Joan Rivers is currently in critical condition at Mount Sinai hospital in New York City. TMZ reports that the 81-year old comedienne was undergoing surgery on her vocal chords when she stopped breathing.
At 9:39 AM ET an emergency call was placed from an unknown clinic.
"We have somebody in either cardiac or respiratory arrest," the caller told 911.
Rivers, known for her sarcastic brand of comedy has been a television fixture since the 60's. In 2012 she starred in a Street King commercial alongside 50 Cent. She is currently the host of E!'s Fashion Police.
Her daughter Melissa Rivers and 13-year old grandson, Cooper, took a morning flight to be by her side, according to E!.

Everybody has seen the footage of Solange Knowles attacking her brother-in-law Jay Z in an elevator earlier this year. It looked authentic to most observers, but Solange and Beyonce's father, Mathew Knowles, seems to think it was all part of a "Jedi mind trick" to fool fans into buying more of his daughter's merchandise and help sell tickets for Jay and Bey's current On The Run tour.
"It's called the Jedi mind trick. The Jedi mind trick fools you a lot of times," Mathew told the Roula and Ryan Show on Houston radio station 104 KRBE. "Things you see are sometimes poof. All I know is the Jedi mind trick. Everybody is talking about [the elevator fight], ticket sales went up, Solange's album sales went up 200%."

NEW YORK (Associated Press) — Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were married Saturday in the French hamlet of Correns, a spokesman for the couple says.
Jolie and Pitt wed in a small chapel in a private ceremony attended by family and friends at Provence's Chateau Miraval. In advance of the nondenominational civil ceremony, Pitt and Jolie obtained a marriage license from a local California judge. The judge also conducted the ceremony in France.
The couple's children took part in the wedding. Jolie walked the aisle with her eldest sons Maddox and Pax. Zahara and Vivienne threw flower petals. Shiloh and Knox served as ring bearers, the spokesman says.
Jolie and Pitt's wedding caps years of rampant speculation on when the couple would officially tie the knot. Pitt once said that he didn't want to marry until gay marriage was legal, but in recent years, both said they intended to. They were engaged in early 2012 after some seven years together.
"It's an exciting prospect, even though for us, we've gone further than that," Pitt told The Associated Press in an interview in November 2012. "But to concretize it in that way, it actually means more to me than I thought it would. It means a lot to our kids."
They have six children together, including three they adopted: 13-year-old Maddox, from Cambodia; 10-year-old Pax, from Vietnam; and 9-year-old Zahara, from Ethiopia. The couple's three biological children are 8-year-old Shiloh, and Knox and Vivienne, 6-year-old twins.
This is the second marriage for Pitt, who wed Jennifer Aniston in 2000. They divorced in 2005.
Jolie was previously married to British actor Jonny Lee Miller for three years in the late '90s and to Billy Bob Thornton for three years before divorcing in 2003.
Both Jolie and Pitt are prepping movies. Jolie's second directorial effort, the World War II odyssey "Unbroken," will be released in December. Pitt stars in the upcoming World War II drama "Fury," due out Oct. 17.

Suge Knight was released from a Los Angeles hospital on Wednesday, August 27, three days after being shot six times at a pre-VMA party.
TMZ reports that the 49-year old former Death Row Records CEO, will have no long term effects from the shooting. He just needs to keep his wounds clean to avoid infection and won't have to go through rehab.
Suge was injured inside the 1Oak nightclub in West Hollywood at a Chris Brown-hosted party. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. John Corina debunked a rumor that Suge was shot because he had a bounty on his head for the 1997 murder of The Notorious B.I.G.
"We've heard nothing about that, no connection to that," Corina said, according to the New York Daily News.
The police are looking at suspects with Blood and Crip gang affiliations, as well as others. Hours of surveillance footage from the club is being studied as part of the investigation.
"He went straight home and is going to heal up in a few days and be stronger than ever," friend Keith Middlebrook told The News Wednesday. "I talked to him today. He's tough. When he was shot, he walked out of the building. He's a pretty tough cat."

