News4Jax is learning more about Aiden Fucci, the teen accused of murdering 13-year-old schoolmate Tristyn Bailey in her St. Johns County neighborhood over the weekend.
Aiden Fucci, 14, was arrested early Monday on suspicion of second-degree murder & booked into the St. Johns County jail. Fucci was transferred to the Volusia County Regional Detention Center, where a judge on Tuesday ordered him to be held in Department of Juvenile Justice custody for 21 days.
St. Johns County Sheriff Robert Hardwick said Fucci, a schoolmate of Bailey’s at Patriot Oaks Academy, is the lone suspect in her murder. No information about a possible motive in the case has been released.
Bailey’s body was found Sunday evening near a retention pond in a cul-de-sac in the Durbin Crossing subdivision, less than a half-mile from Fucci’s home. The discovery was made by a neighbor out for a walk around 6 p.m., roughly eight hours after Bailey’s family called 911 to report her missing.
The medical examiner’s office determined Bailey, who had what investigators described as a “significant injury to hear head & other trauma,” was stabbed to death. Her death was ruled a homicide.
According to Fucci’s arrest report, the 14-year-old gave an initial statement to detectives but his story changed several times. Despite those inconsistencies, a deputy noted in the report that Fucci “ultimately made several admissions.”
Based on Fucci’s statements & the discovery of Bailey’s body, investigators got a warrant to search his home, where they recovered “several items of evidentiary value,” the Sheriff’s Office said. Those items included articles of clothing, some of which tested positive for blood.
The report also shed light on surveillance video detectives reviewed as part of the investigation. Among the clips was footage from Durbin Crossing’s North Amenity Center, which showed two people matching Fucci’s & Bailey’s descriptions walking about 1:14 a.m. Sunday.
Detectives also recovered surveillance video from a home along Saddlestone Drive, which showed the pair walking east on Saddlestone about 1:45 a.m. A little less than two hours later, the camera captured only one individual walking west & carrying a pair of shoes.
It’s not yet clear if Fucci will be charged as an adult in the case. A spokesperson for the 7th Circuit State Attorney’s Office said the agency will be working with the Sheriff’s Office to determine which charges are appropriate & whether Fucci will be treated as an adult.
Saying investigators are continuing to work the early stages of what is still an active investigation, Sheriff Hardwick said the Sheriff’s Office would limit the details it released in an effort to preserve the integrity of the case.

MOSCOW (AP) — A gunman launched an attack on a school in the Russian city of Kazan that left at least nine people dead Tuesday — including seven youngsters & sent students running out of the building as smoke poured from one of the windows.
At least 21 others were hospitalized, six in extremely grave condition, authorities said.
The attacker, identified only as a 19-year-old, was arrested, officials said. They gave no immediate details on a motive.
But Russian media said the gunman was a former student at the school who called himself “a god” on his account on the messaging app Telegram & promised to “kill a large amount of biomass” on the morning of the shooting.
Attacks on schools are rare in Russia, & President Vladimir Putin reacted by ordering the head of the country’s National Guard to revise regulations on the types of weapons allowed for civilian use.
Four boys & three girls, all eighth-graders, died, as well as a teacher & another school employee, said Rustam Minnikhanov, governor of the Tatarstan republic, where Kazan is the capital.
Footage released by Russian media showed students dressed in black and white running out of the building. Another video depicted shattered windows, a stream of smoke coming out of one, and the sound of gunfire. Dozens of ambulances lined up at the entrance.
Russian media said while some students were able to escape, others were trapped inside during the ordeal.
“The terrorist has been arrested, 19 years old. A firearm is registered in his name. Other accomplices haven’t been established. An investigation is underway,” Minnikhanov said.
Authorities said the 21 hospitalized included 18 children.

As the world has been transfixed by the opioid crisis in North America, another crisis, just as serious, has been unfolding almost unreported across Africa.
The addictive prescription painkiller Tramadol has exploded in popularity, used by everyone from workers trying to cope with long hours and grueling labor, to university students looking to have a good time. It’s even the drug of choice for members of Islamist terrorist group Boko Haram, fueling their violence.
Now, governments are threatening to crack down, using the same War on Drugs methods of repression that have failed everywhere else. And meanwhile, as counterfeit pills flood the continent, new research is questioning whether people are even taking real Tramadol at all.
In The War On Drugs, we examine the social implications of prohibition worldwide. Any attempt to shut down the trade in drugs such as heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, ketamine or weed invariably sets off a chain of events that just makes things worse, leaving a trail of death, illness, violence, slavery, addiction, crime and inequality across the globe. Everyone loses – except, in a weird kind of way, the drugs themselves.
