Brooklyn artist Tex of DMI is back with a powerful new release, “Food,” a track that blends gritty realism with sharp lyricism to reflect the hunger that fuels his journey. Known for turning struggle into sound, Tex continues to carve his lane with music that speaks directly to survival, ambition, and the grind.
On “Food,” Tex uses the concept of hunger as both a literal and symbolic theme—touching on the need to eat, the pressure to succeed, and the relentless pursuit of something greater. His delivery is unapologetic, pairing street-rooted storytelling with a focused, determined energy that reflects his Brooklyn upbringing.
The production complements his message with a hard, stripped-down feel that allows his voice and message to take center stage. Rather than overcomplicating the sound, Tex leans into authenticity—letting the emotion and urgency drive the record.
“Food” isn’t just a song—it’s a statement. It’s about knowing what you’re chasing, understanding what’s at stake, and refusing to come up short. For listeners, it’s a reminder that hunger—whether physical, mental, or emotional—is often the starting point of greatness.
Beanie Sigel reflects on touring alongside DMX and shares personal experiences from that era. Beyond the stage performances, the conversation delves into an unexpected interaction between the two artists regarding a specific rap lyric.
Rapper Pooh Shiesty is facing up to 30 years in prison amid serious federal charges stemming from an alleged robbery and kidnapping incident involving multiple suspects. The case, which involves nine individuals including Pooh Shiesty, Big 30, and Ice-T's father, centers around a 2022 incident in Dallas where the group allegedly traveled from Memphis with the intent to rob. Prosecutors claim Pooh Shiesty was armed and forced Gucci Mane to sign over a contract at gunpoint.
While Pooh Shiesty’s lawyer emphasizes there is no physical evidence linking his client to the crime, multiple witnesses—including Gucci Mane, security guards, and close associates—are reportedly cooperating with authorities, presenting a daunting challenge for the defense. Adding complexity, Pooh Shiesty’s father is said to have already cooperated with federal authorities in previous cases, leading insiders to speculate he may again provide testimony.
With mounting charges that could escalate, the young rapper faces a difficult legal battle ahead, as federal prosecutors look to secure convictions on kidnapping, robbery, and firearm possession.

April 19 (Reuters) - Eight children, with ages ranging from 1 to 14, were killed in a mass shooting on Sunday in Shreveport, Louisiana & the suspected gunman was later fatally shot by police during a vehicle chase, local authorities said.
The incident was the latest mass shooting in the United States. Shreveport Police Department spokesperson Christopher Bordelon said at a news conference that some of the children were related to the suspected gunman & that the shootings occurred in 3 residences.
Bordelon said at least 10 people total were shot, but did not provide details on the status of surviving victims.
The shooting occurred just after 6 a.m. on Sunday & is considered a domestic disturbance, Bordelon said.
The suspected gunman carjacked a vehicle after the shooting & died after police fired at the vehicle during a chase that went into neighboring Bossier Parish, Bordelon said.
Bordelon said the name of the suspected gunman would be released once the department has notified families of the victims.
"We do know that some of the children inside were his descendants," Bordelon said.
"This is a tragic situation, maybe the worst tragic situation we've ever had," Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux said.
U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson, a Shreveport native, posted on social media that his team was in touch with local police about the "heartbreaking tragedy."
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry posted to social media that he & his wife "are heartbroken over this horrific situation, & we're praying for everyone affected."
Not including this weekend's incident in Shreveport, the Gun Violence Archive lists at least 119 mass shootings in the United States this year, resulting in 117 deaths, including 79 children & 458 people injured.
The archive defines a mass shooting as an incident in which at least four people, not including the shooter, are injured or killed by gunfire. The United States had 407 mass shootings last year, according to archive data.

TMZ - Ice Spice has more beef with 1 fan than the "Deli" she raps about ... throwing down with the woman in a Hollywood McDonald's & the wild confrontation is all on video.
Security footage from the fast food joint shot early Wednesday morning shows Spice sitting in a booth with a pal & chatting away.
A young woman jogs up to the table & starts talking to the pair ... seemingly trying to get Spice's friend to slide over so she can sit with the duo.
Spice & her friend aren't into it ... and the rapper seems to point to the door to send her on her way. The fan doesn't take kindly to this & hits Ice Spice.
Bedlam breaks out ... the fan's friend drags her off while Ice Spice jumps from table to table running after her.
Video from outside shows Ice Spice picking up a phone she found on the ground belonging to 1 of the people with the fan who accosted her -- which she allegedly smashed.
Ice Spice & the others argue -- curse words fly back & forth -- as Spice & her friend turn to go. In another clip, taken while they are crossing the street, the fan throws another punch at Ice Spice & a scuffle ensues.
Ice Spice's attorney Bradford Cohen tells TMZ ... "The unprovoked attack on my client has been reported to the LAPD & we will be pursuing any & all avenues to hold the perpetrators responsible for their actions, including criminally & civilly. We are also exploring holding the location responsible for their lack of appropriate security."
We spoke to Vayah -- the woman seen hitting Ice Spice in the video -- who laid out her version of events ... claiming Ice Spice was very rude to her when she tried to politely show her love for the star. She says Spice called her a "bitch" & she slapped the rapper for it.

The singer D4vd was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of teenage girl whose decomposed body was found in the trunk of his abandoned Tesla last year, authorities said Thursday.
The “Romantic Homicide” singer, 21, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was being held without bail.
The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on Monday. The prosecutor's office said that its major crimes division will review the case.
On Sept. 8, police found the remains of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez in the trunk of a Tesla impounded at Hollywood Tow. Officers were called to the lot because of a foul odor coming from the vehicle.
Inside a black cadaver bag in the vehicle's trunk, officers found a decomposed head & torso, according to court filings associated with a grand jury investigation. A second bag contained dismembered body parts.
The filings state that Burke was the target of the investigation.
It isn't clear how the teen died. The medical examiner’s office said last year that it couldn't release details about her cause & manner of death because of a security hold sought by police.
She was reported missing from Lake Elsinore, southeast of Los Angeles, last year. She was last seen on April 5, 2024, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said the girl was wearing black leggings, a tube top, a yellow metal chain bracelet & stud earrings when she was found. Law enforcement sources told NBC News that the remains were not intact. The medical examiner said it appeared she had been dead in the car for an extended period of time.
When news first broke of the remains being found, Burke was on his Withered World Tour. A spokesperson said at the time that he was aware of what happened & was “fully cooperating with the authorities.”
