MADRID (AP) — Prosecutors in Spain said Friday they would ask a court to sentence Colombian pop star Shakira to eight years and two months in prison, if she is convicted in her expected trial for alleged tax fraud.
Shakira, whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, is charged with failing to pay the Spanish government 14.5 million euros ($15 million) in taxes between 2012 and 2014. The prosecutors said they would also seek a fine of 24 million euros ($24 million).
The indictment details six charges against Shakira. The singer this week rejected a settlement deal offered by prosecutors, opting to go to trial instead. A trial date has yet to be set.
Her publicists in London said in a statement Friday that Shakira “has always cooperated and abided by the law, demonstrating impeccable conduct as an individual and a taxpayer.” The publicists accused the Spanish Tax Agency of violating her rights.
Shakira’s Spanish public relations team said earlier this week that the artist has deposited the amount she is said to owe, including 3 million euros in interest.
Prosecutors in Barcelona have alleged the Grammy winner spent more than half of each year between 2012 and 2014 in Spain and should have paid taxes in the country.
Shakira recently ended an 11-year-long relationship with FC Barcelona star Gerard Piqué, with whom she has two children. The family used to live in Barcelona.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Baltimore family is suing a Sesame Street-themed amusement park for $25 million over claims of racial discrimination, alleging multiple costumed characters ignored a 5-year-old Black girl during a meet-and-greet event last month.
The lawsuit comes in the wake of a video, shared widely on social media, showing two other Black girls apparently being snubbed by a costumed employee during a parade at the park in Langhorne, outside Philadelphia. Sesame Place apologized in a statement and promised more training for its employees after the video went viral earlier this month.
The suit, which seeks class action status, was filed in a federal court in Philadelphia against SeaWorld Parks, the owner of the Sesame Place, for “pervasive and appalling race discrimination.”
The lawsuit alleges four employees dressed as Sesame Street characters ignored Quinton Burns, his daughter Kennedi Burns and other Black guests during the meet-and-greet on June 18. The lawsuit says “SeaWorld’s performers readily engaged with numerous similarly situated white customers.”
During a press conference held Wednesday, one of the family’s attorneys, Malcolm Ruff, called for transparency from SeaWorld and for the company to compensate the Burns family. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

BOGALUSA, La. (WAFB) - Louisiana rapper, Javorius Scott, 24, known by his stage name as JayDaYoungan, was shot & killed in his hometown of Bogalusa, La. on Wednesday evening.
The rapper was known for some of his popular songs like “23 Island”, “Catch Me in Traffic”, & “Muddy Situation’”.
Police say a close family member identified as Kenyatta Scott, Sr. was also injured in the incident.
Just before 6 p.m. that evening, police received a call about a shooting in the 600 block of Superior Avenue.
Officers responding to the scene stated 1 victim was taken to Our Lady of the Angels Emergency Room.
A second victim, still on the scene, was critically wounded & treated on scene by EMS, then transported to the emergency room.
Police say while working a chaotic scene at the hospital and working the crime scene on Superior Avenue, another shooting unfolded in the 800 block of Marshall Richardson Road just after 7 p.m.
Authorities reported a car was shot, possibly related to the first shooting. The occupants were not injured in the incident.
Kenyatta Scott, Sr. was transported to another facility & is in stable condition.
Detectives say they are currently conducting interviews & working on leads.

July 27 (Reuters) - A former Minneapolis officer on Wednesday was sentenced to three years in prison on federal charges stemming from his role in George Floyd's murder, more than the punishment meted out to another policeman who also stood by while a senior officer, Derek Chauvin, killed the Black man.
U.S. District Judge Paul Magnuson sentenced J. Alexander Kueng, 28, in St. Paul on charges that he had deprived Floyd of his civil rights & failed to come to Floyd's aid as Chauvin, a white man, pinned his neck to the ground with a knee for 9 minutes.
Kueng got more time than Thomas Lane, who was sentenced to 2-1/2 years in prison last Thursday. In February, Chauvin was sentenced to 20 years & 5 months for violating Floyd's civil rights.
Tou Thao, 36, who also watched Floyd's death unfold, was to be sentenced in federal court on the same charges later on Wednesday. Kueng, Thao & Lane were found guilty by a federal jury in February.
The officers were called to a Minneapolis grocery store on May 25, 2020 & tried to take Floyd into custody on suspicion he used a fake $20 bill to buy cigarettes.
While Chauvin was kneeling on Floyd's neck, Kueng placed his knee on Floyd’s lower body & left it there for more than & minutes.
Chauvin was also convicted of intentional second-degree murder, third-degree murder & second-degree manslaughter in a state trial in 2021. He is serving a concurrent sentence of 22-1/2 years on that conviction.
In May, Lane pleaded guilty to state aiding & abetting manslaughter charges & agreed to a sentence of 3 years in prison. A trial on state charges is scheduled to be begin in January for Thao & Kueng.

A Florida woman has been arrested and accused of shooting and killing a woman during an Uber ride after a night out in Miami.
Natalia Harrell, 24, is charged with second-degree murder in the killing of Glady Borcela. Police said Harrell and Borcela were friends.
Witnesses told police Harrell and Borcela were out with others for a night of fun on Saturday in South Beach.
The women were reportedly taking an Uber to Downtown Miami when a fight between Harrell and Borcela escalated.
Surveillance video from inside the Uber shows the argument turn physical.
Witnesses told police that Harrell then ended up in the front of the Uber and kept shouting, “You don’t want this, you don’t want me to go in my purse,” the report states.
Investigators said that the video shows Harrell reaching into her purse, pulling out a gun and firing a single shot at Borcela.
Borcela was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

A.) My favorite thing about living there was having the gang and my family right there everyday.

A.) The lack of support and unity in the city, the city don't work with each other and support each other enough.

A.) Mentally struggling, but I am a survivor I will be okay, I always bounce back.
