Video After The Jump

Police dash cam footage captured the moment Maquoketa, Iowa Police Sgt. Brendan Zeimet nearly lost his life in a gun battle with a deranged man with an assault rifle.

Zeimet noticed 30-year old Aaron E. Scott parked in the wrong direction on the side of the road at 3 a.m. on April 1. As he approached the vehicle Scott exited it with an assault rifle in hand. Zeimet saw Scott's weapon and opened fire, sparking a gun battle between the two.

“Scott discharged his SKS assault weapon at least 14 times and as many as 19 times,” investigators told WQAD.

Aaron E. Scott died from a self-inflicted gunshot following shootout with police.

Zeimet was hit in the forearm and Scott was shot in the leg. The officer was cleared of any wrongdoing following an investigation

"It's not until Sgt. Zeimet gets closer, about 5 to 8 feet away and clears his door and he sees Aaron Scott holding the assault rile," Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations Agent Matt George told KCRG-TV.

After the gun battle Scott hopped back into his truck and took off. He was later found dead inside his overturned truck from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Police say Scott had a history of mental illness and alcohol abuse. He had an argument with his girlfriend the night of the confrontation with police, which may have caused his erratic behavior.

The dash cam video was released Monday, April 14, as part of the conclusion into an investigation into the incident.

**UPDATE** April 14

Album stream added up top. Give it a listen.

“P.T.S.D.” (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) will be released on 4-15-14

With his highly-anticipated fourth solo-LP, “P.T.S.D.” (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Pharoahe Monch re-emerges with a new concept project which finds the ground-breaking emcee tackling PTSD; a severe anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to any event that results in psychological trauma. Throughout the duration of the LP, Monch narrates as an independent artist weary from the war against the industry machine and through the struggle of the black male experience in America.

When Eminem recently name-dropped him (“But I still rap like I'm on my Pharoahe Monch grind”) on his “Rap God” single it was for good reason.; as Pharoahe Monch has been at the forefront of lyrical innovation for two-decades now. Not only is he one of Hip-Hop’s preeminent lyricists, crafting intricate rhyme schemes and intelligent raps, but he is also an incisive political and social commentator, using Hip-Hop as a platform for political engagement as his “Bullet” trilogy hauntingly speaks to audiences in the same dark personification of a bullet.

The first installment of the “Bullet” trilogy was introduced by Pharoahe in the seminal song “Stray Bullet” with Organized Konfusion via the Stress: The Extinction Agenda LP in 1994. The second installment came via his 2007 solo-LP, Desire, on the Mr. Porter produced “When The Gun Draws”. Socially prophetic and politically relevant, “Damage” from the upcoming PTSD (which drew rave reviews from Pitchfork, Complex, RapRadar, Vibe, MTV etc) continues to chronicle the tragedy of inner city killings and mass murder. Although it was penned before the Dark Knight Theater massacre in Colorado and the Newtown School shootings, the song relevantly accentuates the obvious ongoing gun issue in our society and provides a chilling reminder that bullets have no name. Similarly, a then rough-version of Monch’s protest song, “Stand Your Ground,” was released immediately at Monch’s insistence after the Trayvon Martin verdict was announced and added more discourse on the polarizing debates about racial profiling, civil rights and the inadequacies of the justice system. Monch’s social commentary was subsequently profiled by MTV, Vibe, Huffington Post, AOL, BET, Ebony and LA Times.

While Monch is not afraid to tackle the tough topics, the diversity you come to expect from Monch abounds on P.T.S.D., as he is quick to remind everyone that he’s still a “Top 5” emcee on recently released “Bad M.F.” and “Rapid Eye Movement” as he and Black Thought get lucid for a 4-minute exhibition of pure lyricism. Further, Monch addresses the struggle of the hood on “The Jungle” “sometimes we all feel fenced in” and the haunting isolation of addiction on “Broken Again” and the LP’s title track swiftly brings you back to the overall concept of the LP “F*ck you know about struggle/the boy in the plastic bubble/when I drink away the pain I guzzle/my life is like a complicated mathematical puzzle.”

