Kevin Gates just released his debut album titled "Islah."
He sat down with DJ Smallz to explain that the album is named after his daughter, doesn't have features because he hates to inconvenience people and breaks down the artwork and some of the songs on the project.
"The reason I chose the name Islah was because Islah being my baby, my first daughter and this being my first album," he said. "I treat the music as if it were my child. The name Islah in Spanish means island. But I chose the Aramaic meaning, which means that it's a spiritual awakening. It means to improve, it means to make better. And my daughter did all of those things for me."
