While marijuana use has been legalized in many states, it remains a banned substance in professional sports.
Former NBA star Stephen Jackson believes that needs to change.
"They won't let it be legal until they [can] control it. I smoked my whole career. I had a hell of a career. Didn't miss no games" Jackson told TMZ Sports. "I ain't gon' say it helped [during games]. But as far as coming down after the games relaxing ... yeah it helped. Nobody can play high. Especially in the NBA. It's a high level of competition and guys are great.
"But after the games guys need to come down and relax because it's a physical sport," he continued. "If anybody says they need to be high during a game they don't know what the fuck they talking about. The games I smoked was the games I knew I wasn't gonna play."
Jackson enjoyed a 14-year NBA career. The Houston native played for the San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks, Golden State Warriors, Indiana Pacers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks and L.A. Clippers.