Logan Paul says he & his brother are taking no chances after Floyd Mayweather's "I'll kill you" threat ... telling TMZ Sports they now have security watching them "at all times."
Floyd dropped the menacing warning to Jake Paul after the younger Paul bro famously stole the boxer's hat during a confrontation at the Logan-Mayweather pre-fight news conference in Miami last week.
Most considered it an empty threat -- after all, nobody really thinks Floyd's going to commit murder over a baseball cap -- but Logan tells us he's taking absolutely no chances.
As for why -- the 26-year-old YouTube star explained it this way ...
"Dawg, when you have a guy with the resources & the wealth that Floyd Mayweather has & the connection & the network and he's saying s***, 'I'mma kill that motherf***er' -- kill?! Death?! You're gonna kill my brother over a f***ing hat?! Yo, we take that s*** seriously man!"
Logan says the Paul bros now have bodyguards with or around them "everywhere at all times."
Logan, though, says he & his brother will NOT be going to cops or filing anything in the court system over the threat -- the older Paul brother said that idea is straight-up "bitch s***, bro."
There's more ... Logan also says there's a chance he makes $20 MILLION for fighting Floyd -- and he also explained why a fight card that would feature both him & Jake vs. Mayweather would never happen.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The brother of a Chicago Bears player was found dead at a North Carolina electrical substation on Sunday, authorities said.
The News & Observer reports that Tyrell Antar Cohen, brother of running back Tarik Cohen, is believed to have died by electrocution while trying to climb power equipment, according to Wake County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Eric Curry.
Curry said Tyrell Cohen fled the scene of a car accident in Raleigh early Saturday morning. Police tried to locate the 25-year-old but couldn’t, so they called off the search.
Cohen’s family filed a missing-person report with the police department Saturday night, according to Curry, and officers started looking for him again Sunday morning.
The sheriff’s office responded to a call shortly after 9 a.m. from a Duke Energy substation in its jurisdiction where an employee had discovered Cohen’s body, Curry said.
“He entered the substation, which may have been resulting from the accident,” Curry said, according to the newspaper.
Authorities do not suspect foul play, according to news releases from Wake County deputies and Raleigh police.
Tarik Cohen grew up in Franklin County and graduated from North Carolina A&T State University. He has run for 1,585 yards and nine touchdowns in 51 games in four seasons with Chicago.
“We are heartbroken to learn of the death of Tarik Cohen’s twin brother, Tyrell,” the Bears said in a statement Sunday night. “Our immediate thoughts and prayers go out to Tarik, his mother, Tilwanda, and the rest of their family and loved ones. On behalf of the entire Bears family, we extend our most heartfelt sympathies to all who mourn his loss.”
'Tiger King' star Jeff Lowe says he received a creepy, anonymous letter from someone indicating they know where Carole Baskin's missing ex-husband is ... though it's similar to a theory she's already shot down.
Jeff tells TMZ ... the letter was sent to his Tiger King Park in Oklahoma in May 2020, but the envelope only had the zoo's address on it, no name or return address. He says all they know is it was postmarked in Providence, Rhode Island.
As you can see in video of Jeff and his wife, Lauren, opening the letter back then ... it contains a single piece of paper with a handwritten note -- "The corpse lies under Her House." It's signed by "The Faithful Witness."
We're told Jeff and Lauren were speaking with a federal agent about the letter, and she claims she also informed law enforcement in Hillsborough County, FL ... where Don Lewis went missing in 1997.
Jeff and the agent on the phone speculate about what exactly the letter is alleging, but the gist seems clear ... the person who sent it believes Don's body is buried somewhere on Carole's Big Cat Rescue property in Tampa.
Here's where things get a bit weird -- even though Lauren says Hillsborough County authorities requested the letter in May 2020 ... Jeff refused, saying 'Tiger King 2' producers advised him to hold onto it.
Jeff says filming's wrapped now, so they are finally sending the letter to the Hillsborough County authorities, where he claims cops are planning to test it for DNA and fingerprints. We reached out to the Hillsborough Co. Sheriff's Office, they say they won't talk about evidence.
As we previously told you ... there's a Facebook group that also believes Lewis is buried on Baskin's property -- specifically under a septic tank system -- but she posted a video in August 2020 attempting to debunk that.
Regarding the letter, Carole's current husband, Howard, tells us ... "This is just another stupid stunt by Lowe to deflect from his own legal troubles." He adds ... "Only a moron would think that an anonymous letter has any value."
