday morning and had not yet been contacted by authorities. She did, however, express concern that her son was involved in the shooting.

James Holmes

"You have the right person," she told ABC News, speaking on what ABC deemed gut instinct. "I need to call the police... I need to fly out to Colorado."

Holmes had not had any previous run-ins with the law, other than a "minor" traffic ticket in 2011, police spokesman Frank Fania told "Today."

CBS News correspondent Bob Orr reported that police found Holmes' residence "booby-trapped" and discovered "buckets of extra ammunition" and some kind of chemical in his home. Police had the apartment building evacuated.

Thus far, Holmes appears to have been the lone gunman.

Snoop Dogg and producer Diplo have teamed up to record a full fledged reggae album where Snoop will be singing.

"Snoop Dogg is an icon, man; he's bigger than the music," Diplo told MTV in June. "What we're doing is a reggae record. It's like Snoop Dogg and Major Lazer together. It's all reggae and he's singing and he's doing a f*cking awesome job and I never knew it, but he had his heart in every song. ... We're going to get back into the production of it next month, and I'm really proud of that record. It's the first record I've ever executive-produced and his crew is amazing."

Snoop just released the first song "La La La" from the collaboration. Expect 17 more tracks soon.

When the file sharing website Megaupload was shut down by the feds in January several arrests were made including that of the company's owner Kim Schmitz aka Kim Dotcom. Others arrested included company co-founder Mathias Ortman, as well as chief marketing officer Finn Batao, and developer Bram van der Kolk.

The arrests occurred in New Zealand at the request of the FBI. The four were charged with "with running an international organized criminal enterprise allegedly responsible for massive worldwide online piracy of numerous types of copyrighted works through Megaupload.com and other related sites"

12349397870?profile=original

At the time of those arrests Swizz Beatz, real name Kasseem Dean, was cleared of responsibility "because his role in the company was loose and unfinalized." Now according to MTV the federal government is claiming that "Swizz was involved with the company and they are specifically using his involvement in an attempt to try the case in the United States."

Swizz was listed as a CEO of the company at the time it was taken down, but his lawyer would later claim that his involvement was only an endorsement and that Swizz had no real involvement in running the company.

The federal government is now disputing that fact. U.S. attorney Neil MacBridge says that Swizz represented Megaupload in front of the United States Trade Representative in December 2011, which indicates he was officially involved and gives the opportunity for the federal government to try a case against the site within the United States.

"After Defendant Dotcom became Defendant Megaupload's Chief Innovation Officer, the company appears to have employed at least two Chief Executive Officers in the United States: first David Robb and then Kasseem David Dean (also known as Swizz Beatz)," a filing by MacBridge connecting Swizz to Megaupload reads.

Swizz has yet to comment publicly on the most recent filing, but it appears likely he will be served a summons and have to defend himself in the upcoming court proceedings.

Former Hot Boys rapper B.G. was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Wednesday for a variety of charges including weapons violation, obstruction of justice and witness tampering. His former label mate Juvenile reached out to AllHipHop.com to talk about the sentencing and to warn kids against following a csimilar path.

I don’t feel good about it. It’s one of those situations where you get sick in your stomach,” Juvenile told AllHipHop.com. “I wish nothing but good things for him and his family, his kids, because you don’t want to see nobody go get locked up that long and be away from their family."

Though he found plenty of success throughout his 15-year recording career, B.G. battled heroin addiction and couldn't manage to stay out of trouble with the law. Juvenile says B.G.'s story should be a lesson to today's youth.

I try to tell all the youngsters out there man, if you want to be gangster and go out there and thug-out and go out there and do certain things, just know there’s consequences,” Juvenile said.. “It was a situation where it shouldn’t have happened; I wish it would have never happened. I wish he never would have got pulled over or whatever, but it happened. I just wish and am hoping that all you other cats out there take heed to that and don’t make the same mistake.