Noiva do Cordeiro, Brazil is a small town with a unique twist that is getting it a lot of attention. There are almost no men within the town's borders.
According to Yahoo, Noiva do Cordeiro's 600 residents are almost all single women between the ages of 20-25. Husbands are not welcome except on weekends and once sons turn 18, they are encouraged to leave.
"The only men we single girls meet are either married or related to us…. We all dream of falling in love and getting married. But we like living here and don't want to have to leave the town to find a husband." says 23-year old resident Nelma Fernandes.
The motivation for the way the town is set up is a direct result of its history: The town was founded in 1891 by Maria Senhorinha de Lima, who had been excommunicated as an adultress after leaving a man she had been forced to marry. Over time, she was joined by other single women and female-headed families, and the insular society came into being. In the 1940s, an evangelical pastor, Anisio Pereira, took one of the town's 16-year-old girls as his wife and founded a church there, imposing strict puritanical rules. When he died in 1995, the town's women determined that they would never again be subject to male domination, and they dismantled Pereira's church.
The town hopes to attract more men by inviting them to come visit. Interest is very high gauging by it's website, which has crashed due to all of the traffic.
However, if allowed to move to Noiva do Cordeiro, men must follow all rules set forth by the women of the town, including religion, farming, town planning and other guidelines.
Now that this story is out there are probably quite a few men outside of Brazil brushing up on their Portuguese.

Logic links up with Childish Gambino for "Driving Miss Daisy."
"I was actually on my headlining tour when I produced and wrote this record in one sitting," he tells Billboard. "I was deathly sick and dealing with a lot of problems, not personal so much as business and getting the album ready. I decided to put it on a song, and the fact [that] I produced it made it feel more honest to me. I gave the listener every aspect of my mind on this matter."
Going off the lyrics and single artwork, one can see that Logic was inspired by the comedy-drama film, "Driving Miss Daisy." "It's a play on the movie, where I feel like I'm Morgan Freeman driving and Ms. Daisy is my accomplishments," he says. "I'm driving on the road of success and I'm so focused on the destination that sometimes I forget to enjoy the view along the way and the "company" in the backseat."

DOLAN SPRINGS, Ariz. (Associated Press) — A 9-year-old girl accidentally killed an Arizona shooting instructor as he was showing her how to use an automatic Uzi, authorities said.
Charles Vacca, 39, of Lake Havasu City, died Monday shortly after being airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Mohave County sheriff's officials said Tuesday.

Vacca was standing next to the girl at the Last Stop outdoor shooting range in White Hills when she pulled the trigger and the recoil sent the gun over her head, investigators said.
A sign at the Last Stop in White Hills, AZ, directs visitors to shooting range. A shooting instructor was shot there on Aug. 25, 2014, according to the Mohave Co. Sheriff's Office.
Video released Tuesday by sheriff's officials shows the 9-year-old, wearing a gray T-shirt and pink shorts with her hair pulled back in a long braid, holding the firearm in both hands. Vacca, standing to her left, tells her to turn her left leg forward.
"All right, go ahead and give me one shot," he tells the girl, whose back is to the camera during the entire 27-second video. He then cheers when she fires one round at the target.
"All right full auto," Vacca says. The video, which does not show the actual incident, ends with a series of shots being heard.
Authorities said the girl was at the shooting range with her parents. Her name was not released.
A woman who answered the phone at the shooting range said it had no comment. She did not provide her name.
It is not known if the range had an age limit on shooting or if the girl was going through a safety class.
Ronald Scott, a Phoenix-based firearms safety expert, said most shooting ranges have an age limit and strict safety rules when teaching children to shoot. He said instructors usually have their hands on guns when children are firing high-powered weapons.
"You can't give a 9-year-old an Uzi and expect her to control it," Scott said.
