New York Governor Andrew Cuomo presented his “2015 Opportunity Agenda” at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany on Thursday, January 22. He proposed many issues including a minimum wage increase, more jobs in poor neighborhoods, education system reform and restoring the public's faith in the judicial system.
In the wake of the deaths of Sean Bell and Eric Garner at the hands of police, New York citizens faith in police and grand jury's that will indict them for wrongdoing has been shaken.
Jay Z met with Cuomo in December to discuss the issue. The business mogul was pleased with what he heard on Thursday. Read his statement below.
“The criminal justice reform package proposed by Governor Cuomo today is a huge step forward in restoring fairness, protection, sensitivity and accountability for all under our justice system. I commend Governor Cuomo for his bold leadership in taking this issue head on at this critical time. This package presents comprehensive steps to protect and improve relations amongst all citizens. We cannot be divided, as every single human being matters. Together, we can move forward as a community, with mutual respect for each other and continue to make this great state stronger than ever before.”
When the public views the police as the enemy and feels like the courts won't give them a fair shake it doesn't bode well for the country. Let's hope this will work in New York and other states will follow suit.

The Birdman vs Lil Wayne fued has been turned up a notch after Weezy dissed his boss on his new "CoCo" freestyle.
"Who kept this shit together? Nigga, me that's who/ Who was there when nigga's left? Nigga, me that's who/ Cash Money is an army, I'm a one man army/ And if them niggas coming for me, I'm going out like Tony," Wayne raps.
Basically, Wayne is telling the world that without him there would be no Cash Money Records, or at the very least they wouldn't be nearly as successful and he wants off the label.
This all started because Baby has not released Wayne's Tha Carter V album. At this point it doesn't even have a release date.
TMZ reports that Birdman is angry at Wayne for dissing him, trying to get out of his contract and "treating him like some random producer" instead of a boss. At this point there's no way he will voluntarily let his biggest selling artist voluntarily walk away.
Birdman doesn't plan on releasing Tha Carter V until he feels like it. He's prepared for a court battle.

Houston rapper Doughbeezy walked right into the middle of a home invasion robbery on Tuesday, January 20, and was almost killed.
When he went to visit a friend in The Heights, he noticed a man hiding by a trash can. A scuffle ensued as Doughbeezy fought with 2 gunmen.
Dwan Banks, owner of Rapture Recordz, told the Houston Chronicle that when she pulled into the driveway of her home there was a fight taking place. She recognized one of the men as Doughbeezy, real name Tai Carr, because he's her son's friend.
Dwan Banks
"Get back in the car, you're being robbed!" he warned her.
By that time it was too late. The thieves forced Banks and her kids into her home. Banks recognized one of the thieves. He was a relative of an ex-boyfriend.
Doughbeezy
Despite being pistol whipped Doughbeezy managed to get to the trunk of his car and retrieve a gun. He shot and killed one of the thieves. The other one fled on foot, but was later caught by police at a nearby Wendy's restaurant. He was identified as 23-year-old Marquez Romero Heckard.
The dead gunman's identity has not been released.
Doughbeezy posted, then deleted details of the incident on his Instagram page.
When the gunman got instructed to shoot me, he froze. When they tried to kidnap me in my own car, I was able to fight my way out the car before being pistol whipped. After being pistol whipped, my friend and her family pulled up and we all got instructed to go in the house and that’s when God made a way for to break loose and make it back to my trunk for my pistol. If I never was able to break away for my trunk, I wouldn’t be here today telling you this story.
Stop and take a second to thank God for very thing you have. And when you’re done, take a moment to tell your family and the people close to you that you love them. My daughter will be born in a week and if it wasn’t for God, I wouldn’t be here to see her to see her take her first breath. #Blessed
Paul Wall
Paul Wall, a friend of Doughbeezy's, told Fox 26 he was happy the situation didn't turn out worse.
"I definitely see Doughbeezy as a hero for standing up for his friends, his family and his own life. And for protecting himself," Wall said. "Thank God we have the gun laws we do. He was able to have a gun on him."
Doughbeezy and his representatives have said he won't be commenting further on the case.
A spokesperson for the Houston Police Department says the case will go before a Harris County grand jury as a result of the deadly shooting.

With the release of her debut album The New Classic and it's hit single, "Fancy," Iggy Azalea has become one of the most talked about rappers in the game. Not all of the chatter has been positive, but that doesn't seem to have affected her confidence.
Iggy recently spoke with Sarah Ball for GQ about her legacy and negative feedback from critics.
Fast-forward to the end of your career. What do you want your legacy to be?
You never know how long you'll be in people's good graces, especially in this business. So I hope it's long—but I could be here for three or four years and then be out, like most artists. So it depends. I might be here for a long time. At the very worst, if I have a short-lived career, at least I could say I sparked a change—that I inspired some leniency in what people accept in hip-hop. And if I have a very long career and can be gyrating in a leotard at 35, that would be great.
People say some harsh things about you. What helps you bear up under that?
Uh, awards season helps. Anytime where people get to choose who they want to have a voice and they choose me, I just think that makes it worth it. And that gives me the patience to just bite my tongue. When people choose me as the person they think should be speaking for them, I think,Well, I don't really care what someone in the industry or another artist has to say about it. Your opinion is biased anyway, because you want people to listen to your voice. So having actual people who choose me, it makes me think, I have a place, and I don't care what other people have to say about it. I was a fan of rap music growing up, and I didn't feel like there were enough characters that represented me and my situation. So I think it's needed.

When Dennis Graham decided to record a new song he reached out to his son, Drake, for a collaboration. The two worked together previously on Drizzy's 2013 song, "Jodeci Freestyle." Graham also appears in his son's 2013 "Worst Behavior" music video.
Unfortunately, the Young Money rapper's schedule wouldn't permit time to get into the studio this time around so pops put out an ad via his Instagram page looking for a replacement.
"I am in search of a classy female rapper to collaborate with me on my new single, not looking for ghetto style rapper serious inquiries only please DM me," Graham wrote.
Graham, a drummer, wound up recording a song entitled "Kinda Crazy" with new female rapper Ze Monroe.
My guess is we'll be hearing it soon.
