(Reuters) Two women accused Donald Trump of inappropriate touching in a story published on Wednesday by the New York Times, claims his spokesman called "fiction" but which may further damage the Republican presidential nominee's chances of winning the White House just four weeks before the Nov. 8 election.
The report was followed by a stream of similar allegations from other women, putting more pressure on the Trump campaign as it lags in national opinion polls and struggles to contain a crisis caused by the candidate's comments about groping women without their consent which surfaced on Friday.
One of the women, Jessica Leeds, appeared on camera on the New York Times' website to recount how Trump grabbed her breasts and tried to put his hand up her skirt on a flight to New York in or around 1980.

The second woman, Rachel Crooks, described how Trump "kissed me directly on the mouth" in 2005 outside the elevator in Trump Tower in Manhattan, where she was a receptionist at a real estate firm.

Trump's campaign denied there was any truth to the New York Times accounts. It made public a letter to the newspaper from Marc Kasowitz, a lawyer representing Trump, demanding it retract the story, calling it "libelous," and threatening legal action if it did not comply.
"This entire article is fiction, and for the New York Times to launch a completely false, coordinated character assassination against Mr. Trump on a topic like this is dangerous," the Trump campaign's senior communications adviser Jason Miller said in a statement.
Reuters could not independently verify the incidents. Leeds and Crooks did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Reuters.
"We stand by the story, which falls clearly into the realm of public service journalism," a New York Times spokeswoman said.
The report comes just two days after a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll showed one in five Republicans thought Trump's comments about groping women disqualified him from the presidency, and put him 8 points behind Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton among likely voters.
MORE ACCOUNTS SURFACE
Within hours, several other media outlets published similar reports. People magazine published a detailed first-person account from one of its reporters, Natasha Stoynoff.
Natasha Stoynoff
Stoynoff said Trump pinned her against a wall at his Florida estate in 2005 and kissed her as she struggled to get away.
"I turned around, and within seconds, he was pushing me against the wall, and forcing his tongue down my throat," Stoynoff said.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the People story late on Wednesday. The article included a denial from a Trump spokeswoman who called the story a "politically motivated fictional pile-on."
Around the same time, the Palm Beach Post reported a claim by Mindy McGillivray, 36, a woman in South Florida, that Trump had grabbed her bottom 13 years ago while she was working at his Mar a Lago estate as a photographer's assistant.
"There is no truth to this whatsoever," Trump's spokeswoman Hope Hicks told the Post. McGillivray could not be reached for comment.
CHASTISED BY SOME REPUBLICANS
The reports come on the heels of a 2005 video that surfaced on Friday that showed Trump bragging about groping women, kissing them without permission, and trying to seduce a married woman.
"I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait," Trump is heard saying on the tape.
Trump said during the second presidential debate on Sunday that he had not actually done the things he had boasted about, and apologized for his remarks, which he called private "locker room talk."
The bombshell video has jeopardized Trump's chances of winning on Election Day, and put Republican control of the U.S. Congress in danger.
He was chastised by Republican leaders, and some called on him to drop out of the presidential race.
On Wednesday, Trump escalated his attacks on U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan after Ryan said he was no longer going to campaign for or defend Trump.
Trump complained to thousands of supporters jammed into a livestock arena in Ocala, Florida, that Ryan and others had not congratulated him on his debate performance on Sunday, and the crowd booed in sympathy.
"There is a whole deal going on and we’re going to figure it out. I always figure things out. But there’s a whole sinister deal going on," Trump said.
Trump has largely kept the support of conservative Christians, a key voting bloc he needs to win the election.
"I take him at his word. I think he's a good man," evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr. told CNN on Wednesday.
Former Republican House Speaker John Boehner said in an interview on Fox News Channel that he would vote for Trump in spite of being "disgusted" by his comments, because he wanted to see conservative justices named to the Supreme Court.
The interview was taped before the New York Times story was published, but Boehner said he thought it was likely that more negative stories would emerge in the last month of the campaign.
"What more could be said in this election cycle than has already been said?" Boehner asked. "It couldn't be any worse, could it?"
A spokeswoman for Clinton said Wednesday's report was "disturbing."
"These reports suggest that he lied on the debate stage and that the disgusting behavior he bragged about in the tape is more than just words," said Jennifer Palmieri, a spokeswoman for the Clinton campaign.

The upcoming fight will be Ronda's first since being brutally knocked out byHolly HolmatUFC 193on November 15, 2015.
If Rousey defeats Nunes it could set up a possible fight between her and the woman many believe is the best female fighter in the world, Cris "Cyborg" Justino (17-1-1), at a catch weight.
Cyborg has been calling Rousey out for years. White told Cowherd that the fight will finally happen if Rousey wins in December.

