The X Factor final wasn’t the only thing happening in London last night. Sir. Elton John and his partner David Furnish were busy putting on a star studded bash in the capital…all in the name of charity. The Grey Goose Character and Cocktails party held at the Grosvenor House hotel in association with the Elton John AIDS foundation saw the likes of The Saturdays, Daniel Merriweather and Elizabeth Hurley in attendance. Former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland performed a 45-minute live set at the party; proving she can be just as much of a diva as Mr. John himself by reportedly demanding for a bucket of KFC before singing at the bash. Described as a winter ball, the likes of Lily Allen and Sugababes’ star Amelle Berrabah donned their best frocks to help raise money for Elton’s charity through ticket sales and an extra-special auction. Allen, along with Lily Cole and Roland Mouret all designed portable bars, with an added hint of their own personalities which were auctioned off, as well as shoe-designer Patrick Cox’s one of a kind diamond watch. Aside from glitzy party, Elton reminded his A-List audience about the work his charity does saying: "Every ten years we see the number of cases of HIV rise as a new generation needs to be educated about the risks of unsafe sex.” He added: “Young people are playing Russian roulette with their lives. My message is always be safe." Previously, Elton and David sold the contents of their designer wardrobe at the Out The Closest 2009 charity sale with all proceeds going to Elton’s AIDS fund.

Video After The Jump Tiger Woods took his biggest blow yet as global giant Accenture Sunday dumped the cheating golf great. Saying Tiger was "no longer the right representative," Accenture backed out of an endorsement deal worth an estimated $7 million a year. The consulting and accounting firm, which once used Woods in a ubiquitous ad campaign that urged customers to "Go on, be a Tiger," scrubbed his image off its Web site Friday after he admitted to a string of extramarital affairs. "After careful consideration and analysis, the company has determined that he is no longer the right representative for its advertising," Accenture said, adding that "it wishes only the best for Tiger Woods and his family." Accenture is now the first giant corporate sponsor known to have cut all ties with the disgraced golf great, and its move could mark the beginning of the end of Woods' career as a pitchman. AT&T and Gillette have also stopped running ads featuring theonce-beloved sports icon, and analysts say they may also dump him soon. Woods' Accenture deal, first signed in 2003, is reportedly worth $7 million a year. The Gillette deal is worth $20 million, and other sponsorship deals could cost Tiger tens of millions more. With Woods off the golf course and still creating damaging headlines, experts say it makes little sense for sponsors to stick with him. "If he's not golfing, those ads don't make sense,"said Rick Burton, a professor of sports management at Syracuse University.

Nike and video game maker Electronic Arts are standing by Woods - for now. Woods' agent did his best to play down the Accenture move. "Accenture has made a decision to not continue with their sponsorship. We are disappointed but respect their decision," said Mark Steinberg of IMG Worldwide. The PGA Tour said it would have no comment on the decision. The crushing financial blow came as Woods, 33, endured another humiliating bimbo eruption. One of the women he squired during a serial cheating spree says they were in bed together when he got the call that his beloved dad had succumbed to cancer, she says. "I was beside him wearing nothing but a pair of panties," Jamie Jungers, 26, told The News of the World in London. Jungers, who has admitted her 18 months with Tiger Woods ended sourly, revealed that she was on one of her many hookups with Woods at his $3 million Newport Beach, Calif., mansion on May 2, 2006. Earl Woods, 76, ill with prostate cancer, was on his deathbed in a nearby hospice.

Tiger And His Father "We were hangin' out and [Tiger] got a phone call from his mother. His father wasn't doing very well," she said. Tiger went to the hospice for several hours, but when he returned, he was raring to go. "I could see he was preoccupied and worried about his dad - but when we went to bed he still wanted to have sex as usual," Jungers recalled. "We went to sleep. I was beside him wearing nothing but a pair of panties. Then at about 3a.m. the phone rang. It was Tiger's mom. "She called to tell him that his dad had passed away. Tiger looked utterly devastated and didn't say a word. "He didn't even cry but I could tell he was heartbroken." Jungers first met Woods at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas in 2005 - mere months after Tiger's wedding to Elin Nordegren. "He was kinda like a little kid," she said of the time they spent together. Things ended badly, she said. Jungers recently insisted "she got nothing out of this relationship but a broken heart."

