STAR talks Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls) being hurt again, blocking overzealous males on Twitter, American Music Awards re-cap and interview with author Silk White from the new book "Stranded."

Radio legend Troi Torain (STAR) always delivers hard-hitting objective truth. As a culture critic he is vicious, as a businessman he is relentless, as a luminary he is un-matched.

12350019290?profile=original

Considered a radio pioneer by many, STAR has set precedents on the urban landscape and was recently inducted into News One's "Top 20 Black Radio Jockeys Of All Time."

STAR & BUC WILD made the national stage on MTV (1999) but it was their radio show on New York's Hot 97 and Power 105 (2000 - 2006) that secured their place in Hip-Hop history.

Torain's resume includes The Source magazine, MTV Networks, Hot 97, Power 104.1, Power 105.1, Pulse 87, Hip-Hop Weekly magazine, Vladtv, Thisis50, 100.3 The Beat, shot97.com and VH1 (The Gossip Game).

This clip is from STAR's LIVE show (12noon -- 2pm) on http://shot97.com.

Video After The Jump

Kanye West made his way to The Breakfast Club today to talk with Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy and Angela Yee about a variety of topics.

West spoke about his frustration with corporations, working to secure his daughter's future, why he chose to go with Jay Z over Dame Dash when Roc-A-Fella Records split, denies dropping Big Sean from G.O.O.D. Music at one point, explains why money has become so important to him, purposely making the "Bound 2" music video look bizarre, being the Tupac Shakur of product, being the biggest rock star on the planet, ruffling the feathers of George Bush and President Obama, getting the girl he wanted, Yeezus and more.

This was one of the best West interviews ever because Charlamagne challenges the rapper throughout instead of letting him go on a continuous rant.

LAB Records Releases Los Angeles Rapper Omar Cruz’s Mixtape, The Book of Omar

LAB Records has recently released the mixtape, The Book of Omar by Los Angeles rapper, Omar Cruz. With the introduction of this unique project, everyone interested in listening to powerful, dynamic music will certainly have fun and enjoy the different rhythms complimented by Omar Cruz with this mixtape. The Book of Omar will be released on major mixtape websites such as Datpiff.com, HotNewHipHop.com and many more. Its availability is completely free on the 25th of November 2013. Interested individuals may acquire hard copies of the mixtape at www.LosAngelesBasedRecords.com. The project features Glasses Malone, Crooked I, Ty $, Compton Menace, Aztek Escobar, K-Young and more. From beginning to end the caliber of music is strong on this mixtape, so everyone should make sure to check it out.

Omar Cruz is a Latino recording artist from Los Angeles, California who began his journey in the mid to late 2000s. He is one of the most talented rappers to have graced the microphone. His popularity in the underground mixtape circuit resulted in a major-label recording contract with Interscope/Geffen in 2006. The son of a Mexican mother and Colombian father, Cruz was born in L.A. and grew up in the South Central region close to Crenshaw. Omar was initially inspired by the music of Rakim, Big Daddy Kane and most of all N.W.A. Subsequently, he found Latino rappers namely Big Punisher and Cypress Hill influential along with Los Angeles rappers like 2Pac, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

Gradually drawn into the hip-hop scene, Cruz initially adopted the name Blunts LLA (Latin Lyrical Assassin). As Blunts LLA, he introduced two underground mixtapes namely 2004’s City of Gods and Blow in 2005. After his name change to Omar Cruz, he further increased his popularity with the release of Cruzifixion in 2006 and 2007 B.C. in 2007. Cruz has collaborated with artists like The Game, Pitbull, WC, Nipsey Hussle, Jay Rock, Ya Boy, Joell Ortiz, Paul Wall, Baby Bash, Sick Jacken, Skeme and many more.

In 2006, Cruz signed a record deal with Interscope/Geffen Records and began work on his major label debut album titled, Sign of the Cruz. The first single I Hang With My Dogz produced by Javie Lopez was met with a positive response and followed up with To The Top ft. Frankie J. In 2008 Omar signed on to be the host of Pimpeando on MTV Tr3s, a Latino version of Pimp My Ride. By 2009, on the heels of an anticipated album release, label politics and mismanagement began disrupting plans for the Sign of the Cruz. He released one more mixtape in 2010 titled The Hand of God and by 2011 was officially released from his contract.

