Adele, LMFAO, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne lead the finalists for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, which will take place at Las Vegas' MGM Grand and be broadcast live Sunday May 20, 8/7c on ABC.

Adele takes the lead as a finalist in 18 award categories, including Top Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Billboard 200 Artist. "Rolling In The Deep," the lead single from her blockbuster sophomore album "21," places the U.K. singer as a contender in seven song categories.

Meanwhile, LMFAO is a finalist in 17 award categories, although the electro-pop duo actually scored 22 entries compared to Adele's 20. LMFAO and Adele will square off in the Top Hot 100 Artist category, which also includes Bruno Mars, Katy Perry and Rihanna.

Speaking of Rihanna, the pop superstar is a finalist in 13 categories this year, after leading the pack with 18 category appearances in 2011. Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne each snagged a spot in 10 categories, and will both compete against Adele, Rihanna and Katy Perry for the prestigious Top Artist prize. And the Top New Artist category features a diverse collection of fresh talent, with Bad Meets Evil, Big Sean, Foster The People, Scotty McCreery and Wiz Khalifa serving as the 2012 finalists.

The awards will reflect Billboard's chart rankings based on key fan interactions with music, including album sales and downloads, track downloads, radio airplay and touring as well as streaming and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, Vevo, Youtube, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music. These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound. The awards will be based on the reporting period of March 1, 2011 through February 29, 2012. Top artists will be recognized in a variety of genres, including R&B, Rap, Pop, Country, Rock, Latin and Alternative.

Two days after being convicted of second-degree murder, G. Dep spoke to MTV News on Thursday (April 19), where he reacted to the verdict from behind bars.

"However it went down, it was just one of them things where I knew I was facing some type of charge, so whatever the verdict was, I knew it was God's will," Dep said by phone as he awaits sentencing in lockup.

The former Bad Boy rapper, born Trevell Coleman, was found guilty on Tuesday of killing John Henkel in a botched robbery attempt nearly two decades ago in his hometown of Harlem. Coleman made headlines in 2010 after he confessed — unprovoked — that he had committed the crime in a surprising confession to police at Manhattan's 25th precinct. At the time, Coleman said that he longed to clear his conscience.

Although he took blame for the shooting, Coleman's lawyer, Anthony Ricco, argued in court last week that the victim was not the same man that police had pinned to the crime.

Despite the outcome, the 37-year-old seemed at peace with the judgment call. "You know, someone was taken from [the Henkel] family, so I can't feel like I was robbed in any kind of way," he said. "I just want to thank everyone that was involved in the case. I don't have no ill thoughts towards anybody."

That is if you don't count a few reporters who covered the case for New York's Daily News.

"I just wanna let people know there's a couple of reporters out there that's just talking that talk," he snarled. "I just had to make sure everything was everything," he explained about his decision to fight the charge in court. "I was already putting myself out there. I had to make sure everything was what it was. That's why the trial even was on."

G. Dep signed to Diddy's Bad Boy Records in 1998, and went on to release his debut LP, Child of the Ghetto, in 2001. The record spawned two well-received singles, "Let's Get It" and "Special Delivery," but Dep's rap career failed to take off. By 2003, he had parted ways with Bad Boy. Coleman took another stab at the industry, dropping a mixtape the following year, but his various arrests and battles with drug abuse thwarted those efforts.

Dep is scheduled for sentencing on May 8, when he'll face up to 15 years in jail.

"I'ma just stay strong and hopefully I'll see y'all in the near future or the far future," Dep said when asked how he feels about the impending jail time. "I know life goes on, praise God. And one day maybe I could say hello to y'all again."

Tupac Shakur's hologram performance at Coachella might just be the tip of the iceberg for deceased artists. Could the King of Pop, Michael Jackson be next?

Jackson's brothers Tito, Jermaine, Jackie and Marlon are planning a 27-city tour and MJ could make an appearance.

"It could have Michael—absolutely," Jackie told E! Online. "Wouldn't that be wonderful? As a matter of fact, we had that idea two years ago for Michael's Cirque du Soleil show."

The brothers are still working out a set list for what they are calling the Unity Tour 2012.

"There are so many songs," Jackie said. "That's the hardest part because we want to include all the favorites and not leave anything out. We're going to sing some of Michael's stuff, too. We're going to honor him on the stage. He'd want us to do our thing to the best of our ability."

The tour will launch June 18 in Louisville, Kentucky.

As we previously reported, a possible tour with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent , Eminem and Tupac Shakur's hologram is being discussed. TMZ caught up with Dre Wednesday night to get information about the would be mega tour and what other possibilities the hologram technology could produce.

"Hopefully different artists are able to bring out their favorite artist. Hopefully we can see Jimi Hendrix...you know Marvin Gaye. We'll see what happens," Dre said.

When asked about a possible 2Pac hologram tour Dre said he was "thinking about it."

When you name your first album The New Classic you're setting the bar really high for yourself. For your fans nothing short of a "classic" will do, but Iggy Azalea is confident enough to put it out there and she explains why in a conversation with MTV's Hip Hop POV panel.

I think people think of classic and they think of a Nas record or a Jay-Z record or The Chronic," Iggy said. “What makes something classic is when you hear it and you have that moment that is a time capsule and you can remember what you were doing. When I say The New Classic, I just want to make records that give you that moment for fans that they can remember where they were when they heard it.

Do you think Iggy will be able to deliver a classic on her debut?
