Metro Police said rapper Wiz Khalifa was cited for misdemeanor marijuana possession in Nashville on Saturday after investigators were called to his hotel room at the Holiday Inn on West End Avenue at about 8 p.m.
Wiz Khalifa, whose real name is Cameron Thomaz, 24, was in town to perform at Vanderbilt University's Rites of Spring concert, where he was the headliner.
Police said the front desk staff at the hotel called police and reported that they'd received several complaints about marijuana use in room 725, where the rapper was staying.
The front desk staff told investigators that they'd been up to the room and told the rapper and another man, Lonnie Howard, 27, about the complaints, police said.
Once officers arrived and went up to the seventh floor of the hotel, they smelled marijuana, knocked on the door to the room and when the door was opened, they saw the rapper throw a marijuana blunt out the window, police said.
When asked if there was any more marijuana in the room, both Thomaz and Howard said there wasn't, but police later found more marijuana on Howard, police said.
Both suspects later admitted to having the marijuana and were cited for the misdemeanor possession, police said.
They have until May 14 to show up at the Davidson County courthouse for booking on the charges.
According to Thomaz's Twitter account, he left Nashville on Sunday and has been in New York this week.

While out in Las Vegas lending support to Floyd Mayweather Jr. for his upcoming fight with Miguel Cotto, 50 Cent took some time out to talk with Elie Seckbach and a group of boxing reporters about a variety of subjects.
50 confirmed that his fifth studio album will be released in July, talked about his amateur boxing background and answered the often asked question regarding comparisons between Floyd and Muhammad Ali.
"I think {Floyd] is the equivalent to Ali," 50 said. "I think he is the Ali of our time, our generation. The difference is the actual messaging points. In that period Ali was a part of a movement that was a huge movement that socially made him someone different. They responded to him differently because he was willing to stand up for that in that time period. Without those issues going on it's pretty tough for you to be anywhere near in comparison to him," 50 added. "Hip hop culture is now pop culture, it's so broad. If you watch how many of the artists and people... how relevant [Floyd] is to that it says how big he is to the sport. He actually is boxing right now."
50 also talks about how he and Floyd became friends.
