T.I. Seventh studio album and prison release

T.I. Out of Prison and Back to Work

T.I., whose real name is Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., was released from Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex in Arkansas Dec. 22.2009 and has already headed back into the studio to work. Although T.I. isn’t completely free…he was released to a halfway house close to his home in Atlanta. He will spend the next 366 days of his sentence at Dismas Charities Atlanta West, where he is allowed to leave the facility during daytime hours to work.

Music exec Kevin Liles posted a message on his Twitter page stating that new T.I. music will soon be on the way. “My right hand (T.I.) went home to visit family& found his way to the studio. He said, ‘Why wait for 2010, get it in now.’ Love the attitude.”

That seems pretty lenient that he is also allowed to swing in to see family when he is under ‘house arrest’. He will have 500 hours of community service to complete when he is sprung in another year.

We can’t wait to hear the rappers new song, which will likely reflect his time spent behind bar.

On March 26, 2010, T.I. will be released from the halfway house. He is also currently in the studio working on his seventh studio album. It is yet to be titled.

The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive

French Montana is in no rush to put out his debut album. One of Akon's newest signees said he has enough money to continue serving up material through mixtapes, such as his latest, Mac Wit Da Cheese 2. His first album has to be classic, French said.

"My album is set for late summer," French said last week while shooting a video for his mixtape track "Bad Habits," with guest Bun B. "It's called Excuse My French. I'm just working. I wanna come with a masterpiece, man. I'm not no overnight rapper. I'm comfortable with where I'm at. My followers are my real followers. I ain't no phase. I'm here to stay. [The release] could be late summer, it could come out past then, as long as it's a masterpiece when we put it out. ... You gotta understand, that's what they gonna remember you for, your first album. Biggie's Ready to Die, UGK's first album — you wanna come with the same thing. The title gotta live up to the music."

Bun and French share a mutual respect for each other's grinds, Montana said.

"The video is called 'Bad Habits,' " Montana explained. "Everybody got a bad habit. I sent [the track] to Bun. Bun heard it, laid the verse in like five minutes. I sent it to him, he called me back in five minutes. I was like, 'Oh my God.' "

"I was in the lab, I was already in that zone," Bun added. "It was something that I felt made sense, that I felt represented his movement, repped my movement, and we spoke to people on a real level. That's one thing about UGK music. We can't be fabricating sh--. We kept it real with each other.

HipHopWired Reports Atlanta Hip-Hop duo Playaz Circle has fans buzzing with anticipation over their second installment into the rap hemisphere, Flight 360. The DTP tag team revealed exclusively to HipHopWired that they're keyed up about the timing of this album, saying that the “climate” is right and it's time for them to take off. “Everything is about timing,” said Dolla. “Like one of the DJs told me, if we would've come out about five or six years ago, we probably would've gone gold with a song as big as “Duffle Bag Boy.” I think it just goes to show that the climate of the game is changing but the great part about that is we're able to adapt.” They then continued on to speak about the success of their landmark hit, “Duffle Bag Boy,” which ironically turned out to be both a gift and a curse. According to Dolla Boy it helped them gain fame on the Billboard charts but confused fans that were unsure whether the song was Playaz Circle's or the property of Young Money CEO, Lil Wanye. “I think fans will be able to identify with us more this go around. The first go around there was confusion over “Duffle Bag Boy.” Is it Lil Wayne? Playaz Circle? Who's who? I think the time between Flight 360 and Supply in Demand has allowed the fans to identify the artist, get to know us a little bit better and become familiar with our music.” Despite their previous issues, Tity Boi and Dolla Boy are promising to release a conceptual album. Dolla added that they plan on incorporating photo shoots, video shoots and songs that tie together to form a story line. “We basically do conceptual albums, we try and tie it all in from the photo shoots to the videos, all the way down to the actual arrangements of the songs, to the skits. We think that's what Hip-Hop's been missing, the substance. We've recorded over 70 or 80 songs and we've picked the right 14 or 15 songs that compliment the title of the album and where we were going with our career.” Not only can fans expect a conceptual album, they can expect features ranging from the group's DTP family to the legendary Raekwon The Chef from Wu-Tang. “We fuck with people who fuck with us. Raekwon, the Twins formerly of Jagged Edge, Bobby V, of course Ludacris, of course Lil Wayne…shout out to Young Money.” Flight 360 drops September 29th, and just before takeoff Playaz Circle is leaving fans with one promise: “We ain't gonna stop, we're gonna continue making good music for everybody and all our listeners.” Check out their second single "Gettin' Rich" featuring Ludacris from Flight 360: The Take Off below

