BET’s “106 & PARK” has once again teamed up with SMACK and the Ultimate Rap League (URL) for another tremendous season of Ultimate Freestyle Friday (UFF) battle competition.  As the world’s largest and most respected platform for battle rap, BET Networks and “106 & PARK” has adopted the URL battle format bringing the popular online brand to network television. Hosted by Smack and Bow Wow, 106’s latest freestyle battle premieres Friday, March 28, 2014 at 6 pm/ET establishing Ultimate Freestyle Friday as the home true battle rap and hip-hop for fans across the globe. This season’s celebrity DJ’s and respected emcees Mobb Deep, Kid Capri, The L.O.X., Papoose, Saigon, Superstar Jay, Smif-N-Wessun, DJ Self, Shaheem Reid and Jahlil Beats will judge the 7 week competition.

"I'm really excited about doing a second season of Ultimate Freestyle Friday with ‘106 & PARK’,” said SMACK, founder of Ultimate Freestyle Friday. “Making the transition from DVDs to online and now to network television speaks volumes on the evolution on rap culture.  I've been documenting hip-hop culture for years and the SMACK / Ultimate Rap League brand is the leading force responsible for bringing MC Battle culture to masses.”
Over the course of the 7-week period, eight emcees will compete for the coveted season two Ultimate Freestyle Friday Champion title.   The season culminates with season one champion Ill Will going head-to-head with this season’s winner in the infamous 106 Backroom for the $5,000 grand prize.

"280" gang leader Diamond Brown a.k.a. Bo Gotti

New York police have arrested 10 members of the Bronx gang called "280." Among those taken into custody were Diamond "Bo Gotti" Brown and his two top lieutenants, 21-year old Jesus “Juice Bambino” Perez and Guess “Guess Loc” Carter, also 21.

Police say the gang was involved in a turf war with other gangs, including "6 Wild," "WTG,' and “Dub City." Brown allegedly instructed other members of his gang to carry out hits.

The police were tipped off to the gang's activities by postings of pictures of cash, vehicles and messages to Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

The investigation dubbed, "Operation Crew Cut," has been ongoing for a year and a half. Brown was shot at least three times by rivals between October 2012 and June 2013.

"IT REALLY COST TO BE THE BOSS," he wrote on Facebook after the latest shooting.

“Today’s indictments are the culmination of a much larger investigation into four of the city’s most violent street crews, who since 2011 were responsible for murders, shootings, gun trafficking and narcotic distribution throughout the communities of the Bronx,” police Commissioner Bill Bratton said in a statement.

The gang members were charged with weapons possession, assault, conspiracy to commit murder and narcotics possession.

"Reckless, wanton shootings detailed in the indictment forced innocent bystanders to take cover and neighborhoods to conduct daily business in great fear for their safety and security," Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan said in a statement. "Targeting drug gangs involved in violence has significantly diminished shootings in these neighborhoods."

Brown demanded payments from members of his crew to help pay for protection and weapons.

“YU GOTTA AT LEAST PUT IN MONEY 4 dhat set severy chance yu get...cause dhis beef sh*t aint cheap. im supplyin dha hood soo wee can stay on dha map," he texted to one of the gang members.


During a court appearance on Monday in Manhattan Criminal Court, Brown had to be pepper sprayed after a confrontation with court officers.

All of the "280" crew are being held on bail in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Fast rising R&B singer August Alsina recently sat down with Rap-Up to talk about how the remix for "I Luve This Sh*t" featuring Trey Songz and Chris Brown came about. During the conversation August revealed that he and Trey don't see eye to eye.

"I don't really f*ck with Trey right now. We don't get along right now," August said. "We ain't on the same page. He did some other sh*t and we just don't rock. If you show me that you this person day one, you should always be that person. We were supposed to have a show together or some sh*t and it just went left. 'Cause I can't deal with n*ggas' egos and attitudes 'cause I'm just a real n*gga coming through and I'm rocking. Lupe Fiasco teams up with Black Hippy emcee Ab-Soul for a dope new song because as Lupe writes they "can really rap good." Take a listen to their collaboration entitled "Thorns & Horns." The track was produced by Floss & Flame.

Texas fans get ready because 50 Cent will be returning to the SXSW Music, Film and Interactive Festival in Austin to perform live. The concert will take place on March 11, 2014 in Austin at the 1100 Warehouse, starting at 8 PM. 50 previously performed at SXSW in 2012.

According to Billboard.biz, the G-Unit mogul will live stream his show via the social networking mobile app, Hang/w.

Since it's launch in March 2013, the Hang/w app has been downloaded more than one million times. It allows iPhone, iPad or Android device users to live broadcast to as few as a handful, or up to thousands of people at once. You can even stream live to your Facebook wall, allowing your friends to be a part of whatever activity you're participating in at any given time. 

50 Cent is a minority owner in Hang With Inc.

"I'm excited to be able to bring my fans behind the scenes and give the opportunity to those who couldn’t make it a chance to experience a concert at South By Southwest," 50 Cent said in a statement.
