More Pics After The Jump

Summer Jam 2011 was held yesterday (June 5) in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

More than 50,000 people turned out to see Lil Wayne, Drake, Birdman, Young Money, Chris Brown, Rick Ross, Fabolous, Lloyd Banks, Dipset, Wiz Khalifa, and Waka Flocka perform.

The New York Times showed up to review the event. They ended up being less than impressed with most of the acts, except for a few.

Ross got the harshest review. His set was merged at the end of Lil Wayne's. The Times said the rapper was: "mid-’90s-Versace-esque shirt unzippered; belly and breasts dangling; arms flailing as if he were in reverie."

None of the other acts seem to stand out either, but Banks was given you a glowing review. Both for his perfromance and steady rise to the top of the New York rap scene.

[Lloyd Banks] may have stealthily become the most important rapper in New York — last year his “Beamer, Benz or Bentley” was a local anthem; this year he’s got “Start It Up.” It’s worth noting that major labels have done little for these two: Mr. Banks’s success came after parting ways with Interscope.

The purest New York moment of the night came during Mr. Banks’s set, when Mobb Deep emerged with “Shook Ones Pt. II.” Ten years ago Jay-Z used the Summer Jam bully pulpit to attack Prodigy of Mobb Deep, showing a childhood picture of that rapper dressed for dance class in a leotard. Prodigy’s emergence here — after a recent stint in prison, and with Jay-Z nowhere in sight — was a small piece of turf reclaimed.

Peep some of the footage and pics below.

Video After The Jump

Prodigy's book "My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep's Prodigy" has drawn more than it's share of controversy. Some of the stories revealed have reopened old wounds and gotten quite a few people upset.

The video you're about to watch is reported to be real (I'll let you be the judge of that). It was made by a former affiliate, who speaks about a shooting incident that took place where Infamous Mobb's Ty Nitty was shot by N.O.R.E. This person clams to have also been shot that night a N.O.R.E. goon and says P "is a dead man."

Anyway, check the videos out and tell us what you think.

Video After The Jump

As you have probably heard or saw already, Lloyd Banks gave perhaps the performance of the night at Summer Jam 2011.

Blue Hefner brought of a lot of special guests including Mobb Deep and Lloyd. Then Ryan Leslie, Swizz Beatz & Fabolous joined Banks for "Start It Up" off his album 'The Hunger For More 2.' album.

After the performance I'm sure we'll see Banks back at Summer Jam soon.

Video After The Jump

Former Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was released from prison today (June 6) after serving 21 months for pleading guilty in August 2009 to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, after accidentally shooting himself in the leg in a nightclub the previous November

The 33-year old former NFL star will now try to get his life and career back on track.

If Plaxico, who hasn't played in the NFL since 2008, can get back to the player he once was, there are bound to be plenty of teams vying for his services.

Video And Pics After The Jump

CNN Money recently took a peek inside 50 Cent's opulent Connecticut mansion.

The beautiful 50,000-plus-sq.-ft. residence sits on 17 acres of land. It features about 19 bedrooms, 37 bathrooms, a gym, billiard rooms, racquetball courts and a disco.

Even if you have seen the crib before, it's worth another look.

Video After The Jump

UFC fighter Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is known for being a funny person outside of the ring. During interviews he frequently flirts with female reporters and clowns some male ones.

In his latest video Rampage pretends to teach various Japanese people he encounters, English. Instead he's actually getting them to look foolish by making them call themselves homosexuals.

The youtube clip has about 37,000 views in two days, and is getting a lot of negative comments from people who think Jackson went too far in his attempt to make a funny video.

Watch the clip below and tell us what you think it's just jokes, or goes too far.

Video After The Jump

In his 17 year career rapper Jadakiss has just about seen it all. Even now, as busy as he is with his own career, Kiss still keeps his ears open for new artists in the business.

In a recent interview with VladTV, the 35-year old Yonkers mc gave his opinion on Tyler The Creator Odd Future's first week record sales and Lil B's decision to name his album 'I'm Gay.'

Tyler 'Goblin' moved nearly 50,000 copies according to Nielsen Soundscan in it's debut week. When told about the possible sales figures [final numbers hadn't come in yet when this interview was done]. Jada was impressed. and suggested Tyler could continue being successful as an indie artist.

"That's perfect, if he can do that on a consistent basis he doesn't need the label," Kiss said. "It's all about finding a niche. And your first impression is everything. He started off like that and if he keeps at it, his following and fan base will grow."

Lil B is another artist that has seen his buzz grow recently. His decision to name his next album 'I'm Gay' has fuled a lot of the recent talk.

Kiss weighed in with his opinion of the West Coast rapper, and the controversial album title.

"He's got a nice core following. Some people might says he's strange or he's weird, but he does what he does and he's passionate about it. I think he gonna be aight for himself," Jada said. "He created a good controversy and they love his music as well so that all you need. [As far as him naming his album 'I'm Gay']. I think he's gonna have all eues on him until he releases it. Especially when he says the meaning is that he's happy. He's gonna have some people on his back and some people with him."

Jada lastly addressed the issue of gays in hip hop and whether or not we will ever see an openly gay rapper be successful.

"I see that coming real soon. The gay community has a strong influence, not only on hip hop, but on the world in general," he said. "They're creating their own lane. They're getting stronger. They're doing their own thing."

Big Pun's widow, Liza Rios spoke out yesterday (June 4) via her Facebook page about the song "Big Pun's Back" by Joell Ortiz. The rapper intended for the song to be a tribute to his idol, but Rios doesn't see it that way. She feels the song is disrespectful to Pun's legacy. And to that of his son, Christopher Lee Rios aka Baby Pun Who in her opinion is the rightful heir to Pun's lyrical throne.

Read the rest of what she had to say below, then watch the videos "Big Pun's Back" and "Big Pun" featuring Baby Pun and let us know whether or not you agree with with Rios.

Video After The Jump

We previously told you about Kreayshawn of the White Girl Mob signing a million dollar deal with Sony after her song "Gucci Gucci" became a youtube hit.

A couple of days later she spoke with Complex and clarified things. The Sony deal is on the table, but not yet signed. Other labels are still in a rush to sing the east Oakland rapper.

"We're definitely wanted. It's just basically coming down to who we're going with," she said. "It's like picking a prom date, for life or something. But like I said, So So Def has made a really strong push [laughs]. I'm really close to Jermaine Dupri now."

[As far as the deal with Sony] nothing is finalized yet,” she continued. “We took meetings with every label. They’re not the only people we met with. We’ll make an announcement when everybody is ready, but right now, that’s basically just a rushed ahead rumor. It’s not that exciting. Whatever we end up choosing, it’s going to be a well-thought out decision.

Kreayshawn's sister V-Nasty, 1/3 of the White Girl Mob has caused quite a stir as well. While she doesn't have a hit song out like her sister, she has dropped a couple of freestyles, in which she frequently uses the word n*gga and raps about being a "shooter."

Check out her latest freestyle video below and let us know what you think.
