KATHMANDU, Jan 15 (Reuters) - At least 68 people were killed on Sunday when a domestic flight of Yeti Airlines crashed in Pokhara in Nepal, the worst air crash in three decades in the small Himalayan nation.

Hundreds of rescue workers scoured the hillside where the flight carrying 72 people from the capital Kathmandu went down. Officials late in the evening called off the search operations for the day, saying they will resume on Monday.

Local TV footage earlier showed rescue workers scrambling around broken sections of the aircraft.

Some of the ground near the crash site was scorched, with licks of flames visible.

The weather had been clear and there was no immediate indication of what caused the crash.

It was Nepal's deadliest air crash since 1992, the Aviation Safety Network database showed, when a Pakistan International Airlines Airbus A300 crashed into a hillside upon approach to Kathmandu, killing all 167 people on board.

HUMBLE, Texas (KPRC) – A Texas high school teacher is on administrative leave after a classroom scuffle with a sophomore was caught on cell phone video, Wednesday at Humble High School.

The teacher, who was not identified, is seen slamming a student into a table first, before slamming them into a wall multiple times.

In the video, the 16-year-old student never appears to retaliate as the teacher shoves & holds him to several seconds.

Quanell X, an activist, said he has seen the video.

“This teacher was out of control,” he said. “In fact, his behavior reminds you of teachers gone wild.”

Elvert Bolden is the father of the student.

“No child should be having his hands, having a teacher who is supposed to be teaching & protecting him, sling him all over the room like he is a rag doll,” he said.

Bolden said the teacher in the video came in from another classroom to help a substitute teacher.

“All the students at the end of the day … just talking & being loud at the end of the day,” he said. “The teacher didn’t want it going on so he came over there & approached my son & tell my son to be quiet.”

The Humble Independent School District said this should not have happened & is unacceptable & district police are investigating.

“I don’t want another student to feel the way my baby feels,” Bolden said. “May he be white, black, Hispanic, Asian. It does not matter to me.”

Quanell X said there is “no question and no doubt” that the teacher should be charged for their actions.

Bolden’s grandfather, Dr. James Bolden, drove 8 hours overnight from Arkansas. He said the teacher should be terminated & not just placed on leave as the district has done.

Bolden is also making it clear that the family is not going away & will pursue legal action.

The school district said the teacher is unlikely to return after the incident is investigated.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The family of a man who died from dehydration & malnutrition while being held in a west Arkansas jail filed a federal lawsuit Friday claiming jail staff ignored his medical & mental health needs.

Larry Eugene Price Jr. died at the Sebastian County jail in August 2021, after being held a little over a year at the facility awaiting trial on a terroristic threatening charge. Price, 51, who had a history of serious mental illness, had been held in solitary confinement at the county facility.

By the time emergency services arrived at the jail to attempt to resuscitate, Price, normally a solid man of 185 pounds, weighed just 90 pounds. Yet, even after his death, the jail monitors continued to give reports stating, "Inmate and Cell OK."

He was found with his eyes wide open, naked, starved, dried saliva on the corners of his mouth, in a pool of standing water so large his feet had shriveled. He had long since had his medication taken away. Toward the end, he had resorted to eating his own feces & drinking his own urine.

The lawsuit was filed against Sebastian County & Turn Key Health Clinics LLC, the jail’s medical provider, along with 2 employees of Turn Key. It also lists several unnamed employees of the county jail & Turn Key as defendants.

Price was arrested in August 2020 after he walked into the Fort Smith Police Department & threatened officers while pointing his finger as if her were pulling an imaginary trigger. Price, who also had a developmental disability, was homeless at the time of his arrest.

The lawsuit accuses the jail & its provider of violating Price’s constitutional rights & seeks compensatory & punitive damages.

A Pennsylvania man who appeared on TLC's "90 Day Fiancé" before he was considered 1 of the U.S. Marshal's Most Wanted fugitives was arrested Friday in Florida.

Michael A. Baltimore Jr., of Carlisle, Penn., was taken to Broward County jail after he was arrested following a fight at a bar in Davie, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Baltimore is accused of battering a bar employee, possessing a knife during the altercation & threatening to get his gun before he fled the scene.

Police later found Baltimore in a silver sedan, along with fentanyl, marijuana, ecstasy & a loaded gun in his possession. He initially gave police a fake name to officers before they verified his fingerprints to his true identity.

Baltimore was added to the U.S. Marshals' 15 Most Wanted list last summer in connection with the murder of a man at a barbershop on May 22, 2021.

Authorities said Baltimore opened fire at the GQ Barbershop in Carlisle & shot 3 people, killing the owner, Kendell Jerome Cook. He's expected to face first-degree murder charges.

Baltimore, who is also a barber, worked for Cook until 2019. He was also featured in the reality show "90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?"

Baltimore has an extensive criminal history & was known to be violent, according to the U.S. Marshals.

A $25,000 reward was offered for his capture.

Baltimore is now booked in Broward's main jail on several charges & awaits trial.

Boldy James was involved in a “serious two-car accident” in the Detroit metropolitan area this past Monday (January 9), according to his representative. The rapper was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and suffered broken vertebrae in his neck and orthopedic injuries. Following extensive surgery, James has been released from the intensive care unit and is now in stable condition.

In a statement, Boldy James and his family expressed their gratitude for “the incredible doctors and nurses that are taking care of him, and also to the communities’ emergency medical personnel and first responders.”

Last year, James teamed up with Real Bad Man for the collaborative album Killing Nothing. He also released the joint LPs Fair Exchange No Robbery with Nicholas Craven, Mr. Ten08 with Futurewave, and Be That as It May with Cuns. COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A 24-year-old man & a 23-year-old woman turned themselves into jail on Friday after being charged in the death of an 8-month-old boy.

Kyrios March Jr., 24, & Savanna Dawn Dawson, 23, came to the Perry County Jail on Friday morning, according to the Columbus Division of Police. The pair was wanted for murder after the death of the child on Monday.

The child’s cause of death was a homicide due to blunt force trauma, the Franklin County Coroner’s Office ruled on Wednesday. The child was suffering severe head injuries, court records said, and the coroner noted the child’s injuries were consistent with abuse and not accidental.

Columbus police responded to a home on Monday for a report of an infant not breathing. The boy was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead.

At the hospital, doctors told police the child had numerous broken bones, some of which had started healing & that the right leg had an acute fracture. Court documents state that during interviews with detectives, both Dawson and March said they were not sure how the boy received so many injuries, telling them that the other 3-year-old children in the home may have been the cause.

Police did not disclose the relationship between Dawson, March, or the infant, but said Dawson and March were considered at-large and that they may have left the Columbus area. CPD said the couple moved to Columbus 10 days ago and are from the Athens area. March reportedly also has ties to Michigan.

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Thursday that he was appointing Robert Hur as special counsel to lead the investigation & he provided new details on the documents.
