CHICAGO (AP) — Jury selection got underway Monday at R. Kelly’s federal trial in his hometown of Chicago, where the R&B singer faces charges that he rigged his 2008 state child pornography trial by threatening & paying off a girl with whom he allegedly filmed himself having sex when he was around 30 &  she was no older than 14.

Jurors acquitted Kelly on all charges in that 2008 trial, some explaining later that they felt they had no choice because the girl did not testify. The woman, now in her 30s & referred to in filings only as “Minor 1,” will be the government’s star witness in the federal trial.

Kelly, 55, was already sentenced by a New York federal judge to a 30-year prison term for a 2021 conviction on charges he used his fame to sexually abuse other young fans.

Before at least 2 dozen potential jurors were brought in, the judge said he hoped to select 12 jurors and 6 alternates Monday & Tuesday from a pool of 125. Once a jury is chosen, the panel will hear opening statements from prosecutors 7 the defense before the first witness is called.

Kelly, faces multiple charges at the federal trial. They include 4 counts of enticement of minors for sex — one each for 4 other accusers. They, too, are slated to testify.

Before potential jurors were brought in, his attorney Jennifer Bonjean asked the judge to exclude anyone who watched the documentary “Surviving R. Kelly” that revisited old allegations against Kelly and spotlighted new ones.

The judge denied that motion but said the jurors would be questioned about the program.

Convictions in Chicago could add decades to Kelly’s New York sentence, which he is appealing. With the New York sentence alone, Kelly will be around 80 before qualifying for early release.

Video After The Jump

Chloe Goins is not the 25th woman who alleges she was sexually assaulted by Bill Cosby. Chloe says the incident happened in 2008 at the Playboy Mansion when she was 18.

Cosby reportedly gave Goins a glass of vodka which she drank. Afterwards she began to feel dizzy and unsteady on her feet. Cosby took her to a room and the next thing she remembers is waking up naked with the comedian licking her toes while masturbating.

Goins details the assault during an interview with the Daily Mail.

"I was butt naked lying on my back on a bed and didn't have any idea where I was," she said. "I was in a bedroom and presumed it was in the mansion because I could hear music, I don't think it was Hef's room, it was just a nice room. I came to and remember seeing this big man crouched over me. It was Bill Cosby and he was at my feet, kind of licking and kissing them and I think he bit my toe as that's what woke me up. I kind of thank God for that because that's what woke me up and I came to. I was shocked, I said, 'hey, what's going on', he didn't really say anything, didn't explain anything or give a reason. He jumped up, pulled his pants back up quickly and left. He had seen that I was alert and bolted out of there, I was left in the room by myself."

Goins says she found her dress, but her panties were missing. She grabbed the friend she came to the party with and left. She told her friend about the incident, but didn't go to the police.

Unlike all of the prior accusations that can't be prosecuted because the statute of limitations have passed, Cosby could face criminal charges for Goins alleged 2008 assault if she chooses to press charges. She has not done so as of yet.

Cosby's wife Camille and his daughter Evin are speaking out in his support. Camille released a statement on Monday, December 15.

Evin lashed out at the accusers via her Facebook page.

"Rape is a serious allegation and it is suppose to be taken VERY seriously but so is Falsely accusing someone," Evin wrote. "When someone rapes a person they go to prison," she wrote Monday. "THAT should also happen to the person that has wrongfully accused an innocent victim. They are not ONLY destroying innocent people's life they are ALSO making it hard for the MEN and Women to find justice when they have been raped."

DUBLIN – A Dublin judge has ordered Prince to pay $2.95 million to Ireland's major concert promoters for canceling a 2008 concert at the last minute.

High Court Justice Peter Kelly made public the damages total Friday because the singer has yet to pay the amount to Dublin promoters MCD Productions in a confidential settlement reached last month.

Kelly last month ruled that Prince had committed to perform in Dublin's 82,300-seat Croke Park in June 2008, but withdrew without explanation 10 days beforehand after 55,000 tickets were sold.

The 51-year-old Prince did not testify at the hearing.

Kelly confirmed Friday that the order was specifically against Prince, not his agents from the William Morris agency, who were absolved of liability.

AllHipHop Reports Police are investigating rapper Fabolous and his connection to a luxury car stolen from an upscale hotel in Atlanta. According to Channel 2 Action News, Atlanta police claim men in Fabolous’ entourage stole a rare 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. The vehicle, which was one of only two brought into the United States, was taken on January 31 and has not been seen since. Surveillance video shows two men in Fabolous’ entourage approach a bellman at the Intercontinental, received the keys to the Lamborghini and left as if it was their property. Fabolous and the rest of the group allegedly followed behind the Lamborghini in a minivan. Police investigating the theft have confirmed that Fabolous knows the men, but an attempt to subpoena the rapper to make him talk was refused by Fulton County DA Paul Howard, who offered immunity to anyone who helped find the vehicle. Meanwhile the vehicle’s owner, Eric Vargosko, is suing the Intercontinental over the loss of the Lamborghini. "The InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta has accepted responsibility for this unfortunate incident from its inception and has always been willing to provide fair and reasonable compensation for the damages caused to the vehicle by the incident," said Caroline Counihan in a statement to Channel 2. "We hold the safety, comfort and well-being of our guests and employees as our top priority and concern. We have taken several measures, including heightening security, so that a repeat of this incident does not happen."
