Four men are preparing to hit Katt Williams with a lawsuit stemming from an alleged gun attack on Wednesday, July 2, in West Hollywood.
As we previously reported, six patrol cars responded to the Comedy Store after a 911 call was made reporting someone brandishing a gun. That person turned out to be Katt, who was gone by the time police arrived.
Initial reports indicated Katt was in the audience when someone began to heckle him about his height and race. He allegedly responded by going to get a gun to confront the heckler. However, that report differs from the stories told to TMZ by Katt and one of the victims.
The only thing both parties agree on is the incident involved the comedian and four other men.
Katt claims the four were Bloods gang members who harassed him inside the club, then followed him to his car and attacked him. He denies pulling out a weapon.
One of the victims says the incident actually started outside of the club. He told TMZ that he was there with three other men filming a documentary entitled From the Hood to Hollywood.
They saw Katt and asked him if he would let them film him for the documentary. The former Dipset affiliate was not happy about it and told the men no. Seconds later a woman pulls up..Katt goes to the trunk of her car and retrieves two guns. He then allegedly walked over to the car the men were in and smashed the driver side window with the butt of the guns.
The driver provided TMZ with photos of his facial injuries from broken glass and the damaged car.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
“[Katt Williams is] being investigated, preliminarily, for threatening someone with a weapon,” Sgt. Dave Valentine said.
