NEW BOSTON, Texas (AP) — A Texas jury sentenced a woman to death Wednesday for killing a pregnant woman she knew to take her unborn daughter.

Jurors returned with the sentence for Taylor Parker, 29, after deliberating for just over an hour. The same Bowie County jury convicted Parker on Oct. 3 of capital murder in the 2020 slaying of 21-year-old Reagan Simmons-Hancock, whose baby was cut from her womb & did not survive.

In a statement to the court, Simmons-Hancock’s mother addressed Parker as an “evil piece of flesh demon.”

“My baby was alive still fighting for her babies when you tore her open & ripped her baby from her stomach,” Jessica Brooks said.

Simmons-Hancock’s body was found Oct. 9, 2020, at her home in New Boston. Her 3-year-old daughter was at home when her mother was killed.

Later that morning, Parker claimed she’d just given birth after being pulled over by a state trooper for speeding & driving erratically. The baby, Braxlynn Sage Hancock, was taken to a hospital in Oklahoma, where she was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors have said that in an attempt to keep her boyfriend, Parker made herself look pregnant, faked ultrasounds & even had a gender-reveal party.

Homer Hancock, Simmons-Hancock’s husband, testified that Parker & his wife were “somewhat friends,” & that Parker had taken their engagement and wedding photos.

In closing statements, prosecutor Kelley Crisp showed jurors a crime scene photo of Simmons-Hancock soaked in blood on the floor. She told jurors that Parker needed to be sentenced to death because she’s a danger. She said that in addition to having her baby ripped from her womb, Simmons-Hancock was “slashed” hundreds of times & beaten.

NEW YORK (AP) — Snoop Dogg is getting a big-screen biopic.

Universal Pictures announced Wednesday that the studio is developing a film about Snoop Dogg’s life to be produced by the 51-year-old rapper. The film will be written by Joe Robert Cole, who co-wrote the two “Black Panther” films, and directed by Allen Hughes, the filmmaker of “Menace II Society.”

“I waited a long time to put this project together because I wanted to choose the right director, the perfect writer, and the greatest movie company I could partner with that could understand the legacy that I’m trying to portray on screen, and the memory I’m trying to leave behind,” Snoop said in a statement. “It was the perfect marriage. It was holy matrimony, not holy macaroni.”

Universal previously turned the story of rap group N.W.A. into the hit 2015 film “Straight Outta Compton” and also released the acclaimed Eminem biopic “8 Mile” in 2002. Cole said the studio “has proven they can guide a movie like this to something special.”

Donna Langley, chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, said she met with Snoop shortly after he acquired Death Row Records. His acquisition was announced just days before Snoop performed in the Super Bowl halftime show in February with Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar.

Snoop Dogg broke through in the early ’90s as part of the West Coast rap scene as a collaborator of Dr. Dre’s. He’s sold more than 35 million albums worldwide in his three-decade career. He’ll produce the film along with Sara Ramaker and Hughes.

Adidas AG said it plans to make up for most lost Yeezy earnings by selling sneakers of the same design stripped of the branding from rapper & former partner Ye.

The German sportswear maker is working through options for selling the sneakers in 2023 & expects to save about $302 million in royalty payments & marketing fees by going it alone.

Adidas shares rose as much as 4%, bouncing back from earlier losses suffered after it lowered a profitability target for the fourth time this year.

Adidas terminated its partnership with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, in late October following years of controversial behavior from the rapper & designer that culminated in a recent string of antisemitic statements.

In ending the arrangement, Adidas absorbed a hit to earnings of up to $250 million for the year. Yeezy has accounted for almost half of Adidas’s total profits.

“Let me be clear, we own all the IP, we own all the designs, we own all the versions and new colorways,” Chief Financial Officer Harm Ohlmeyer told reporters Wednesday. “It’s our product. We do not own the Yeezy name.”

Even if Adidas does manage to sell the Yeezy shoes under its own label, some analysts have expressed doubts that it will be able to replicate 1 thing: the price.

