Chris Brown is branching out. His F.A.M.E. album sees him expanding his repertoire, and he's already straddled the line between R&B and dance with "Beautiful People." Now, he's looking to push things even further. Though, to be honest, we're not exactly sure in what direction.
Brown recently logged studio time with the unlikely combination of M.I.A. and Polow da Don, a collaboration he broke on his Twitter account.
"Was in the studio with the incredible M.I.A. and Polow," he wrote. "Amazing artist[s]! Real talent!"
Polow further confirmed the collabo on his Twitter account, and, from the sound of things, the music they made was revelatory.
"In the lab wit the great Chris Brown and the incredible M.I.A.," Polow wrote (in ALL CAPS). "Thank you dear lord!"
Polow added, "I've waited on this moment my whole career ... I feel this song in my soul!" For her part, M.I.A. remained silent about the music, but did mention that she was "shootin' hoops" with Brown and the producer.
It's not known if the music they collaborated on is meant for a re-release of Brown's F.A.M.E., the follow-up to M.I.A.'s 2010 album MAYA or something else entirely. Emails to reps for both artists were not responded to by press time.
Brown is currently on tour in Australia, where, judging by his Twitter feed, he's taking time to see a whole lot of movies and playing basketball with the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League.
Pharrell Williams, Jermaine Dupri, No I.D., Drumma Boy, Boi-1da, Noah “40” Shebib are just some of the big name producers that will participating in ASCAP’s “I Create Music” Expo.
Set to take place on April 28-30 at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, the three-day event will feature a special session with Pharrell about how to pursue a smart and successful career in the music industry.
JD will also be interviewed for writer and composer-focused segment. In addition there will be a Deconstructing Drake panel featuring longtime Drizzy collaborators Boi-1da and Noah “40” Shebib, where both will discuss the creative process behind some of the Young Money star’s biggest hits. Producers No I.D., Drumma Boy, Needlz, The Legendary Traxster, and Symbolyc One (S1) will also participate in the Expo.
With her new single “Run the World (Girls)” quickly rising up the iTunes charts, Beyoncé is savoring her last few vacation days in Paris. The singer enjoyed a fun-filled day out with her nephew Julez and his father at Disneyland Paris today. She kept a low profile, putting on a Goofy hat, sleeveless graphic tee, and shades as she wandered around the theme park with her and Jay-Z’s bodyguards in tow, but Mr. Carter was nowhere in sight.
With the release of his brand new album 'Vigilante Season', and his appeals process moving along nicely, Max B has reason to see a possible bright future despite his present surroundings.
Max is currently serving a 75 year sentence for manslaughter, aggravated assault, robbery, kidnapping, possession of a weapon and conspiracy. The September 2009 sentencing temporarily stopped the big wave Max was riding, but we could see him back up on his surfboard as soon as this summer.
"The appeal process is done finally, been done for about a month now," Max told Mikey T The Movie Star in a brand new interview. "What they do is the prosecutor responds back and you get a letter, they tell you, you gotta wait 8-10 months for a response from the appellate court to get a decision, but they come back way before that," Max explained. "So you might see me [out by] summer [or] by the end of the year."
That would be a great look for Max, if he's out by the end of the year.
A lot of people use a relatives, friends or even work addresses to send their kinds to schools in districts they are not zoned to. Most didn't know they could get arrested for it, face a long stretch in the pen and owe $15,000if caught.
The 15K is what it supposedly costs to school a child for a year.
That's what Tanya McDowell of Norwalk,Connecticut is dealing with today. To make matters worse she is homeless. Sometimes crashing at homeless shelters, her car or a friends couch. McDowell thought at least she had her son in a good school.
"I had no idea whatsoever that if you enroll your child in another school district, it becomes a crime," McDowell, 33 told the Stamford Advocate.
McDowell was charged last week with first-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny for allegedly stealing $15,686 from Norwalk schools. She was released after posting a $25,000 bond.
The babysitter whose address was used to get McDowell's son into the new school was evicted from her Public Housing home.
"I know so many people who enroll in other school districts where the kids go home on the weekend to visit their parents so they can have a better education," McDowell says.
Norwalk Board of Education Vice Chairman, Glenn Iannaccone can't remember anyome ever being arrested for this.
"This is the first time I have heard something like this where there has been an arrest. Other allegations like this have been handled by the central office. I'm not sure if the police have been involved," Iannaccone told the CT Post. "Maybe this is the district's way of cracking down on this."
What do you guys think about this case? What would you do to get your kid into a better school and should this be a crime?
VH1 promises the world will get to see a "very different side of 50 Cent" next month when they air the special 'Origins of Me.'
The documentary follows 50 as he visit his roots by traveling to the place where his family settled in the 1950's, Edgefield County, South Carolina . According to The Boombox. Fif will confront the descendants of slave owners. He will also visit relatives and study his geneology.
According to the VH1, Edgefield was once one of the most violent counties in the South during that time.
The special will air on VH1 May, 23 at 9pm eastern.
Six people are in jail today in Marion County, Florida after being arrested for participating in the brutal murder of a 15-year old boy.
Charlie Ely, 18; Amber E. Wright, 15; Michael Bargo, 18; Justin Soto, 20; and Kyle Hooper, 16, face first-degree murder charges.
And James Haven, 37, faces charges of accessory to the crime for helping dispose of the body and helping one of the suspects flee the area.
Seath Jackson
Authorities say Seath Jackson was lured to a house by Wright after being texted repeatedly. Once inside the home Jackson was attacked by Bargo, who masterminded the plot and Soto.
Jackson was beaten with a wooden stick, shot several times with a .22 caliber pistol, then put in a bathtub so his knees could be easily broken while his body was dismembered.
When the suspects realized Jackson wasn't dead he was shot again, then placed in a pit and burned. His ashes were placed into several paint containers and thrown into a large garbage can.
Authorities found out about the details of the killing after Hooper confessed to his mother he had seen the attack.
"It feels amazing. It’s great to be part of the family. It feels like home already. George made a very wise decision because I am ready for them to take me to another level!"
It's rare to see two established Hollywood types argue in public. That's why it's so odd to see what's going on between filmmakers Tyler Perry and Spike Lee.
The two have been going at it ever since Lee labeled Perry's Madea movies as "coonery" a year ago
Perry ripped into Lee during a press stop in Beverly Hills, California.
"I'm so sick of hearing about damn Spike Lee," Perry said. "Spike can go straight to hell! You can print that. I am sick of him talking about me, I am sick of him saying, ‘this is a coon, this is a buffoon.' I am sick of him talking about black people going to see movies. This is what he said: ‘you vote by what you see,' as if black people don't know what they want to see."
"I am sick of him - he talked about Whoopi, he talked about Oprah, he talked about me, he talked about Clint Eastwood. Spike needs to shut the hell up!"
Perry sees a bigger problem with the criticism from Lee, he feels it's indicative of how African Americans treat each other in general.
"I've never seen Jewish people attack Seinfeld and say "this is a stereotype," I've never seen Italian people attack The Sopranos, I've never seen Jewish people complaining about Mrs. Doubtfire or Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie," Perry said. "And I'm sick of it from us; we don't have to worry about anybody else trying to destroy us and take shots because we do it to ourselves."