AllHipHop Reports In less than one month, fans of M.O.P. will receive the group’s first official Hip-Hop album in nearly ten years. In a recent interview, co-founder Billy Danze exclusively revealed the release date for the group’s forthcoming E1 Records debut. Originally scheduled for a June 2009 release, The Foundation is now set to hit stores on September 15. The album features production by Alchemist, DJ Premier, Statik Selektah and Jake One, as well as guest appearances by Heltah Skeltah, Jadakiss, Beanie Sigel, Styles P, Redman, and Busta Rhymes, who graced the project’s lead single “Blow the Horns.” “If you understand what’s going on, if you understand real dope music,” Danze told AllHipHop.com. “If you want some dope s**t to help get you out this dope music recession – ‘cause we getting all this wack s**t now, pick up that album September 15.” Since parting ways with G-Unit Records in 2008, both Billy Danze and longtime rhyme partner Lil’ Fame have kept busy. Aside for steady performances as a duo, including this summer’s Rock The Bells Tour, which concluded in San Francisco on August 9, they’ve each gone on to establish themselves individually. Though he plans on releasing a solo project, Fame has been honing his skills as a producer, amassing a resume that includes Wu-Tang Chamber Music, released in June. Danze, who has released several solo tracks online, is much closer to the release of his own solo project, he says. “It’s been working, I been getting a lot of good feedback,” he explains. “I got Alchemist on the production, Lil Fame, my man Tommy T. DJ Premier’s gonna slide me some s**t in a minute. It ain’t all the way done yet, I’m about halfway done, working on all the features." While the combined five years on the rosters of Roc-A-Fella Records and G-Unit did not yield an official M.O.P. studio release, the fans received new music and remixes through several compilation projects, including 2004’s Mash Out Posse, a collaborative effort with rock band Shiner Massive. Despite a certain amount of frustration, both Billy Danze and Lil’ Fame maintain they hold no ill feelings towards 50 Cent, Jay-Z or Dame Dash. “50 was a fan like every other label that we signed to after the first deal we had with Select [Records],” Danze stated in a recent AllHipHop.com interview. “Every other situation after that, was because the people [signing the deal] was fans. As far as 50 goes, they never tried to change us. Dame Dash, same thing.”

Times Online Reports The world’s big four record companies are to go head-to-head with Apple with the launch of a new form of album download that will include a digitised version of a record sleeve. Sony, Warner, Universal and EMI are putting the finishing touches to an album format that will give music fans a computerised version of the sleeve notes that come as standard with a CD, including lyrics and artwork, and videos. The format, due to be available in November, is aimed at boosting the sales of album downloads, which online buyers have failed to warm to despite a huge surge away from CD sales towards their digital counterparts. Although more than nine out of ten of all singles sales are made in digital form, for albums that figure is reversed. It is understood that the record labels approached Apple, maker of the iPod, about 18 months ago with the plan to revitalise album downloads by bundling together extra features in a single download. Industry insiders say that their project, with the working title CMX, was rebuffed by Apple. The technology giant is now understood to be working on its own format, codenamed Cocktail, which it hopes to launch within two months. One senior record label insider said: “Apple at first told us that they were not interested, but now they have decided to do their own, in case ours catches on. “Ours will be a file that you click on, it opens and it would have a totally brand-new look, with a launch page and all the different options. When you click on it you’re not just going to get the ten tracks, you’re going to get the artwork, the video and mobile products.” The new technology will initially be “soft-launched” to accompany only a few releases, possibly including the next album by U2. “We are not going out in force,” the label source said. “What you are going to see is a couple of releases thrown out there to see what people like. We are working with the retailers now.” Despite the success of singles downloads, the industry has found it harder to persuade consumers to buy digital albums. The 2009 Entertainment Retailers Association handbook shows that only 10.3 million of the 139.8 million albums sold last year were downloads. A spokesman for the association said: “It is the great conundrum of the age: what would an album look like online? At the moment a download in no sense replicates that satisfying quality of a physical album. “Think about the importance of the gift market for albums. Online it’s stripped down to the bare music, and there’s a lot more to an album than that.” Another part of the problem is the small difference in price, with retailers offering heavy discounts on CD albums, the average price of which fell to £8.10 last year, compared with £7.41 for the digital equivalent. Gennaro Castaldo, of HMV, said: “The price of a CD has come down massively in recent years, and there are year-round promotional catalogue campaigns that represent incredible value, such as two CDs for a tenner. This means that tracks on physical albums can often work out quite a bit cheaper than their digital counterparts.” A spokesman for the BPI, which represents the British record industry, said: “Digital downloads have resurrected the single, and the competitive pricing and widespread availability of individual digital songs appeal to teenagers. While the CD remains the bedrock of music sales overall, a key challenge for the industry now is to upscale demand to the digital album.”

