LAS VEGAS (KSNV) – Prosecutors on Wednesday formally charged former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III for allegedly driving drunk when he crashed into another car, killing the driver.
Ruggs, 22, was arrested after the 2-vehicle collision in the west Las Vegas valley last Tuesday. The driver of the other car, 23-year-old Tina Tintor, & her dog both died.
Prosecutors allege Ruggs was driving 156 miles per hour just before the crash & had a blood-alcohol content of .161, twice the legal limit.
The ex-Raider was released on house arrest after posting bond last week & did not appear in court for a status check Wednesday, though his attorneys were present.
A criminal complaint charges Ruggs with DUI resulting in death, reckless driving resulting in death, DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm & reckless driving resulting in substantial bodily harm, all felonies, plus misdemeanor possession of a gun under the influence of alcohol.
Ruggs could face anywhere from 2 years upwards of 50 years in prison if convicted & would not receive probation.
