Radio legend Troi Torain (STAR) always delivers hard-hitting objective truth. As a culture critic he is vicious, as a businessman he is relentless, as a luminary he is un-matched.

Considered radio pioneers by many, Star & Buc Wild have set precedents on the urban landscape and were recently inducted into News One's "Top 20 Black Radio Jockeys Of All Time."

Star & Buc Wild made the national stage on MTV (1999) but it was their radio show on New York's Hot 97 (2000 - 2003) that secured their place in Hip-Hop history.

Star & Buc Wild's resume includes The Source magazine, MTV Networks, Hot 97, Power 104.1, Power 105.1, Pulse 87, Hip-Hop Weekly magazine, Vladtv, Thisis50, 100.3 The Beat and shot97.com and VH1 (Reality Television).

This clip is from STAR'S LIVE show (12noon - 2pm) on http://shot97.com.

Ciara was recently out in the U.K. promoting her forthcoming self titled album. She stopped by Tim Westwood's show to talk about Future, working with Nicki Minaj, possibly being the reason Rihanna didn't shoot a music video for her collaboration with Future, "Loveeee Song" and more.

Recording artists are increasingly starting to feel heat from various groups and critics about their song lyrics. Is it an attempt to censor what they say? Or are artists being careless and not clearly thinking through the ramifications some of their songs might have before they put them out?

The latest person catching flack for song lyrics is Robin Thicke. His song "Blurred Lines" has shot to the top of the charts and is getting heavy spins on radio stations across the country. At the same time there are a growing number of people who find the song offensive and it's lyrics "rapey."

12350176280?profile=original

Has anyone heard Robin Thicke's new rape song? Basically, the majority of the song…has the R&B singer murmuring ‘I know you want it’ over and over into a girl’s ear. Call me a cynic, but that phrase does not exactly encompass the notion of consent in sexual activity," Lisa Huynh of Feminist in LA wrote in April.

Thicke himself admits the song, which was originally accompanied by a video full of naked females degrades women.

People say, ‘Hey, do you think this is degrading to women?’ I'm like, ‘Of course it is. What a pleasure it is to degrade a woman," Thicke told GQ last month. "I've never gotten to do that before. I've always respected women.’ So we just wanted to turn it over on its head and make people go, ‘Women and their bodies are beautiful. Men are always gonna want to follow them around.’”

CNN's Erin Burnett had a panel of guests on her show recently to debate whether or not the song promoted rape.

Burnett and radio show host Stephanie Miller thought it did, while political comedian Dean Obeidallah and CNN contributor Reihan Salam came down on the other side of the fence.

Kanye West's new album Yeezus is being hailed by most critics as a great album and is expected to have good first week sales. But a line in one of it's songs has managed to anger some because of it's Parkinson's Disease reference.

The song in question is "On Sight." In it Yeezy raps, "A monster about to come alive again / Soon as I pull up and park the Benz / We get this b*tch shaking like Parkinson's."

The line is being criticized by the American Parkinson Disease Association. The organization's Vice President Kathryn Whitford told TMZ the lyrics showed ignorance on Kanye's part.

"We find these lyrics distasteful and the product of obvious ignorance," she said.

The APDA was founded 50 years ago and is the largest organization in the United States dedicated to  finding a cure for Parkinson's and helping those with the disease.

Kanye has yet to comment on the controversy.

A twisted fan threatened to murder a child if J. Cole didn't retweet him last night on Twitter. The sicko said he would by buy Cole's new album if the rapper retweeted his message. If not, he wrote that he would kill his little sister. A picture of a hand holding a gun pointed at a little girl was included in the tweet.

Cole did retweet the message and later wrote it's the craziest thing he's ever seen on Twitter.

12350180089?profile=original

The person that made the threat just tweeted that it was an unloaded BB gun in the picture and that people should lighten up.

12350180287?profile=original

Obviously this idiot fails to realize that pointing any kind of gun at a child is not anyone's idea of a joke.

TMZ contacted the police in Cole's home state of North Carolina to see if they were investigating the incident. So far they haven't heard anything about it.

**UPDATE** June 19th.

TMZ is reporting that an investigation into the incident has been started by the New Braunfels Police Department in Texas. The 19-year old man who sent the tweet has issued an apology.

I'd like to apologize to America for the photo and to put J. Cole in that position. It was all a joke. It was an unloaded BB gun and my sister was in on it. I only tweeted it because I didn't expect a response. Mr. Cole please don't sue me. I want to formally apologize more to J. Cole and yeah my mom made me delete my twitter until I fixed it.

Police confirmed that is is a BB gun in the picture and say the man is "is cooperating and it seems this was just a bad lapse in judgment."

"For now this is still an open investigation, and for the time being no charges are being filed," a police spokesperson added.