Yesterday (April 19) was National Hiring Day for McDonald's. The goal was to hire 50,000 people in a day.
Sounds like a great thing right? It would have been if not for a couple of hood heathens fighting Cleveland, Ohio. The end result was one of the participants of the fight, got in her car and backed over several people.
"I was filling out my application when I saw two girls fighting," Joseph Shores told Fox 8. "I don't know their names, but they were fighting over drama, hood stuff."
Police say the fight started between two girls over a boy, but then spilled over into the crowd of people waiting to hand in job applications.
"One girl was on top of the driver, beating her. Then the driver went forward, somehow it kicked into reverse, and the car went backwards, hitting three people. It was crazy!" said Arnecia Patterson.
The four people that were hit by the car were taken to the hospital. None with life threatening injuries. Police caught the passenger in the car and charged her with felonious assault. They are still searching for the driver.
SMFH... Micky D's giving away jobs and people can't leave that hood ish at the crib for a couple of hours.
Last week there was a rumor floating around that DJ Pauly D of the reality tv show Jersey Shore had signed with 50 Cent'sG-Unit Records.
Yesterday (April 19) on Shade 45, DJ Whoo Kid said it's a done deal, with Pauly signing to 50's G-Note Records.
"I'm not a real dj, I guess you guys don't know that so maybe that's why they're signing a dj to the team," Whoo Kid said jokingly. "He has new records that he wants to showcase and since 50 is doing a lot with [rapper] Hot Rod, he wants to broaden the horizon."

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West's non-profit foundation has closed for unknown reasons, according to reports.
The rapper's Kanye West Foundation closed its doors after four years in existence, according to a former employee of the non-profit, which was at one time headed by the late rapper's mother, Dr. Donda West.
A former executive director for the company sent out an email to colleagues making the announcement.
The foundation's productivity appeared to flounder after the death of Dr. West, who died in 2007 from complications of plastic surgery.

Biggie lands on yet another posthumous cover, this time the 73rd annual icon edition of The Fader magazine. Alternate cover after the division. The cover story is available for reading purposes here.
Diddy may have some explaining to do if there turns out to be any merit to a lawsuit recently filed against him.
Jabari Tilgham claims he was beaten up while working as a photographer at a BET Hip Hop Awards afterparty hosted by Combs at Club Mansion in Atlanta, Georgia, according to a lawsuit filed in DeKalb County State Court on Friday (April 15).
Tilgham claims he was one of 12 photographers taking pictures of celebrities when he was singled out and attacked by Diddy's bodyguards.
Tilgham's attorney Jeffrey Gewirtz says the October 10, 2010 attack was completely unprovoked. One of the security guards working for the club that night backs up Tilgham's story in a signed affidavit.
The suit names Diddy, Club Mansion management and four bodyguards as defendants.
Dr Dre just won a huge lawsuit against the current owners of Death Row Records, WIDEawake Entertainment.
Yesterday (April 19), U.S. District Judge Christina Snyder ruled that Death Row doesn't have the rights to sell the classic album 'The Chronic' online.
Dr Dre will now receive 100% of all online sales, while Death Row can only sell the album in CD, cassette, 8-track and vinyl sales as stipulated by Dre's original contract with Suge Knight and the old Death Row.
"For years, Death Row Records forgot about Dre when they continued to distribute his music digitally and combined his hits with weaker Death Row tracks in an attempt to elevate the stature of their other artists," Dre's attorney Howard King told the Associated Press. "We are gratified that the federal court has unambiguously declared that Death Row has no right to engage in such tactics, and must hold all proceeds from these illicit distributions in trust for our client."