Tiger Woods Wife, Elin Nordegren No Longer Wearing Wedding Ring In other Tiger tales: • Florida child welfare investigators visited the Woods family mansion over the weekend, it was reported Sunday. The agency went to the Windermere, Fla., mansion accompanied by a squad car from the Orange County sheriff's office and stayed for "roughly an hour" Saturday, radaronline reported. The "well-being check" was triggered by a complaint to the Department of Children and Families, TMZ.com reported. • Playgirl announced it won't be running any nude snaps of the golfing great. A woman was asking for $500,000 for up to 10 cell phone camera pics of Tiger, said Daniel Nardicio, director of marketing for the online adult magazine. Video After The Jump If Drake is not a household name for everyone just yet, the 23-year-old is on the front porch, ringing the bell. That he's done it without even putting out an official album shows just how far he's come in 12 months. What a journey it's been for the Toronto native in 2009. I first met Drake last year in Los Angeles around Grammy time. Lil Wayne's co-manager Cortez Bryant introduced me to Drake as a new "singer" that they were working with. Drizzy was cool but barely spoke: At the time, there was no way I'd envision him as having a shot at making the MTV News' "Hottest MCs in the Game" list, let alone finishing in the top three. He was a "singer," right? Everyone — including Drake — is probably surprised at how much he's achieved this year. On the basis of its quality and impact, Mixtape Daily can say that So Far Gone isn't just the top mixtape of 2009, but one of the greatest of all time. As a body of work, the project is better than most albums from the past few years.
First off, as promised, homes is singing, and it isn't anything corny — in fact, one young lady I know was brought to tears after hearing "Brand New." And his rapping skills were a stunning surprise: His clarity, tone, articulation, confidence and — always paramount — lyrics are first-class. The impact of So Far Gone built gradually but rapidly, via blogs and word of mouth. As "Best I Ever Had" and "Successful" began picking up radio airplay, Drake began getting offers from just about every major label. Yet he elected to stay with Lil Wayne's team and inked with their Young Money label, with distribution by the Universal powerhouse, which quickly released an altered version of the mixtape as an EP — and which has led to Drake receiving two Grammy nominations for "Best I Ever Had," a song that was originally released on a mixtape! From the Net to the streets to the Grammy red carpet: Hands down, this is our mixtape of the year. Joints We Checked For » "Lust for Life." The title alone makes this track (not included on the re-release) a must-listen. Drake gives his declaration of being hip-hop's newest That Dude. "The game got these old handprints on it/ But I'mma be the one to pour cement on it/ And start over." His delivery was subtle but effective, like bullets from a silencer. »"Houstatlantavegas." Drake described the song to us thusly: "A lot of people think it's about strippers but it's not. It's actually kind of about women who live life with the mentality of a stripper, I guess you could say. Or it's these girls that sort of drift from place to place and city to city depending on where the event is or where the next show is, where the next awards are. They have guys fly them out, meet guys there and they kind of ... I have come across so many women like that either started out like that or I met them and they became like that. And it was just important for me early on, in that disc, to capture that emotion because it actually led to the demise of a relationship that I was in. So yeah, it was just kind of just a way of speaking to a specific type of girl. When I talk about women I don't like to talk in generic terms, I like to really speak to women — not to say anything they're doing is wrong but I like to be very specific when I talk to women, so they feel something." » "Successful" (featuring Trey Songz and Lil Wayne). Drake: "I remember hearing the record and the drums coming together, and they were just so rocking and it has this pocket and there was no melody yet, and [when the chords came in] it was so eerie. I was like, 'Yo that's it!' Every note fell into place. So I had this beat sitting here that I love so much and I didn't know what to do with it. Sometimes as an artist you find a musical piece that you love so much that you want to do it justice. It's a very overwhelming feeling at times. So I actually turned to Trey Songz and I was like, 'Yo, I got this joint and I know how it makes me feel. I just don't know how to say it the right way.' So I sent him the record and he sent me back this hook and was like, I want to call the song 'Successful.' " » "November 18." Drake says of this track, which also is not included on the re-release: "My connection with the South is one of the best connections in the world: My father is from Memphis, Tennessee, so at a young age I got a feel for what the South was really about [because] I got to go down there every summer. It really shaped the person that I am to be able to go from a city like Toronto to Memphis. It's like two different worlds: Toronto being this big city, more cultured, it's very different than Memphis. So to go to Memphis I used to love the feeling that I would get hanging out with my cousins and hearing the music from the South and seeing how they support Southern artists. Actually, of the first artists that I really got that feeling from was Yo Gotti. In Memphis at the time Yo Gotti was fresh, he was new, he was just popping. I used to go to his shows and I would sneak in. It was just a thrilling feeling to be a part of it. And then I just started listening to music that the South had to offer and it influenced a lot of my sound." » "Ignant Sh--" (featuring Lil Wayne). The song that got the most play in our office, its Just Blaze beat (taken from Jay-Z's song of the same title) has a classic feel. Drizzy was so arrogant on the record, not too many people could have come after him on the beat, but Wayne was a downright rap hooligan on it. It has so many quotable lyrics in such a short time span, let's just highlight: "Better cover your eyes, your face falling/ Watch the game from the side, I'm playing calling/ No, I didn't say that I'm flawless/ But I damn sure don't tarnish." If you need any more convincing, be sure to track down both the mixtape and the re-release. And stay tuned for Drake's official debut LP, Thank Me Later, due in March. Eminem Is # 9 On MTV's Man Of The Year List

