The police are one step closer to solving the homicide of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright after arresting his ex-wife, Sherra Wright.
Action News 5 reports that Wright, 46, was taken into custody by U.S Marshals in Riverside, California on Friday, December 15. She has been charged with being a fugitive of justice, first-degree premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Police believe Wright conspired with 46-year-old Billy Turner to murder Lorenzen in 2010. Turner was arrested ten days prior and has pleaded not guilty.
Lorenzen's body was found in a swampy field in suburban Memphis on July 28, 2010, 10 days after the 34-year-old was reported missing. He had been shot multiple times.
According to the indictment, Turner and Wright had previously attempted to kill Lorenzen outside of his Atlanta home sometime between April 1, 2010, and July 17, 2010. A third person who has not been indicted may have also been involved.
The 7-year old murder case had gone cold until police recently found the murder weapon in a lake.
Wright reportedly blew nearly a million dollars of her ex-husband’s life insurance money that was taken out just six months before Lorenzen’s death.
Police are working to get her extradited back to Memphis.
Lorenzen played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers in his 13-year career.
