Video After The Jump
While we wait on Tupac Shakur's bipopic, which has been on hold for a couple years, the icon will be represented on the big screen in a forthcoming full length film about former Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight.
Knight bailed Tupac out of New York's Clinton Correctional Facility in 1995 for $1.4 million while 'Pac appealed his rape conviction. In return he agreed to record 3 albums for Death Row.
During the brief time after his release from prison and before his untimely death in September 1996, the rapper recorded arguably his two best albums in All Eyez on Me and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. He also left behind a treasure trove of unreleased material that is still being released until this day.
The role of Tupac will be played by Gillie Da Kid in the new film. The King of Philly has become a seasoned actor over the last couple years having appeared in Caged Animal, Streets, Ex$pendable, King of the Avenue, Mafia and more.
In November he will star alongside Ving Rhames, Danny Trejo and Steven Seagal in a movie called Force of Execution.
Gillie recently sat down with Mikey T The Movie star to discuss his upcoming role as Tupac.
"We definitely got a budget in place for that right now. I'm just waiting to find out when we shooting," Gillie said. "I already got the script so whenever I get the word that it's time to get busy, it's time to get busy."
Gillie explained that he has put in the work in preparation for the film.
"I'mma transform like Will Smith did when he played Ali," he continued. "We already know I'm G'd up enough to play 'Pac, that was never a question. Who else is better to play 'Pac than me though? None of these f*cking rappers."