HipHopWired Reports Much of the landscape of Roc-A-Fella has changed dramatically since they were running the rap game early in 2000. The dramatic change is that it no longer exists as Jay-Z not only left Def Jam, but has also been building on Roc Nation with artists by the likes of Wale and J. Cole, but it has been rumored that he still has Young Chris on the ride with him. Beanie Sigel, who was one of the first to start running with Jigga, and was there when the label exploded with fame will be releasing The Broad Street Bully on September 1. As of late, the Philly rapper has been making his rounds on the mixtape circuit working with the likes of Gillie the Kid, Black DeNiro and even members of his State Property crew making it seem as though Sigel was cooking something up behind closed doors. Once deemed as Jay-Z protégé, Sigel seemed to be building his steam slowly but surely as his albums built up to the formation of State Property with the rapper leading the pack having his own gang to run beside his mentor. Things slowly changed however between The B. Coming and The Solution. 2007 saw the release of two of the premier artists drop their albums and it was apparent that the touch of Jay was absent. In the case of Freeway, the project was very well put together, but it was promoted very poorly which only made it collect dust in the CD shelves as most people were unaware of it. In the case of Sigel, Jay was featured on the track “Gutted,” but it wasn't the hard-hitting soulful material that fans have come to know the Philly native for. Hell, maybe it was because his first single was with R. Kelly on “All the Above” with subpar production from The Runners. Hopefully with his upcoming project that was originally titled The Focus, the fat will be trimmed and he will continue his climb that he was at with The B. Coming. Features are limited to Freeway and Young Chris and as Chris is seen as being little Jay, there might be a chance for Sigel to lead the charge to help resurge State Property at least. Time will only tell where business ties till go as far as him and Hov, but the world needs classic material such as “Still Got Love For You.”

Tracklist for Broad Street Bully: 1. Broad Street Bully 2. All In 3. Shot Em Up 4. Death Follows Me 5. Phili (w/ Freeway & Young Chris) 6. Ready For War (w/ Freeway & Young Chris) 7. Point The Finger (w/ Young Chris) 8. Get Back To Rap (w/ Young Neef) 9. I'm Sicker (w/ Freeway) 10. What Are We Doing Here 11. Going Through The Emotions 12. You Over Did It 13. Why Should'nt I

HipHopWired Reports Longevity and relevance are too hard things to come by when speaking about Hip-Hop. Artist that emerged in the early 90's are either holding onto a strand of hope or have disappeared in the darkness of obscurity. Memphis group Three Six Mafia has spent close to twenty years in the rap world and although they have gone through their trials and the group has drastically downsized, they are still intact. On November 10, the Grammy award-winning group will bless audiences with their latest project, "Laws of Power". The album will feature DJ Paul and Juicy J holding it down as they have for a while. The group recently went on their solo tips as both released their own project with Paul's Scale-A-Thon in May, and Juicy's Hustle Till I Die in June. “Lil Freak (Ugh Ugh Ugh)” will be a track that is featured on the upcoming project and will feature artist Webbie. Another notable cut will be “Shake My” which will feature Laenna and will be produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and Osinachi Nwaneri. The musical effort is set to be released through Hypnotize Minds/Columbia Records. Laws Of Power will also find the Tear The Club Of Thugs venturing into techno as they collaborate with Flo-Rida and Sean Kingston over the production of Tiesto.