Video After The Jump Which stars had the biggest 2009? Over the next week, we'll be unveiling our top nine most newsworthy, controversial and fascinating men and women of the year. We based our list on factors like music sales, box-office performance, MTVNews.com headlines and traffic, overall reach (crossover singles, appearances in movies, licensing of songs for commercials, clothing lines, etc.), plus X-factors like "impact" and "buzz." (And no, President Barack Obama didn't make the list — we'll leave that to the folks at Time.) This is by no means an exact science, but we think the list we've put together represents the men and women who helped make 2009 the most exciting and memorable 12 months in recent history. We'll be rolling out our list of the Top 9 Men and Women of 2009 two per day until Friday, when we unveil MTV News' Man and Woman of the year! As always, we also want to know what you think, so weigh in with comments below, or upload them to Your.MTV.com! 9. Eminem The (formerly) Blond Bomber returned in 2009 with Relapse, his first album in nearly five years, but if he was rusty, it certainly didn't show. Em sold a million-plus, put the entire industry on blast, feuded with his fellow MCs and reestablished himself as one of the biggest names in the game. It was just like old times. Along the way, he also managed to stir up a whole kettle of controversy, get mauled by a fictional German TV personality and make a cameo in a Judd Apatow flick. All of which made 2009 a very big year for Mr. Mathers.
2009 Highlights: Well, for starters, there was Relapse, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard albums chart in May, with sales of more than 608,000 copies, the year's biggest bow (until Susan Boyle dethroned him in December). But in the months leading up to the album, Em hyped it with big-name collaborations ("Crack a Bottle," which featured his old running mates 50 Cent and Dr. Dre) and videos that saw him revisiting his trash-talking ways (the now-infamous "We Made You" video, which slammed the likes of Jessica Simpson, Sarah Palin and a whole lot of other folks). That, of course, of course, was followed by a public spat with Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon. (He paid for his transgressions by being symbolically run over by a bus in Carey's "Obsessed" video.) He then met the wrong end of Brüno at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, in an incident he would later refer to as a "gag." There were the controversies, too. "We Made You" got Bill O'Reilly all hot and bothered, and as the year drew to a close, Em was getting heat for perceived anti-gay lyrics in a new song, "Elevator," which took aim at the likes of Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken. But 2009 will be remembered as the year Eminem returned to prominence. Relapse was a smash, and songs like the gory "3 A.M." and the somber "Beautiful" earned him critical acclaim. His verse on Drake's "Forever" arguably outshined the likes of Kanye West and Lil Wayne. He was nominated for four MTV Video Music Awards, second only to Lady Gaga and Beyoncé, and won Best Hip-Hop Video. And as '09 drew to a close, he was touting a re-issue of Relapse. He capped things off by being named the best-selling artist of the decade by Nielsen SoundScan, having sold more than 32 million albums in the '00s. He also joined Jay-Z for a surprise performance at the party announcing their "DJ Hero" game. ... Was lightheartedly accused of cheating at Pac-Man by Fif. ... Channeled Rain Man in the "We Made You" video. ... Inducted heroes Run-DMC into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. ... Promised to reunite D12 for a new album. ... And made a cameo in Judd Apatow's "Funny People." Source Follow Me @Twitter.com/ChasinMoPaper