CNN host Brooke Baldwin recently invited Donald Trump supporter Vicki Sciolaro and University of Pennsylvania professor, Shaun Harper, to her show to discuss Trump's vulgar comments about women in a leaked conversation with Billy Bush from 2005.
Sciolaro dismissed the Republican presidential nominee's comments by saying, "If they had known they were being recorded, there's no doubt in my mind their conversation would have been totally different."
She then started ranting aboutRoe v. Wadeand claimed that "Hillary Clinton doesn't care about murdering babies, dismembering abortions. That's okay with her."
Baldwin attempted to bring Sciolaro back on topic, to no avail.
"Wait a second. I appreciate you talking about substance, and that is important Vicki. But we're talking about locker room conversations. My question was about, is it okay that a man who wants to be the president of the free world is bragging and admits to it, and yes he's apologized, to sexual assault," Baldwin reminded Sciolaro.
"He's not running to be the pope," Sciolaro responded. "This is the kind of person that needs to lead our country. God can use anybody. He used the harlots.. When Bill Clinton was president, my children came home from school and they had no idea it was actually called the oval office. They thought it was called the oral office."

Nicki Minaj graces the cover of the November issue of Marie Claire Magazine. The Young Money Records artist is beautifully photographed by Kai Z Feng and sits down for an interesting conversation with Janet Mock about a variety of topics.
On young women's goals: "Nowadays, I feel like [young women] see marrying into money—I think that's a big thing now. I don't want that to be a woman's goal in life. I want your goal in life to be to become an entrepreneur, a rich woman, a career-driven woman. You have to be able to know that you need no man on this planet at all, period, and he should feel that, because when a man feels that you need him, he acts differently."
On competing with male rappers: "I don't need to read a book about [business]. I can look at someone's career and just pinpoint the dos and the don'ts, and the one person I've done that with for my entire career was Jay Z. He did such a great job being an authentic street guy and a businessman, and I was like, Why aren't there women doing that, taking the success from rap and channeling it into their empire? I felt like anything he could do, I could do."
On the double standard that exists for women of color in the media: "When Kim Kardashian's naked picture came out, [Sharon Osbourne] praised it, and my fans attacked her for being such a hypocrite. So it wasn't trashy and raunchy when a white woman did it, but it was when a black woman did it? It's quite pathetic and sad, but that is my reality, and I've gotten accustomed to just shutting it down."
On the people living with violence in our country: "We tend to not remember the black women who are mourning these men and who are thinking, Oh, my God, what am I going to tell my child now about where his father is, and the struggle it is for black women to then move on after they lose their husband or their boyfriend ... The strong women in these inner cities often go unnoticed ... no one really ever puts a hand out to them."
On collaborating with Beyoncé: "Every time Bey and I do something together, I see how women are inspired, and it has nothing to do with how we look. It has to do with how we are owning who we are and telling other women you should be the boss of your own career and the brains behind your life or your decisions or your art. I just love that feeling."

Cathriona White (pictured with Jim Carrey) committed suicide in September of 2015
Jim Carrey has just been hit with a wrongful death lawsuit by the mother of his former girlfriend, Cathriona White, who committed suicide September 28, 2015.
ET Canada reports that Brigid Sweetman filed the suit Tuesday, October 11, at the Los Angeles Superior Court.
White died from an overdose of Ambien, Propranolol and Percocet. The drugs allegedly belonged to Carrey and were obtained with a prescription under the name Arthur King, his alias.
At the time of White's death it was widely reported that she and Carrey had recently broken up.
"I'm just not for this world," White's suicide note to Carrey read, according to E! Online. "I've spent 3 days now in disbelief that you're not here. I can go on brokenhearted and try to put the pieces back. I could, I just don't have the will this time. I'm sorry you felt I wasn't there for you. I tried to give you my best part."
Jim Carrey grieved and helped carry the casket of former girlfriend Cathriona White at her funeral
According to TMZ, Sweetman claims in the lawsuit that her daughter killed herself when Carrey dumped her after she confronted him about giving her 3 sexually transmitted diseases.
The suit alleges that White was told by a doctor that she was infected with 2 types of herpes and chlamydia in 2013.
When confronted, Carrey told White that she got the STDs from someone else. He allegedly called the actress a "whore" and threatened her with "fixers" in an attempt to silence her.
White continued to persist. Eventually the "Ace Ventura" actor told her, "You have become too much drama," ending their on/off three-year relationship.
“Jim Carrey should be ashamed of what he did to my daughter," Sweetman said in a statement to ET Canada. "And he should be ashamed for how he has used his Hollywood attorneys to badmouth Cat’s husband Mark with the hope that nobody will hold him responsible for what he did.
As a family, we want the world to know the truth about who Jim Carrey really is – a man that will give your daughter three STDs, lie about it, call her terrible names and demean her, use his high priced lawyers to try and shut her and her family up, and then give her illegal drugs. Every mother and father that has a daughter should read Cat’s handwritten letter to Jim and decide for themselves what kind of guy he really is.”
