After Monday night's kickoff in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, Drake's Away From Home Tour is under way. The outing lasts until the end of May, so fans of the 23 year-old performer have ample time to catch and opening acts Francis and the Lights and K-OS on the road. But what about his family from Young Money?

"A lot of the Young Money artists are doing their own thing," Drake explained to MTV News on his opening night. "I know Nicki [Minaj] is recording her album. Gudda is on a run right now.

"It was never brought to me that anybody had the time permitting to be on this tour for two months," Drizzy continued. "Everybody is working on their albums and stuff like that. I love what a lot of people in Young Money have going on right now. But at the same time, I did say to myself I didn't want other rappers on this tour opening up."

Drake also said that he didn't feel comfortable placing his fellow Young Money artists on an "opening" level below him.

"I didn't want to stick anybody in my opening slot," he added. "Nicki Minaj is a superstar, so to ask her to be on [the tour], unless we split the tour and both had equal time ... Gudda, same thing. Gudda has his own things going on. They're my friends, my family, I just don't feel comfortable being like, 'You wanna come open for me?' It's a weird thing. But I love 'em all. They're all doing great things."

"I thought it was a move for women and men and children who feel they weren't good enough," Erykah Badu said Thursday (April 8) about her controversial video for "Window Seat." " 'This is just me, I'm good enough.' I felt it was important enough to do. More pros than cons."

By now, you have probably heard about or seen "Window Seat" for yourself. In the video, which was released on Badu's Web site a couple of Saturdays ago at 3:33 a.m., she goes nude to promote individuality and is shot in the head once all her clothes are off. She falls to the ground near the same grassy knoll where President Kennedy was shot in downtown Dallas in 1963. Instead of blood, animated words that spell out "groupthink" leak from her head on the sidewalk.

The singer said she received support from women such as Jill Scott, Mo'Nique, Angela Davis and Kim from Matt and Kim (the duo's clip for "Lessons Learned" inspired "Window Seat") as well as other celebrity fans. Badu knew the clip would cause a stir.

"I know it was a shocking thing I did," she said. "I expected it to provoke dialogue, and it's an important statement to make. It's about freeing oneself of the layers and layers of things that we have learned as Americans in this country. At the point of becoming naked and individual and free, either you're assassinated spiritually or mentally by the group or worse. The words coming out of my head after I was figuratively and literally assassinated was 'groupthink.' Groupthink is a term coined by Irving Janis, 1972. It pretty much states what happens when a character or person is ostracized for thinking out of what the consensus is. He or she is pretty much thinking [more] with a heart than with loyalty. It's an important thing. It's art. It's performance art."

As much support as she got from friends, family and fans, Badu said certain media outlets lambasted her.

"Art is supposed to spark dialogue and ring an awakening of some sort," she maintained, "especially if it is impactful and powerful. I didn't expect to be demonized, but I did expect to spark that sort of dialogue.

"I put it out on my site at 3:33 a.m. What are the odds that it would spread like that?" she added. "It's something much bigger than me. And it's not over yet. There are many layers to that. You can peel back one or peel back many."

The Grammy winner said she first thought of the idea to go nude in "Window Seat" while in the studio. She started researching nudity in art and came across the Matt and Kim video for "Lessons Learned." She came up with the treatment for "Window Seat" and chose directors Coodie and Chike from Creative Control. The singer said she directed the video and loved the way Coodie and Chike shot. She hopes to work with them again on many projects.

"It was real," she said about shooting on St. Patrick's Day in Dealey Plaza in Dallas. "We only had one take to do it. It was done in one minute and 22 seconds. We sped the music up really fast in order to give it the slow-motion feel. I was walking really fast. Like a brisk jog/walk. I was nude for about 15 seconds of that. It was a brave thing to do. I had a chance to confront a lot of fears in that moment."

Even while shooting and knowing they had only one chance to get things right, Badu had second thoughts. You see in the video there's a part where she goes to unzip the zipper in her hoodie and stops before taking a few more steps and finally unzipping it.

"The first unzip was 'OK.' The backup was 'Should I do this?' " she explained. "Afterwards, after it was all over, we ran."

Although she made a getaway, Badu was charged with disorderly conduct last week and fined $500. The singer said she has not received the paperwork from police yet.

After news hit the net yesterday that Lil Wayne had picked up a job in jail, fans rallied in support of the Young Money head for taking on a new responsibility. Now however it seems that the support may have been misguided.

