"I had and still maintain a great relationship with Slim and Baby [CEOs of Cash Money]. They believed in me and my talent and our partnership obviously garnered a lot of pop success. It got to the point where I was chasing pop success and 'the smash' when really my heart wasn't in it anymore. That's not why I got into this game."
Next up for Jay is a mixtape entitled Mistress II, which will be released in November. On it he is going back to his original R&B roots.

(Reuters) - Authorities were seeking a motive on Saturday as to why a high school student in the United States' Washington state shot dead a female classmate and wounded four others in a campus cafeteria before killing himself.
The shooter, a homecoming prince at Marysville-Pilchuck High School north of Seattle, took his own life as his classmates fled to safety.
The incident was the latest in a series of deadly shooting rampages at U.S. schools that have played a central role in a national debate over gun laws.
A school district official, who declined to be named, identified the shooter as Jaylen Fryberg, a freshman described by classmates and parents as a popular member of both the wrestling and football teams.
"He came up from behind and had a gun in his hand and he fired about eight bullets...They were his friends so it wasn't just random," student Jordan Luton told CNN.
"Then he turned and looked at me and my girlfriend...and kind of gave us a smirk and turned around and then shot more bullets outside," Luton said.
All of the victims of the shooting were under 18, and three were in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the head, said Joanne Roberts, chief of medicine at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. The fourth wounded victim suffered less serious injuries.
Two of the wounded were boys and two were girls, hospital officials said. The boys, 15-year-old Andrew Fryberg, shot in the head, and 14-year-old Nate Hatch, shot in the jaw, were both in intensive care at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Friday night, a spokeswoman said.
Local media reported the boys were cousins of the shooter.
Police would not confirm the gunman's identity or discuss possible motives for the shooting, citing the ongoing investigation.
But a school official and several witnesses said he had been involved in a fight with another student. And a friend of one of the victims said he had been recently rejected by a female classmate.
SEARCH FOR A MOTIVE
At Marysville's The Grove Church, hundreds of parents, students and community members packed the aisles during a vigil on Friday evening, holding flowers and crying throughout a prayer service.
Outside the vigil, 9th grader Bella Panjeli said she attended a different school but was friends with one of the female victims, calling her "a beautiful girl and so, so sweet."
She also said Fryberg was in an ongoing dispute with his cousin over the victim's affections.
"I heard he asked her out and she rebuffed him and was with his cousin," Panjeli said, adding that she learned of the connection after talking to the victim's family and friends. "It was a fight over a girl."
Two parents of students at the school said an altercation broke out on an athletic field following football practice in recent days, adding that one boy involved was among those shot.
Students who knew Fryberg described him as outgoing and unlike the loner personality that is often associated with school shootings.
There were no indications on his social media accounts that he had been planning such a rampage, but on Tuesday he posted his feelings of despondency, apparently over a romantic split, on Twitter.
"It breaks me...It actually does...I know it seems like I'm sweating it off... But I'm not.. And I never will be able to," he wrote.
Police would not say what kind of weapon Fryberg had used, but an Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives official told reporters the gun had been legally acquired. U.S. media reported the weapon was a .40-caliber Beretta handgun.
In 2012, a 20-year-old gunman entered Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, and killed 20 children and six adults before taking his own life in one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history.

Rayhaneh Jabbari on a trial in Tehran, Iran, December 15, 2008
Video After The Jump
TEHRAN, Iran (Associated Press) — Iran hanged a woman on Saturday who was convicted of murdering a man she said was trying to rape her, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Amnesty International and other human rights groups had called on Iran's judiciary to halt the execution. But IRNA said Reyhaneh Jabbari was hanged at dawn for premeditated murder. It quoted the court ruling as rejecting the claim of attempted rape and saying all evidence proved that Jabbari had plotted to kill Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former intelligence agent.
According to the court ruling Jabbari, 27, stabbed Sarbandi in the back in 2007 after purchasing a knife two days earlier.
"The knife had been inflicted on the back of the deceased, indicating the murder was not self-defense," the agency quoted the court ruling as saying.
IRNA said the police investigation found that Jabbari sent a text message to a friend saying she would kill Sarbandi three days before the deadly incident.
Jabbari was found guilty of premeditated murder in 2009 but the sentence was only carried out after Iran's Supreme Court upheld the verdict. The victim's family could have saved Jabbari's life by accepting blood money but they refused to do so.
Iranian media reports say the family insisted on their legal rights under the Islamic principle of "an eye for an eye" partly because Jabbari accused Sarbandi of being a rapist in what became a highly publicized media campaign.
In a statement ahead of the hanging Amnesty said the investigation had been "deeply flawed" and that Jabbari's claims "do not appear to have ever been properly investigated." The group is opposed to the death penalty and has long condemned Iran's use of capital punishment.
Kendra Wilkinson's life has been turned upside down. The former Playboy Playmate's marriage to Hank Baskett is teetering on the brink of collapse because of allegations her husband cheated with a transsexual named Ava Sabrina London.
Ava Sabrina London
As we reported back in June, London came forward with claims of a sexual fling with Baskett when Wilkson was eight months pregnant with their second child.
“Hank absolutely knew that I was a transsexual and he told me that I was the only transsexual he’s ever been with,” London said at the time. “He thought I was beautiful.”
TMZ reports that Baskett has now gone to the FBI with claims that London tried to extort him for$5000not to release audio of a conversation in which the former NFL player begs London not to talk about their situation to the media.
"[The media] called my reps and asked if it was true and I just wanted to confirm with you that you haven't said anything," Baskett says on the tape. "I promise you, I will take care of you over time. I will make sure I reimburse. Just please if they come to you...please don't say anything."
Besides the fact that London allegedly wanted hush money, Baskett believes the audio is illegal because he was unaware he was being recorded.
In Baskett version of events he met London and a friend while grocery shopping. They invited him back to their crib to chill. At some point London decided to strip and his penis was exposed, which was enough to make Baskett bail.
Hanks lawyers are going to court next week in an attempt to get London's iPhone records. They believe the extortion plot will be revealed at that time.
Wilkinson and Baskett were married on June 27, 2009, atHugh Hefner'sPlayboy Mansion. How long they can hold it together is a question nobody knows the answer to at this point.

