Today, Nipsey Hussle's memorial service is being held at The Staples Center in Los Angeles. Early on during the service, Karen Civil, took the stage to read a tribute to the late rapper from Barack Obama. Please check that out below.

Dear Friends and Family of Nipsey:

I’d never met Nipsey Hussle, but I’d heard some of his music through my daughters, and after his passing, I had the chance to learn more about his transformation and his community work.

While most folks look at the Crenshaw neighborhood where he grew up and see only gangs, bullets and despair, Nipsey saw potential. He saw hope. He saw a community that, even though its flaws, taught him to always keep going. His voice to invest int hat community rather than ignore it — to build a skills-training center and a coworking space in Crenshaw; to lift up the Eritrean-American community; to set an example for young people to follow — is a legacy worthy of celebration. I hope his memory inspires more work in Crenshaw and communities like it.

Michelle and I send our sympathies to Lauren, Emani, Kross and the entire Asghedom family and to all those who loved Nipsey.

Nipsey Hussle's family will be honoring the late rapper by hosting a "Celebration of Life" memorial service at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday.

The two-hour celebration is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time, and doors to the arena will open at 8 a.m. There will be metal detectors screenings and bag checks to ensure public safety.

Report via ABC 15 -- PRESCOTT, AZ — Authorities have arrested a Prescott mother and her daughter for a murder that happened nearly two years ago.

Police received a report on Tuesday morning by someone who said he hadn't seen 77-year-old Sandra Aven in a long time. Police found the woman's granddaughter, 24-year-old Briar Aven, who told officers her grandmother was out of town and unavailable.

Police say Briar Aven lives with her mother, 46-year-old Tara Aven, next door to where Sandra Aven lives. Investigators say both Briar and Tara provided inconsistent information that prompted them to enter Sandra's home to check on her.

Inside, police found the body of someone who was deceased. Interviews with Briar and Tara Aven led to them confessing to killing Sandra Aven in late 2017, according to a news release.

Police say the mother and daughter continued to cash "numerous monthly payment checks" written for Sandra.

Both Briar and Tara Aven were arrested and taken to the Yavapai County Jail. They face charges of first-degree murder, fraud and tampering with evidence.

Report via 10News WTSP -- GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A crowded Gainesville Waffle House turned into a murder scene early Sunday morning.

A 41-year-old man was allegedly handing out $20 bills and paying for meals at the restaurant when he was shot to death. Deputies say it began with an argument over generosity.

The Alachua County Sheriff's Office said 41-year-old Craig Brewer was inside the Gainesville restaurant around 3 a.m. when an argument broke out between him and Ezekiel Hicks, 25. 

According to an arrest affidavit, witnesses saw Brewer paying for customers' meals and "passing out" $20 bills. One customer, a friend of Hicks, began arguing with Brewer because he didn't pay for her meal, the affidavit says.

Then, Hicks got involved and began arguing with Brewer as well.

Deputies say Hicks left the restaurant, grabbed a handgun and went back inside the Waffle House. A bystander tried to intervene, but deputies say Hicks and Brewer then got into a physical fight.

Hicks then shot Brewer in the head, deputies say. The sheriff's office said the entire incident was also captured on restaurant surveillance video.

Hicks is now facing a first-degree, premeditated murder charge.
