The violence in Mexico is starting to affect U.S. citizens as well.
Last week 2 high school students were shot and killed in Ciudad Juarez while at a car dealership. In March 2010 a couple associated with the U.S. consulate were also killed in Juarez. In October 2010 a couple was fired upon as they returned to the U.S. from a sightseeing trip along the U.S. border near Matamoros. David Hartley was killed, while his wife Tiffany, barely escaped with her life.
Now comes word that two U.S. ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) were ambushed yesterday (February 15) at what they thought was a security checkpoint 100 miles outside of Mexico City.
One was killed, while the other was wounded.
The attack marks the 1st time a U.S. agent was killed in the line of duty in Mexico since 1985, when a Drug Enforcement Administration officer was captured, tortured, and killed while on assignment there.
"ICE is working with the U.S. State Department, Mexican authorities and other U.S. law enforcement partners to investigate the shooting. Our thoughts and prayers are with our colleagues," ICE officials said in a statement.

Maybe he is just caught up in the moment and not thinking clearly, but Pharrell Williams of the group N.E.R.D., and production team The Neptunes appears to be doing the goose-step during a concert in Las Vegas earlier this week.
The goose-step is a military march that dates back to the 1600's, but is most closely associated with Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany.
Pharrell's reps told TMZ, "You can't see it because his hand isn't in the picture, but Pharrell is throwing up the Star Trek sign, which is also the sign for his record label, Star Trak. To suggest that he is doing anything else is wrong and downright silly."
What do you think? Is Pharell "Star-Trek-ing" or goose-stepping?

Will Gucci Mane ever live down getting that ice cream cone tattoo on his face? Not as long as there are stand up comedians like Mike Epps around to keep reminding everyone.
Epps goes in on Gucci Mane and fellow 1017 Brick Squad member, Waka Flocka. As well as Nicki Minaj for having Tourette's syndrome and Officer Ricky Ross for always rapping about food.

Leave it to George Lopez to bring some levity to the Grammys red carpet Sunday night, where most of the artists take themselves way too seriously.
George sent comedian Jack Vale out to confuse the hell out of everyone from Nicki Minaj to Chamillionaire.
A few people like Ricky Martin caught on quickly, but others like Miley Cyrus failed to catch lines such as "salad mixed with an anal tart, it's great." To which she replied "yeah, it's amazing." LOL

In the wake of the poor performance of her latest album 'Basic Instinct', singer Ciara wants out of her deal with Jive.
When the album was released it sold only 37,000 copies it's 1st week out, making it's debut at # 62 on the Billboard charts.
Out of the three singles released, "Gimme Dat", "Ride" and "Speechless", only "Ride cracked Billboards top 10 Hot Rap/R&B tracks.
Amid rumors that she had been dropped from Jive, Ciara decided to air the situation out. She claims the problems with the label go back as far as her 2009 album "Fantasy Ride."
Below is her statement via her Facebook page
To my fans:
This week the net has been a buzz of the rumor that I have been dropped from my label. At this point that rumor is false.. It is true that I have asked and I pray that my label will release me. I have had some great times and success with my label, but sometimes like all great things, it's at that point where I feel we don't share the same views on who I am as an artist. The past two albums have been very frustrating for me. At times there were songs I chose to lead a project and I was ignored! This project, I even tried to get "Gimmie Dat" started I spent tens of thousands of my own money only to hear the radio PDs tell me my label didn't want the song played. I even spent more than one hundred thousand dollars out of my pocket on the video to bring my vision to it and still no label support. I do understand that some labels are not financially supporting their artists and I have become one of them. You, my fans, know that I strive to do my best to deliver to my you the best songs and creative vision I possibly can. I'm dedicated to my music, performance and to my fans! I've tried to be a team player with the label only to have compromised what I truly believed and was not given the right opportunity to promote and inform my fans of the release of this album. I have so much of me as an artist I still want to give to the world and my fans. A release would allow me to go be creative with people who care and understand me as an artist. In a short time, I will be able to bring to you a new music energy and a visual excitement! Thank you so much for standing by me through the good, bad, and the confusion. I love you all.
Love Ciara
We'll keep monitoring the situation to see what develops.