Looks like the Tyrese/Spanky Hayes beef will be simmering a while longer. As we previously reported, the feud started during an interview Spanky was giving where he claimed Tyrese performed oral sex on a casting director to get the lead role in the movie Baby Boy.
Tyrese responded by denying the claims and promised Spanky would never work in Hollywood. The theme of Black Ty's video was, "You know you done fucked up right?" The singer/actor strolls around the outside of his crib in a fur coat while smoking a cigar.
Being the comedian that he is, Spanky has released a hilarious spoof of theFast & the Furiousstar's video.
"You gon' say, 'You know I done fucked up.' You know you done fucked up," Spanky says. "You done fucked with a comedian with nothing to lose. I don't like none of your music. You committed career suicide. Every day I'ma talk about you. You know what you sound like bruh? [You sound like] When Kobe got caught cheating he said, 'Shaq do it too.' Monkey mouth nigga."
Spanky goes on to insult Ty's mother, his skin color and questions his sexuality.
"Nigga, you don't know who I know," Spanky continues. "Chris Brown is my homeboy. Don't let me call Chris Brown. He gon' come over here and beat the shit out of you. Remember what he did to Frank Ocean. When you shit a whole car come out your gay ass."
MARYSVILLE, Wash. - A student opened fire Friday morning at Marysville Pilchuck High School, killing one student and critically injuring at least four others before fatally shooting himself, police and witnesses said.
Squadrons of police cars swarmed to the school at about 10:45 a.m. after receiving reports of an active shooter opening fire.
The shooter, a student at the school, fired several shots at other students in the school cafeteria. Five students were hit by the gunfire, and one of them was killed. The four others were severely injured. The shooter then turned the gun on himself.
"We are confident there is only one shooter and the shooter is deceased," said Marysville Police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux in a noon briefing.
A spokeswoman at Providence Hospital in Everett said four young victims were transported there after the shootings. Three of them are in very critical condition with head wounds and are undergoing surgery. The fourth student is in critical but stable condition, and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
One student, Alex, said she was in the cafeteria when the shooting started.
"I was eating and I hear four gunshots," she said. "So I look behind me and I saw a gun pointing at this one kid who I knew. ... As soon as everyone saw the gun or heard the gunshots, they ran toward the wall. Some kids ran out the exit that I ran out of."
Alex said she estimated about 50 to 60 students were in the cafeteria at the time. "I ran first for the wall, and then I thought, 'I'm not staying in here.' So I ran out and called my mom."
Police said they do not know the shooter's motive.
At least 20 police cars and multiple ambulances responded to the shootings.
Students were evacuated from the school and taken by bus to a church at 51st Avenue and Grove Street.
"We do ask parents to stay away (from the school), it's an active situation," Lamoureux said. "We need to make it safe and secure. Please don't go to the campus, that makes it difficult for our officers."
Ayn Dietrich, an FBI spokesperson in Seattle, said the agency had personnel on their way to the scene to help authorities with the investigation.
The latest school shooting in the region happened at Seattle Pacific University, where a gunman killed one student and wounded two others on June 5.
The rumors of Troy Ave signing to T.I.'s Grand Hustle imprint began when Tip joined the Brooklyn, New York rapper onstage at Summer Jam 2014.
Troy later appeared on Hustle Gang'sG.D.O.D. 2 mixtape and dropped a verse on Tip's "Try Me" remix earlier this week.
Rap-Up caught up with T.I. to separate fact from fiction. He said there is no paperwork, but he considers Troy to be part of the family.
“Never mind the paperwork, I can’t really speak for the deals or the solidification of a professional relationship," Tip said. "But personally he’s definitely Hustle Gang. That’s something that I feel comfortable saying. He’s a solid cat. He has something that New York has been missing for quite some time and he’s not afraid to be a New Yorker. I salute him for that early on.”
The Atlanta rapper also elaborates on his collaboration withChris Brownentitled"Private Show,"which appears on his new album,Paperwork: The Motion Picture.
“We wanted to make grown women cream themselves. I think that was the pure, definite intention behind the record,” said Tip. “I think that we were both kinda trying to one-up one another: ‘You’re not gonna make a girl cream before me. I’m gonna say something that you didn’t say and it’s gonna make her feel a way that you didn’t make her feel.’ We just kinda continued that volley back and forth and then we had a little ball of inappropriate innuendos at the end of it called ‘Private Show.’”