As previously reported Us Weekly published an "exclusive interview" with his ex-wife Antonia Toya Carter confirming that Wayne had a job in Riker's Island monitoring inmates on suicide watch.

Now however Toya claims that the story is completely false.

Toya completely denies ever doing an interview with the publication and ranted about the false story on Twitter saying,

Good morning tweethearts....I'm angry this morning. Who told US weekly to say I told them Wayne have a job...I never said that to them...people r Crazy!

Adding insult to injury, when asked by a fan if she ever did an interview with the publication she responded simply,

Never did.”

Someone's lying here and I'm willing to bet it's not Toya.

SMH….no integrity.

Fergie, ELLE's May cover girl speaks on fame, gossip, and her relationship with Josh

On curbing her appetite: “I’m not going to lie: There are times I play mind tricks on myself, like that the french fries are poison. With desserts, I’ll let myself have just one bite, but I’ll look like a freak when I’m eating it, like when I did Duncan Hines commercials as a kid, just savoring every morsel.”

On criticism from gossipmongers: “It has hurt me in the past when people say things like how ‘fugly’ I am or how horrible I look. I’ve had to learn not to give it such a high priority in life…. Look, when you’re trying to juggle all of this in your life, sometimes you’re not going to look perfect. I don’t have time to get a facial every couple of days.”

On having high expectations: “For my album, I wanted to arrive at the MTV Awards in a British buggy on hydraulics. It didn’t quite work out that way, but, yes, I have all these big, huge dreams.”
On her relationship style: “I’m a relationship girl, a romantic. When I was younger, I used to be the cheater. I’m not talking about going all the way—I wasn’t doing that in high school! But I’d have boyfriends, and then spring break would come around and I’d be a little bit naughty.”

On marriage to Josh Duhamel: “You grow a deeper love for each other, besides the initial lust and falling in love and all of that. You come to know each other a lot better, you grow together, and it makes you love each other that much deeper.”

LONDON/LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Singer Whitney Houston was released from a Paris hospital on Wednesday after suffering a respiratory infection and she called media reports that she was using drugs again "ridiculous."

After being hospitalized in Paris on Tuesday under doctor's orders, Houston told People magazine she is looking forward to returning to the stage after postponing several dates on the European leg of her concert tour.

"I'm feeling great," she said. "I'm just ready to move on and continue my world tour."
Houston, 46, is expected to retake the stage on April 13 in Birmingham, England, and continue touring through June.

"My health is terrific, but this is a time when I get a lot of allergies
," she told People.

Houston had been due to perform in Manchester, England, on April 8 and 9 but the shows were rescheduled for June 16 and 17. Her show in Glasgow, Scotland, on April 11 was moved to May 1.

She already had postponed a concert in Paris on Tuesday, delaying the European leg of a world tour that received a rocky reception in Asia and Australia.

Houston, one of the top selling U.S. female vocalists of all time, launched a comeback last year after battling drug addiction and released "I Look To You," her first studio album in seven years that topped the U.S. and other charts.

But her performance during her "Nothing but Love" world tour in Australia was panned by some critics and some fans walked out, complaining she was off key, out of breath and looked exhausted.

The negative reports and postponed concerts in Europe led some tabloids to speculate that Houston had relapsed into drug use. She called that "ridiculous."

"At this point, I just don't respond," she told People. "I don't even read it."

The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive

It's been a while since we had Curtis Jackson around these parts in Mixtape Daily. Our fellow Queens native has been on the road for a while, making movies and touring overseas. While hollering at our colleagues at MTV UK, Fif revealed that he wants his Black Magic album to drop before summer is over — oh, and the title has nothing to do with witchcraft.

"I don't believe in voodoo," he said. "But it'll be very addictive. The first time you'll hear it, you'll remember the songs that's on there. It's designed for fun — for listening pleasure.

"I'm not in a hurry," he added about the recording process and release date. "I kind of planned on releasing Black Magic ... I gave myself a goal to try and put it out by the end of the summer, so I'll work that hard on the actual project. If I don't feel it's ready by the end of the summer, I'll just jeep it."

Fif is also going on tour this summer, but said members of his current G-Unit family, including Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo, most likely won't make the trek.

"It's interesting because they probably won't be coming with me. In the U.S., Banks has momentum with the first single off his new album, 'Beamer, Benz or Bentley.' So he'll be out [on his own tour] with H.F.M. 2 (The Hunger For More 2). While he's doing that, it probably wouldn't make sense for Yayo to come with me because his record is almost done now — he should use that time to complete his record and release it shortly after. But I'll be running around."