Quality Control’s Bankroll Freddie hopefully can find time to exercise “patience” like his recent hit with Lil Baby suggests -- the feds are charging the Arkansas rapper in a firearms and drug case.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Hip Hop the 28-year Freddie Gladney was part of a massive 61-count indictment ... along with 34 other defendants, and is currently in custody.

We're told Wednesday's round-up is part of a larger investigation involving around 70 people all facing similar charges and circumstances.

According to the indictment, Freddie and his East AR crew conspired to sell massive amounts of crack cocaine and marijuana between March 2021 to October 2022.

Freddie is also facing weapons charges for allegedly possessing multiple firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

We're told the feds also seized jewelry and cash from several of the defendants totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars.

MOSCOW (AP) — American basketball star Brittney Griner has been sent to a penal colony in Russia to serve her sentence for drug possession.

A Russian court rejected an appeal of her 9-year sentence last month. The 8-time all-star center with the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury & a 2-time Olympic gold medalist was convicted Aug. 4 after police said they found vape canisters containing cannabis oil in her luggage at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport.

Her arrest came at a time of heightened tensions between Moscow & Washington, just days before Russia sent troops into Ukraine & the politically charged case could lead to a high-stakes prisoner exchange between Washington & Moscow.

“Every minute that Brittney Griner must endure wrongful detention in Russia is a minute too long,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. “As we have said before, the U.S. Government made a significant offer to the Russians to resolve the current unacceptable & wrongful detentions of American citizens.”

Griner’s legal team said she left a detention center outside Moscow on Nov. 4 for a penal colony — as prisons in Russia are commonly known. The move was expected since she lost her appeal.

ATLANTA (AP) — Fans of the slain rapper Takeoff, a member of the hip-hop trio Migos who was shot and killed a week ago, will gather Friday to celebrate the 28-year-old’s life & musical contributions.

Born Kirsnick Khari Ball, Takeoff was killed Nov. 1 in a shooting outside a Houston bowling alley. A woman & another man were also wounded during the shooting. No arrests have been made.

A celebration will be held at noon Friday in Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, according to a news release from Quality Control Music and Motown Records. Free tickets will be available to Georgia residents through Ticketmaster.

“Takeoff was one of the most influential names in modern music whose creativity left a profound impact on music & culture as we know it today,” read the release. Instead of flowers or gifts, the family is asking that people make donations to The Rocket Foundation, which aims to support programs using community-based solutions to stop gun violence, according to its website. The foundation was established in honor of Takeoff.

The 28-year-old Takeoff formed one-third of the Grammy Award-nominated trio Migos along with his uncle Quavo and cousin Offset from suburban Atlanta. Migos broke out nearly a decade ago with the 2013 hit “Versace,” which hit even greater heights in popularity though a Drake remix.

Takeoff was the youngest of the Migos trio & often considered to be its most laidback member. Despite being more reserved, he did a lot of his talking through his rhymes. He had hoped to gain more respect for his lyrical ability through “Only Built for Infinity Links,” an album he released with Quavo just last month.

Aaron Carter was in & out of rehab therapy sessions up until his death & we're told his last scheduled appointment -- which he missed -- was supposed to happen Friday night.

Sources close to Melanie Martin, Aaron's fiancée, tell TMZ ... she was desperately trying to get him help during their off-and-on relationship -- although he mostly kept her in the dark about any recent addiction struggles.

Our sources say Melanie signed up Aaron for outpatient rehab after confronting him back in September. He got a welfare check around that time when fans got worried he was huffing compressed air off-camera.

We're told Aaron agreed to go through the program, with the idea that it would go a long way in helping him regain some custody of their son, Prince -- who's currently under the care of Melanie's mom.

Sources say he stopped the program briefly, but was reinstated last week -- Aaron was supposed to have an online session Friday evening, but was a no-show. When the facility reached out to tell Melanie, she broke the tragic news to them.

Keep in mind, it's possible -- if not likely -- Aaron missed that appointment because he'd already died.

Cops were called to Aaron's Lancaster, CA home Saturday morning for a report of a drowning. The housekeeper found his body in the bathtub & the last known contact with him was 2 AM Friday. Aaron's cause of death is currently deferred by the L.A. County Coroner's Office until toxicology results are returned.