After taking a two-year hiatus from the music industry, in 2012 he then partnered with Los Angeles engineer/producer Kev Da Khemist and formed the independent music label known as Los Angeles Based (LAB) Records. The first major release from this indie label is The Book of Omar street/mixtape album. It is actually the introduction to the long awaited debut album from Omar Cruz, The Passion Of Cruz.

Chief Keef will have to double his grind now that he has another mouth to feed. The 18-year old Chicago rapper has been positively proven to be the father of a 10-month old baby by a young woman by the name of Erica Early.

Keef's lawyer confirmed to TMZ that a DNA test shows there is 99.9% chance his client is the father. He's been ordered to pay a lump sum of $25,000 back pay, plus $2,500 a month in child support moving forward.

12350481856?profile=original

The rapper just cut a check for $11,000 last month to reduce the $20,900 sum he was behind in child support to the mother of his first child. He was ordered by a Cook County, Illinois judge on October 21 to either pay up or head back to jail.

Kanye West has flexed his economic muscles to the heads of Gucci and Louis Vuitton. The rapper, formerly known as the Louis Vuitton Don, is trying to make moves in the worlds of fashion and business. At this point he's not above making threats to get his way.

He also believes he will go down as one of the most important men in the history of the world.

12350480258?profile=original

Kanye sat down with Toro of radio station 92.3 NOW New York today and had this to say.

"What happened while I was out in Paris to meet with the head of Louis Vuitton. He said, 'I don't know why I should meet with you.' I said let me explain to you or the head of Gucci why you should meet with me. 'Everybody in New York don't buy Louis Vuitton until after January.' Now do you wanna meet with me? Influence, they think that I don't realize my power. They wanna marginalize me. I'm not gonna be 45 years old in the club. I'mma be running a content. experience and product company. I'm gonna be what y'all consider or classify as the new Disney, as the new Steve Jobs, as the new Howard Hughes, as the new David Stern, as the new Michaelangelo. That's where I'mma be.".

West also talked about his dealings with Nike and big corporations

“When I had the opportunity to work with Nike, what I asked them to do is create a small facility for me to be able to continue to create and allow me to get royalties off of what I created. They said, ‘No. We won’t give you royalties because you’re not a professional athlete.’ I said, ‘What about the Yeezys?’ They said, ‘We don’t care about that.’ So I went to a different company that's gonna support, let me create and let me get royalties. 'Cause at the end of the day, it’s cool to be cool. But people lining up for the Yeezys and daddy not getting paid ain’t gonna mean nothing to North ten years from now. I see what time it is. It's Drake season. They would love for someone who's as rebellious as me to lose relevance. They want to marginalize me until I’m no longer relevant."

Kid Cudi has announced that he will be releasing a new EP titled SATELLITE FLIGHT: The Journey To Mother Moon. The project will feature production from Cudi's go-to guy and fellow WZRD member Dot Da Genius. King Chip will also make an appearance.

12350485062?profile=original

The EP will serve as a prelude to Cudi's next album, Man on the Moon III, which is due out in 2015. The rapper talked about the EP during a Dallas concert last month, but didn't announce the title until today via his Twitter account.

"This will be a prelude to Man on the Moon III," Cudi told the Dallas crowd. "It's all attached to the story. When Man on the Moon III comes out, you'll be able to play this EP and segue it into Man on the Moon III. It will be a seamless connection."

The thing people respect about N.O.R.E.'s interviews is he generally gives it to you raw and uncut. He recently sat down with Montreality and offered his opinion on Trinidad James' recent comments about Atlanta running New York musically.

12350478072?profile=original

"I think he's a smart idiot," N.O.R.E. said of James. "I think his comments were actually brilliant, but his actions were idiotic. I get the fact that you wanna be like Suge Knight and say something about a city while you're in that city. But you was aggressive. If he would have said those same comments and been like, 'Yo, this is y'all fault,' we would have been able to look in the mirror and been like, 'damn.' But the fact he was like, 'So what, if y'all wanna do something.' You're not giving us advice. You don't give advice by saying, 'If you don't do this I'mma smack the sh*t out you.'"

There's a lot more to the interview, peep it below.