No Banks or Yayo, but Fif says he will not be alone — he's recruiting new members to his camp now.

"You'll see new faces, because I'm looking for new artists now. I'll sign new artists and take them with me and kinda groom them. I don't specifically say, 'I want this kind of artist' — I look for talent that inspires me, that complements what I do with their own thing. Some of the stuff you can't teach a person; they gotta have it."

While 50 didn't name any specific prospects, but did say he wouldn't mind adding movie heartthrob Robert Pattinson to the Unit's fold. The star of the "Twilight" franchise (50 said he's seen "New Moon") has dabbled in singing in addition to his acting.

"Robert Pattinson. He has a big enough following to be the frontline," 50 laughed. " 'Twilight' ain't no joke."

Not everyone is gaga over Lady Gaga. M.I.A. is not holding her tongue about the pop superstar in a new interview.

People say we’re similar, that we both mix all these things in the pot and spit them out differently, but she spits it out exactly the same,” the “Paper Planes” hitmaker told NME magazine. “None of her music’s reflective of how weird she wants to be or thinks she is.”

Both artists are signed to Interscope Records, but that didn’t stop M.I.A. from lambasting her labelmate. “She models herself on Grace Jones and Madonna, but the music sounds like 20-year-old Ibiza music, you know? She’s not progressive, but she’s a good mimic. She sounds more like me than I fucking do! That’s a talent and she’s got a great team behind her, but she’s the industry’s last stab at making itself important—saying, ‘You need our money behind you, the endorsements, the stadiums.’ Respect to her, she’s keeping a hundred thousand people in work, but my belief is: Do it yourself.”

While the Oscar-nominated rapper, who will release her third album this summer, admitted visuals were important, don’t expect to see her dancing in a prison yard or decked out in caution tape. “It’s not like Haus of Gaga,” she laughed. “Me blindfolded with naked men feeding me apples and shit.”

Gaga wasn’t M.I.A.’s only victim. Ke$ha also bore the brunt of her comments. “I’m more concerned by how someone like Ke$ha can so blatantly copy [electro-rapper] Uffie,” she said. “Everyone’s fine with it. Not a fucking lawsuit in sight.”

This dude named Lin Yu Chun chose a really tough song to sing on a reality show in Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You". I've watched plenty of females try to sing this on American Idol and fail miserably. This is the first time I can ever remember a guy singing it and he killed it.

According to TMZ this was on a reality show in Taiwan "Super Star Avenue".

With Whitney's recent vocal problems she might want to hire this dude to hit some of those high notes from backstage while she lip sings

Apparently the wait was worth it. After several delays, Usher's Raymond v. Raymond finally made it into stores last week, paving the way for a #1 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The disc, which sold more than 329,000 copies, is the R&B singer's third #1 debut in a row, and it knocks last week's top dog, protégé Justin Bieber's My World 2.0, down a notch to #2. The Bieb has nothing to worry about, though, since, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, his second album in four months sold another 291,000 copies, putting him near the 600,000 mark in just two weeks.

The relentless hype over her slow striptease in the "Window Seat" video clearly helped soul sister Erykah Badu, as her New Amerykah Part Two:Return of the Ankh debuts at #4 on sales of 110,000. The only other debut in the top 10 is from country star Alan Jackson, whose Freight Train bows at #7 (72,000).

The rest of the top 10: Now 33 (#3, 123,000), Lady Antebellum, Need You Now (#5, 87,000), Monica, Still Standing (#6, 81,000), Justin Bieber, My World (#8, 63,000), Lady Gaga, The Fame (#9, 50,000) and Black Eyed Peas, The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) (#10, 43,000).

Wu-Tang compatriots Method Man, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah debut at #12 with their Wu-Massacre album (38,000), while Canadian popsters Barenaked Ladies pop in at #23 with All in Good Time (23,000), their first album without singer/guitarist Steven Page, who left the group last year after an arrest on cocaine possession charges. Veteran rapper E-40 lands two albums in the top 50, with Revenue Retrievin': Day Shift debuting at #47 (12,000) and the companion piece, Revenue Retrievin': Night Shift, just behind at #49 (12,000).

It was a short trip to the top for indie duo She & Him, whose second album of bubblegum pop, Vol. 2, drops 22 spots to #28 in week two on sales of 19,000.

Things should be relatively quiet next week, as the only major releases are the first solo album from former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash and a live Madonna CD/DVD.