Monch’s longtime collaborator, Lee Stone, returns to the fold to produce four tracks; including “Dream” f/ Talib Kweli and Marco Polo who reunited Monch and Prince Po for a new Organized Konfusion track (“3-O-Clock”) from his recently released project, chips in three tracks as well. Monch also links up with Mello Music Group’s rising upstart, Quelle Chris, on “Scream.” Further displaying his versatility, Monch collaborates with The Stepkids (Stones Throw Records) on “Eht Dnarg Noisulli.”

In related news, Pharoahe Monch is currently on tour in Europe an is planning a full US tour to support PTSD in the spring, check www.pharoahe.com for tour and album updates.

Video And Pics After The Jump

A few London citizens got to see a sight they most likely will never see again on Friday, April 11. A man dressed in a shirt and slacks was seen being walked on a leash down a busy street on all fours.

Passers-by did a double take as the pair calmly made their way down the road without a word being said between them.

Was the man being punished by an angry spouse? Was this some sort of weird fetish or publicity stunt?

12350768068?profile=original

The people wanted answers and took to social media to talk about what they had just witnessed.

12350768299?profile=original

What in the actual f*ck are these people doing? Any answers?

50 Cent recently sat down with Shamara and Laiya from Philadephia radio station Hot 107.9's morning show. The ladies were ready with a ton of questions and their own opinions on several topics.

Topics included Tony Yayo, Young Buck, Rick Ross, Puff Daddy, Jay Z, Kanye West, The Game vs. 40 Glocc beef, Ray J, Steve Stoute, 50's new television show Power, Animal Ambition, relationship with his son Marquise and baby's mom Shaniqua Tompkins.

Shamara and Laiya also wanted to know when 50 was going to revoke Chelsea Handler's hood pass. They took exception with Chelsea's jokes about black actress Lupita Nyong’o following her Oscar win for Best Supporting Actress in March.

The ladies said they might have to put them paws on Chelsea if she keeps it up. Listen to the interview up top to get the G-Unit mogul's answers to everything.

Video After The Jump

ABUJA, Nigeria (Associated Press) — A massive explosion ripped through a bus station during the morning rush hour in Nigeria's capital, killing at least 71 people and wounding 124 in a bombing that marked the bloodiest terrorist attack ever in Abuja.

Nigeria Explosion

President Goodluck Jonathan visited the scene and blamed Boko Haram, an Islamic extremist group which operates in the northeast of Nigeria and which has been threatening to attack Nigeria's capital. One official said he believed the bomb buried in the earth while the emergency management agency said the explosives were apparently hidden in a vehicle.

NIGERIA EXPLOSION

The blast destroyed 16 luxury buses and 24 minibuses and cars, said police spokesman Frank Mba, who gave the death toll.

Survivors screamed in anguish and the stench of burning fuel and flesh hung over the site where billows of black smoke rose as firefighters worked to put out the fires. Reporters saw rescue workers and police gathering body parts as ambulances rushed the wounded to the hospitals. State television has broadcast calls for blood donations.

Nigeria Explosion

Security personnel battled to belatedly cordon off the area as a bomb detonation team was combing it for secondary explosives, a common occurrence here. Thousands of bystanders gathered, ignoring warnings to stay away. While violence has torn the northeast where Boko Haram has killed thousands, the capital in the middle of Africa's most populous country has been relatively peaceful.

12350767489?profile=original

Two notable exceptions occurred when Boko Haram members rammed two explosives-laden cars into the lobby of the United Nations office building in 2011, killing at least 21 people and wounded 60 and when militants from the southern oil-producing Niger Delta in October 2010 exploded two car bombs at Independence Day celebration, leaving at least 12 people dead and 17 injured. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta which carried out that attack has been largely dormant since then, except for some sabotage of oil pipelines.

There was no immediate claim for Monday's bombing though bus stations are a favored Boko Haram target. In March 2013, the extremists drove a car bomb into the main bus station in Kano, Nigeria's second biggest city, killing at least 25 people.

