Jay-Z is honored by Time magazine as he lands on the cover of their annual issue of The 100 Most Inlfuetial People In the World issue. The 42-year old rapper/business mogul continues to raise the bar by making one power move after the other.

Jay Z embodies so much of what makes New York New York. A kid from a tough neighborhood who grows up in public housing, overcomes lots of bad influences on the street, never lets go of his dream, makes it to the top — and then keeps going, pursuing new outlets for his creativity and ambition. When no one would sign him to a record contract, he created his own label and built a music empire — before going on to design clothing lines, open sports bars and, most recently, represent professional athletes. He’s an artist-entrepreneur who stands at the center of culture and commerce in 21st century America, and his influence stretches across races, religions and regions. He’s never forgotten his roots — “Empire State of Mind” was a love song to our city — and as a co-owner of the NBA Nets, he helped bring a major league sports team back to Brooklyn, not far from his old neighborhood. In nearly everything he’s tried, he’s found success. (He even put a ring on Beyoncé.) And in doing so, he’s proved that the American Dream is alive and well.

Rita Ora is living out her dreams. The Kosovo born, British raised singer is signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label and is getting ready to release her self-titled debut album in the U.S. soon.

She looks lovely on the cover of Elle Magazine's "Women In Music" issue. Check out an excerpt from her cover story as well as photos from her shoot with Thomas Whiteside.

On never allowing her record label to dictate her style: "That should never be allowed! It’s like somebody telling you what to sing."

On scoring that red Marchesa gown she wore to the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards: "I went up to [Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman] and said, 'Hi, I'm Rita. Nice to meet you. I need to wear your dress.' She was like, 'What dress?' They've got 10 million dresses. I said, 'Look, I have your dress as the screen saver on my phone. This red dress needs to be on my body.'"

On her childhood idols, the Spice Girls: "I just remember watching them – not even meeting them – and I was completely mesmerized. It feels great to meet someone who is not human, but is."

On her 2009 "big break" with artist Jay-Z who signed her to his label: "I didn't think in a million years that I'd fly to New York to meet one of the biggest music moguls of our time."

Video After The Jump

Jay-Z's new song "Open Letter" has stirred up more trouble than the rapper probably intended.

Obama said, ‘Chill you’re going to get me impeached’ / You don’t need this s**t anyway, chill with me on the beach," Jay raps in the song.

Some took the lyrics to mean President Obama had prior knowledge of the trip that was supposedly approved by the Treasury Department for educational purposes.

12350019852?profile=original

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney denied those allegations last week during a press conference.

The questions continued this morning on Today as Savannah Guthrie asked Obama about the trip during an interview.

“I wasn’t familiar that they were taking the trip,” the president said. “My understanding is I think they went through a group that organizes these educational trips down to Cuba. You know, this is not something the White House was involved with. We’ve got better things to do.”

Video After The Jump

Former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes has taken exception to Complex questioning the video she released on Monday via Twitter.

In a headline titled: "Amanda Bynes Either Needs Help, Or Is Trolling Us All," Complex wonders if the actress has really gone insane or is just putting on an elaborate act.

"So, real talk: Does Bynes need serious help, or is this some intricate, faux public breakdown, Joaquin Phoenix-style?Tanya Ghahremani wrote.

In the video, Amanda is seen posing in the mirror, making weird faces while listening to music.

12350028860?profile=original

Bynes shot back at Complex and even criticized Kid Cudi, her former boyfriend's looks.

@ComplexMag Stop acting like I'm doing something wrong. I'm obsessed with myself on twitter. Also, my video last night was perfection. I'm so sick of the articles u write about me. I want every fake article deleted. Ur dick whipped by my ugly ex @ducidni who's looks and talent have always been questionable to me, him being the ugly duckling that he is and all. U quote him non stop, then take professional shots of him for ur covers, his best photos aren't shit compared to mine at my best. The photo u chose of Aubrey for her cover is awful. You make people look bad, stop acting like you know anything about what men like. I don't stop getting follwed or hit on every place I go. I'm not trying to sing, but if I did (I got offered an Interscope record deal right after I filmed Hairspray which you might know if you sat down and did a normal interview. I still might take them up on their offer) get the facts as opposed to talking shit. My music is going to be sicker then whatever the fuck kind of music Scott tries to do. Stop writing articles without speaking to me first.

@ducidni is Cudi's Twitter name.

Radio legend Troi Torain (STAR) always delivers hard-hitting objective truth. As a culture critic he is vicious, as a businessman he is relentless, as a luminary he is un-matched.

Considered radio pioneers by many, Star & Buc Wild have set precedents on the urban landscape and were recently inducted into News One's "Top 20 Black Radio Jockeys Of All Time."

Star & Buc Wild made the national stage on MTV (1999) but it was their radio show on New York's Hot 97 (2000 - 2003) that secured their place in Hip-Hop history.

Star & Buc Wild's resume includes The Source magazine, MTV Networks, Hot 97, Power 104.1, Power 105.1, Pulse 87, Hip-Hop Weekly magazine, Vladtv, Thisis50, 100.3 The Beat and shot97.com and VH1 (Reality Television).

Video After The Jump

Robert Downey Jr. is paid quite handsomely for his movie roles. He's the kind of bankable actor major studios want in their movies to assure fans line up at the theaters. He recently confirmed that he was paid an astounding $50 million to star as Iron Man in 2012's blockbuster The Avengers.

"Isn't that crazy?" he told GQ. "They're so pissed. I can't believe it. I'm what's known as 'a strategic cost.' "

To put that figure into perspective we have to look at the salaries of the other actors for their roles in the film.

Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) made between $2 million-$3 million.

12350024870?profile=original

Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) made between $4 million and $6 million, which means Downey Jr. made double their combined salaries.

12350025258?profile=original

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide, which is great for Disney and Marvel Studios, but is any actor worth what Downey Jr. was paid?
