Common displays the skills that show why he's going to be a problem for Drake in their war of words. The veteran Chicago rhyme spitta was in Atlanta recently for a Q and A session with fans when he was asked to freestyle.
With music from his hit record "The Light" as the backdrop, Common did his thing coming off the top of the dome encorporating words that are written on cards being held up the event's host. Of course the rhyme wouldn't have been complete without him dropping a Canada Dry line.

It's been over two years since 50 Cent released Before I Self Destruct. Since that time he's recorded a large amount of new material. With so much new music in the vault he's toying with the idea of releasing two new albums in 2012.
Normally when 50 drops an album he tours the world in support of it. In a recent conversation with Forbes, the Queens native said he might forego hitting the road this time around in order to get more new music out to his fans faster.
"This time I'm not sure if I will tour the world like I did on my last projects because it makes my album cycles two years long. So I think I'd like to launch this record, then come right back and launch another record following it," he explained. "It's been three years since my last album, so I've recorded so much material that I'm really excited about trying to get those ideas to the general public so they can get a chance to hear it and appreciate it."
50 also discussed how technology and digital websites like Spotify and Pandora internet radio have increased the need for artists to stay more visible than in the past.
"I definitely think you have to keep your audience engaged a little more," said the G-Unit boss. "Because there is a lot of different outlets and new material that comes out. But it's not from established artists. They're still within the regimen of things that they've been doing. So they'll stay there for a little while. I just feel like because I've created so much I wanna be able to get it out to them. And I'm always excited about the newest idea from myself."
Despite his many business endeavors, 50 says music will always remain his top priority.
"I think that's ambition. I think I'm running through an endless tunnel, and I always find something else to be passionate about and to kind of put myself into. [But] music, there's nothing that replaces the feeling of when it's dead right," 50 said. "Like when you got your finger on the pulse of what's going on and you release it. Because there's not a whole lot of people involved. Because I'm conditioned to write, it's a short process. It may take me 30 to 40 minutes to write the song. So the idea just comes out."

The wheels of justice have turned slowly, but the accused killer of Jennifer Hudson's mom, brother and nephew is finally about to stand trial.
Police say 30-year old William Balfour, the estranged husband of Jennifer's sister, Julia Hudson, killed Hudson's 57-year-old mother, Darnell Donerson and 29-year-old brother, Jason Hudson in their south side Chicago home on October 24, 2008. Hudson's 7-year-old nephew, Julian King was reported missing from the home at the time the bodies were found.
William Balfour
Balfour, already on parole for a 1999 attempted murder conviction, is arrested on the night of October 24.
On October 27, Julian King is found dead in the back of Jason Hudson's Chevrolet Suburban which was parked on the West side of Chicago.
All of the family members died from gunshot wounds.
Prosecutors allege that Belfour flew into a jealous rage because he suspected Julia was dating another man and went to the house to confront her.
He was later indicted by a grand jury on three counts of murder, aggravated kidnapping and home invasion.
Cook County Judge Charles Burns announced Thursday (January 19) that jury selection for Balfour's trial would begin on April 9.
Testimony in the trial is expected to begin on April 23.

Seven people and two companies were indicted today by the Justice Department for their roles in operating the very popular file sharing website Megaupload, which has been shut down.
Indicted were the site's founder Kim Dotcom, aka Kim Schmitz, who was arrested in New Zealand. Company emloyees Bram van der Kolk, aka Bramos, 29, Julius Bencko, Finn Batato, Sven Echternach, Mathias Ortmann, and Andrus Nomm were also indicted by the feds.
ABC is reporting that Batato, Ortmann and van der Kolk. were also arrested in New Zealand. The other two individuals remain at large.
At the center of the indictment is a half-billion dollars in copyright losses the feds allege Megaupload and it's shell company, Vestor Limited have caused.
"The Mega Conspiracy, a worldwide criminal organization whose members engaged in criminal copyright infringement and money laundering on a massive scale," reads the indictment.
It is alleged that Megaupload and Vestor Limited have raked in $175 million dollars in proceeds since the website was established in 2005.
The timing of the indictment comes one day after massive protests against two proposed anti-piracy bills. Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA).
Reddit, Wikipedia, Mozilla, WordPress, Google and thousands more websites participated in the protests.
Below is an explanation of the proposed bills and what they would mean to you if passed.
Let’s begin by first breaking down the first of the two bills that were introduced, PIPA. PIPA is an acronym for the Protect IP Act, and was first introduced to the U.S. Senate on May 12, 2011 by Senators Patrick Leahy, Orrin Hatch, Chuck Grassley. It is also good to take note that PIPA is a re-written legislation, the original being the failed to pass Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA) of 2010.
PIPA, if passed, will give U.S. corporations and the government the right to seek affirmative legal action with any website that they see as enabling copyright infringement whether of U.S. origin or not. Here is a breakdown of all that they will have the power to do.
SOPA is an acronym for the Stop Online Piracy Act, and is a bill introduced to the U.S. House of Representatives by Represenative Lamar Smith on October 26, 2011. In similarity with PIPA, SOPA is a build on a previous legislation. This legislation being the PRO-IP Act of 2008.
SOPA, if passed, will work in conjunction with PIPA. As described by such entities as the Electronic Frontier Foundation, SOPA is nothing more so than the U.S. government and private corporations black list. Here is a breakdown of the power given to the government and private corporations.

Common called into WGCI's Tony Sculfield & The Morning Riot Show today to discuss his ongoing between himself and Drake. Tony asked him about Birdman's comments regarding the situation.
"Drake's the homie, so we ride or die," Birdman told Big Boy's Neighborhood last week. "However the young homie deal with it we behind him 100% supporting him with our life. It's Drake or nothing."
Common responded by saying he has a team of his own he can call up in G.O.O.D Music.
"If it ever got to like teaming up I'll get my squad too," Common told Tony. "You can't forget G.O.O.D Music, Kanye and the brothers, but like i told him [Drake] on the record it's just man to man, one on one. We in the boxing ring as MC's."
Tony reminded Common that a lof of fans will automatically side with Drake because YMCMB is the "cool thing" right now.
"I think you're gonna have that crowd too and then you're gonna have a crowd that sometimes may be into what's going on right now," Common said. "They like, 'hold up, wait.' They gonna recognize as far as rhyming goes whoever is slashing whoever. Whoever is winning they got to recognize it."
So far the battle is one sided because Drake hasn't responded to Common's "Stay Schemin" diss