That boy young J. Cole uses Paris as a backdrop for his new video.
Filmed while on his European tour with Drake, the duo do justice to this track off J. Cole's mixtape 'Friday Night Lights.'
Rihanna's new video for "S&M" is loud, flashy, fetishy and possibly completely stolen from Dave LaChapelle's work.
A lawsuit filed today (February 14), on the U.S. fashion photographer's behalf alleges the "music video is directly derived from and substantially similar to the LaChapelle works."
The suit also alleges that "Rihanna had appropriated eight of his images into the video, such as a shot where she is shown in profile against a blue background with a piece of candy on her tongue. LaChapelle said Rihanna's video copied the 'composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, decors, wardrobe and lighting' of his work."
LaChapelle has shot cebrities for magazines such as Rolling Stone, Vogue, GQ and Vanity Fair. He is suing for unspecified damages according to Reuters.
The "S&M" video has been a real pain for RiRi. It's been banned in several countries, while youtube has made it age restricted. It might have seemed like a great idea on paper, but the execution was obviously lacking.

Debarge has checked himself into a rehab center to deal with substance abuse issues that have plagued him for 25 years reports Billboard.
"I hate to disappoint my fans but it is necessary for me to take the time to work on me so that I may continue to share my music and my story with everyone," the singer said in a statement. "I thank everyone in advance for their prayers and well wishes and hope that you will respect my privacy during this time."
Debarge was arrested 4 times for cocaine, crack and domestic abuse issues from 2001 to 2008. Following his last arrest in 2008, his probation was revoked and he was sent to federal prison on a 2 year sentence.
He was released in October 2009 and began working on a comeback album titled 'Second Chance.'
The album has features from 50 Cent and Faith Evans, it has been very well received.
The single "Lay With You" featuring Faith sits at # 20 on Billboards Top R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart.
Debarge also had to cancel his upcoming tour that was scheduled to start February 17 in Houston, Texas. Singer Musiq Soulchild will take his place.
We wish nothing but the best for El and hope he can get a handle on things.

Marijuana users sometimes report that pot enhances their desire for sex. But a new review of research on marijuana and sexual health suggests that male smokers could be courting sexual dysfunction.
Research on the topic is contradictory and few studies are high-quality, said study researcher Rany Shamloul, a physician with appointments at the University of Ottawa and Queen's University in Canada as well as the University of Cairo. But recent research – including the finding that the penis contains receptors for marijuana's active ingredient – suggests that young men may want to think about long-term effects before rolling a joint, Shamloul told LiveScience.
"It's a strong message to our younger generations and younger men," Shamloul said.
Shamloul reported his findings online Jan. 26 in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
Sex and drugs
Scientists first began to study marijuana and sex in the 1970s. Some researchers found that cannabis seemed to have the effect of a love drug; in one 1982 study published in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs, 75 percent of male pot smokers said the drug enhanced their sex lives. Meanwhile, another study published in the same journal the same year found that erectile dysfunction was twice as common in marijuana users – not such good news for lit lotharios. Other research suggests a dose effect, in which small amounts of marijuana have little impact on sexual dysfunction, but more marijuana makes for fewer erections.
But problems are rife with this research, Shamloul said, because none of the studies used validated measurement techniques when surveying men about their sexual function. The different questions used could skew the responses, as could the drug itself, he noted in the review. The 39 percent of men in the original 1982 study who said marijuana extended the duration of sex may just have been experiencing the drug's altering effects on the perception of time.
What most concerns Shamloul is a study published in 2010 in the
journal European Urology. In that study, researchers found receptors for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active ingredient in marijuana, in penis tissue from five male patients and six rhesus monkeys. These receptors were mainly in the smooth muscle of the penis, Shamloul said. Additional lab studies suggest that THC has an inhibitory effect on the muscle.
"This is a more serious effect on the erectile function because the smooth muscle makes up 70 percent to 80 percent of the penis itself," Shamloul said.
Men and marijuana
Marijuana use is widespread, especially among men at their sexual peak in life, Shamloul said. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime reports that 162 million people worldwide use marijuana each year. More than 22 million use it daily. That makes understanding long-term effects important, Shamloul said.
People tend to focus on the possible upsides of marijuana more than the possible downsides, said Sharon Johnson, a professor of social work at the University of Missouri, St. Louis, who has studied marijuana use and sexual health in the past. Her study, published in 2004 in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior, found that marijuana users have a slightly elevated risk of inhibited orgasms and pain during sex. (Johnson was not involved in Shamloul's review study.)
Research on sexual health and marijuana use in women is even less common than studies in men, Shamloul said.
"What we are really missing are clinical studies," Shamloul said.
"We are stuck with only animal studies and molecular studies, and some clinical studies done in the '60s and '70s, most on a very small number of men… We need well-designed, placebo-control studies examining marijuana's effect in both the short-term and long-term."