Poinsettias and politics mixed and mingled at Sunday's Christmas in Washington holiday concert as President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama watched a glittery lineup of artists treat guests to festive performances at the National Building Museum. Rob Thomas, Mary J. Blige, Sugarland, Neil Diamond, Usher and Justin Bieber were on hand to sing holiday tunes new and old to a crowd of about 500 at the museum, which was festooned with all the things that make a Washington Christmas: sparkling trees, bright red poinsettias, twinkly lights and Secret Service agents "Welcome to Christmas in Washington, where Santa is a registered independent," host George Lopez joked at the start of the show. During the show's rehearsal Saturday, Diamond paused and pointed to a person seated in the audience. "You are sitting where the president of the United States is going to be sitting tomorrow, so I am going to go like this," Diamond said before doing a little dance. Diamond opened the show with a rousing performance of Joy to the World, Winter Wonderland and his original song Cherry, Cherry Christmas. Blige, clad in a fitted shiny sheath dress, sang a soulful rendition of The Christmas Song. Introducing a special performance by YouTube sensation Justin Bieber, Lopez pointed out, "Like you, Mr. President, this young man has many fans trying to shake his hand without permission." The 15-year-old sang Stevie Wonder's Someday at Christmas, a song sure to have delighted the Obamas, who are fans of Wonder. "I'm Mr. Christmas," Thomas joked before the show. Thomas, who performed at the ceremonial lighting of New York's Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, came to Washington to sing his original song A New York Christmas, which he wrote after 9/11 and benefits his charitable foundation, Sidewalk Angels. Even though a holiday album was never an option for his band, Matchbox Twenty— "Our bass player was Jewish and never wanted to do a Christmas record" — "now that I've started to do more solo stuff, then maybe I could. And at 37 it sounds like more fun than it did at 27. At 37 you don't care about being cool." Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, who recently released a holiday album of their own, sang the title song, Gold and Green. "We wanted to try our hand at least at writing Christmas classics in the style of Bing Crosby, where it's orchestrated," Nettles says. Adds Bush: "Melodies you'll never forget. If you think about it, they're like nursery rhymes for grown-ups." Nettles, who was in the nation's capital a week ago to sing at the Kennedy Center Honors, joked that between that and her performance at Obama's inauguration, she has it down when it comes to singing for the president: "I'm pretty sure at this point I can just come over and knock on his door with a casserole." At the end of the program, Obama thanked the performers "for sharing wonderful holiday spirit this evening." As he named each of the artists, Obama mispronounced Bieber's name. Correcting his error, Obama explained his mistake by noting "he was just discovered," and the crowd laughed. The program concluded with the Obamas joining all of the artists in singing Hark the Herald Angels Sing. The show will air at 8 p.m. ET/PT Dec. 20 on TNT. Christmas in Washington benefits the National Children's Medical Center.

If you haven't seen the Youtube clip yet, rapper Kid Cudi punched a fan in the front row of his concert in Vancouver over the weekend. The fan, who goes by the name of Michael Sharpe, sent in a few photos of himself to TMZ, after the punch, adding that he's just fine and doesn't plan to press charges. According to Sharpe's explanation to TMZ, this is why it happened: Someone behind him threw a wallet onto the stage. He says Cudi tossed it back to the crowd and Michael caught it -- but since it wasn't his, he tossed it back. Sharpe says that's when Cudi came towards him and, he says, Cudi started to punch him. Sharpe says his friends held him back and security quickly pulled Cudi away. Sharpe told us, "I'm not upset, I'm not going to be that person. I just want to meet him and be like 'I'm the guy you punched.' I'm not going to press charges." The kid suffered a minor laceration under the right eye, but seems to be fine. Buju Banton, the Jamaican reggae star whose anti-gay lyrics have drawn international criticism, is in a federal lockup in Miami, facing drug conspiracy charges. Drug Enforcement Administration agents say Banton, real name Mark Anthony Myrie, has been in custody since Thursday and will soon be transferred to Tampa, where the U.S. Attorney is charging him with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilos of cocaine. Banton has homes both in Jamaica and Tamarac. While legions of dancehall reggae enthusiasts view Banton as one of the most prolific voices of Jamaica's poor masses, critics say he's a gay basher whose lyrics incite violence by calling for attacking and torturing homosexuals. His song Boom Bye Bye, a dancehall hit released in the 1990s, advocates shooting gays in the head and setting them on fire. As late as September, Banton's local management told The Miami Herald that the criticism of the star was unwarranted because he had stopped singing the song years ago. The song remains a hit among reggae DJs. Still, such lyrics have made Banton one of the more controversial reggae artists, with angry gay activists this fall forcing the cancellation of a string of concerts by the artists during a U.S. tour that included a Halloween night concert in Miami. Recently the firestorm ratched up after the Grammys announced that Banton's album Rasta Got Soul, released earlier this year, was up for an award. Gay Men of African Descent and the National Black Justice Coalition joined with the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation in a petition drive protesting the nomination.