Nigeria Explosion

Boko Haram's campaign to make Nigeria an Islamic state with Sharia, or Islamic law, enforced throughout the country poses the greatest threat to its cohesion and security and threatens nearby countries where the fighters have gone to train and fight.

"The issue of Boko Haram is quite an ugly history within this period of our own development," said Jonathan. "Government is doing everything to make sure that we move our country forward ... But the issue of Boko Haram is temporary. Surely, we will get over it."

In May 2013, Jonathan declared a state of emergency and deployed thousands of troops to curb the violence in northeast Nigeria after the extremists took control of entire towns and villages. Security forces quickly forced the Islamic insurgents out of urban areas but have been battling to dislodge them from hideouts, despite near-daily air bombardments and ground assaults this year on forests and mountain caves along the border with Cameroon.

The military has claimed it has the upper hand in the war, but the extremists have fought back with more frequent and ever-deadlier attacks.

Governors and traditional leaders in the northeast have demanded that Jonathan end the state of emergency, saying it is causing suffering and has not been effective. Some 750,000 people have been forced from towns and villages, including tens of thousands of farmers who had to abandon their farms, risking a food shortage this year.

There was believed to be only one bomb detonation Monday with secondary explosions as vehicle fuel tanks ignited and burned. It appeared the explosives were buried in the dirt ground of the bus station, said John Ahwen, counter-terrorism chief of the National Security and Defense Corps. But the National Emergency Management Agency said it thought the explosives were hidden in a vehicle.

Nigeria Explosion

"I can't count the number of people that died. They took them in open vehicles. People were running and there was confusion," said civil servant Ben Nwachukwu.

Nigeria Explosion

The blast left a hole 4 feet deep (1.2 meters) in the ground of Nyanya Motor Park about 16 kilometers (10 miles) from the city center. It happened at 6:45 a.m. (05:45 GMT) as people were traveling to work.

The deadliest toll in the nearly 5-year-old Islamic uprising came March 14 when Boko Haram attacked the main military barracks in the northeast, Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, and freed hundreds of detainees. Amnesty International said more than 600 people were killed, most of them unarmed detainees gunned down by soldiers.

Last week, Boko Haram suspects detained at the State Security Service headquarters in Abuja, next door to the residence and office of President Goodluck Jonathan, staged a failed jailbreak in which it is suspected that they had outside help. The agency said 21 detainees were shot and killed and two agents wounded in a shootout that lasted more than two hours.

The militants are blamed for attacks in northeast Nigeria that have killed more than 64 people in the past week, including eight teachers living at a boarding school that had been closed because of frequent attacks on schools in which hundreds of students have died.

12350768055?profile=original

Boko Haram — the nickname means "Western education is forbidden" — has been attacking schools, villages, market places and military barracks and checkpoints this year in increasingly frequent and deadly attacks. Its mission is to force an Islamic state on Nigeria whose 170 million people are divided almost equally between Muslims living mainly in the north and Christians in the south.

Aldon Smith is one of the most talented players in the NFL, but at the rate of trouble he's getting into with the law, the San Francisco 49ers linebacker may throw it all away.

Smith was arrested and booked for investigation of making a false bomb threat in the middle of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Sunday, April 13.

According to the Associated Press, Smith became belligerent while going through secondary security screening and threatened that he had a bomb.

12350766869?profile=original

During his arrest, Smith reportedly resisted and became uncooperative. FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said anyone making a bomb threat at an airport could be charged with a federal crime. If that happens he could face a year in prison.

"We are disappointed to learn of the incident today involving Aldon Smith," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. "As this is a pending legal matter and we are still gathering the pertinent facts, we will have no further comment."

Aldon Smith

In September 2013, Smith crash his truck in San Francisco. He was charged with driving under the influence and drug possession.

The all-pro player took five games off last season to deal with a substance abuse problem. He rejoined the team on November 5, and finished the season with 8.5 sacks.