Just as well because Breezy came up short with 0 wins out of his 3 nominations. Chris took to his twitter to let his fans know how he felt about coming away empty handed.
"To all the fans!! I love y'all. Don't be upset!! This industry is based on politics and asskissing! My only concern is team breezy! F*ck everybody else!" Brown tweeted.
In more upbeat news for the singer, he just tweeted a pic of the cover for his new album 'F.A.M.E.'
The album will be in stores on March 22, 2011.

On a night where Lady Gaga arrived in an egg, the biggest surprise of the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards had to be Drake and Justin Bieber losing out to Esperanza Spalding for Best New Artist.
The consensus amongst most people heading into the night was that the award would go to either Bieber or Drake, but Spalding, a jazz singer and bassist walked away with the coveted prize.
Also how did Florence Welch and Martina McBride end up in a tribute to Aretha Franklin? That kind of tribute should be done by singers who can belt out an Aretha tune. Jennifer Hudson, Yolanda Adams and Christina Aguilera also took part in the tribute.

I have to give a lot of credit to the Strikeforce organization for putting on a heavyweight tournament.
The tournaments are MMA fan favorites because of their unpredictable nature and because you are almost always assured of a couple of big named opponents fighting each other. That's one of the reasons Japan's Pride was very popular with American fans before they were bought out by the UFC.
Last night we saw two really good fights and one surprising upset.
The big upset involved Russia's Fedor Emelianenko who took on Brazil's Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva. Fedor was outweighed by 35-40 pounds, but size difference had never been that big of a problem before as he built a (31-2, 1 NC) record coming into the bout. Silva's MMA record was (15-2).
The fight was all out action from the opening bell as Fedor was aggressive as usual, landing several power shots. Silva attempted to wear his smaller opponent down by leaning on him against the cage, but without much effect.
Round 1 goes to Fedor on 2 judges cards and to Silva by 1 judge.
The second round starts with Silva making an adjustment that would prove to be the demise of Fedor.
Silva immediately takes Fedor to the ground where Fedor just could not deal with him.
Silva beat him up in several different ways. He mounted Fedor and rained down punches, which forced Fedor to flip onto his stomach, giving up his back to the Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt who tried to submit him by rear-naked choke. This sequence of event happened several times.
Silva then tried a side-choke, but Fedor fought his way out of it. Then Silva went for a knee bar in the final seconds of the round as Fedor tried and ankle lock. Neither was effective as the round ended.
At the end of the round, Fedor's face was a bloody, swollen mess. With his right eye completely shut, the fight was stopped and Silva was declared the winner by TKO.
As a sign of respect to one of the best MMA fighters ever, Silva bowed at Fedor's feet.
Fedor took the loss hard, and talked about possibly retiring from the sport. It was his 2nd loss in a row. He lost by submission to Fabricio Werdum last year.
“Thank you very much for the support. And what happen, maybe I didn’t manage to re-adjust myself and something went wrong from the very beginning and I didn’t re-adjust myself. Maybe it’s the time to leave," Fedor said. “Yes, maybe this is last time, maybe it’s high time [to retire]. Thank God for everything. I [had] a great, beautiful sporting life. Maybe it’s God will."
In the other tournament fight Sergei Kharitonov knocked out former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski in the 1st round.
The second bracket of the tournament kicks off in April with Brett Rogers facing Josh Barnett and Fabricio Werdum taking on Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem.