There were multiple cans of compressed air in his bathroom & bedroom ... as well as prescription pills.

Drake & 21 Savage's new album, "Her Loss" is gonna be their loss in court if Vogue gets its way. The magazine's suing over fake covers the rappers used to hype their record.

According to legal docs, obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, Drake & 21 have been promoting "Her Loss" by posing on what certainly looks like a legit Vogue cover, leading fans to believe the company would drop the special edition soon.

Condé Nast, which owns Vogue, says that isn't the case ... despite Drake giving the brand & editor-in-chief Anna Wintour a shout-out online for getting a blessing.

Condé Nast claims Vogue & Anna "have not endorsed ["Her Loss"] in any way" & have asked multiple times for all promos using the Vogue name to be taken down, but nothing's been done.

The docs say the rappers falsely promoted the Vogue collab on social media & put up posters of the "cover" in major cities.

Condé Nast also claims Drake and 21's teams sent out an email blast about "celebrating Drake's Vogue cover" ... saying street teams across the country would even be handing out copies.

People on the streets allegedly got their hands on the false mags & many claim it's a direct replica of Vogue -- even including a fake pic of Anna posing with Drake.

Condé Nast wants a judge to shut down the use of the Vogue mark immediately & it wants at least $4M in damages.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa authorities say an 18-year-old sex trafficking victim who pleaded guilty to killing a man she said raped her escaped from a women’s center where she was serving her probation sentence.

Pieper Lewis was seen walking out of the building at the Fresh Start Women’s Center in Des Moines shortly after 6:15 a.m. Friday & at some point that day her GPS monitor was cut off.

A warrant was issued for Lewis’ arrest & the probation report asked for her deferred judgment to be revoked and have her original sentence imposed. She could face up to 20 years in prison.

Prosecutors had called the probation sentence she was given in September merciful for a teen who endured horrible abuse, although some questioned the $150,000 restitution she was ordered to pay. A GoFundMe campaign raised over $560,000 to cover the restitution and pay for her other needs.

Polk County Judge David Porter told Lewis that her probation sentence “was the second chance you asked for. You don’t get a third.”

If Lewis had successfully completed 5 years of closely supervised probation her prison sentence would have been expunged.

Lewis pleaded guilty last year to involuntary manslaughter & willful injury in the June 2020 killing of 37-year-old Zachary Brooks, a married father of 2. Lewis was 15 when she stabbed Brooks more than 30 times in a Des Moines apartment.

Lewis has said that she was trafficked against her will to Brooks for sex multiple times & stabbed him in a fit of rage. Police & prosecutors did not dispute that Lewis was sexually assaulted & trafficked.

Tame One, the all-around hip-hop great, rap legend, graffiti artist and hometown hero from Newark’s Artifacts & Boom Skwad, has died at 52.

Fans from New Jersey and all corners of hip-hop and the music world remembered the rapper as word of his death spread Sunday night.

Brown’s mother announced the death of her son, also known as Tamer Dizzle, in a Facebook post.

“I can‘t express this any other way,” Darlene Brown Harris said in the post. “My son, Rahem Brown, Tamer Dizzle, is dead.”

“The medical examiner says the 6 pharmaceutical drugs that Trinitas hospital prescribed to him last Friday, combined with the weed he smoked over this weekend...his heart simply gave out,” she said. “I will not be responding to all the posts for a bit, but the hardest words I will ever post or say is, my son, my heart, is dead.”

Tame One was half of the lyrical heft of the Artifacts alongside El Da Sensei.

As a solo artist, Tame One released 5 albums starting with “When Rappers Attack” (2003) as well as mixtapes & EPs. He also joined hip-hop supergroup the Weathermen with El-P (Run the Jewels), Aesop Rock, Camu Tao, appearing on 2003 mixtape “The Conspiracy.”

As one half of another duo, Leak Bros, Tame One released the 2004 album “Waterworld” with Cage.

Tame One was also cousin to veteran rapper Redman, who called him an important early influence.
