STAR talks overly flirtatious cashiers at Dunkin Donuts, The New York Giants (NFL) headed for a losing season, on-going drama with the cable company, skank supreme White Girl Yardie, Adam Lambert performing with Queen, the "Hiccup Girl" Jennifer Mee being convicted of 1st degree murder

Radio legend Troi Torain (STAR) always delivers hard-hitting objective truth. As a culture critic he is vicious, as a businessman he is relentless, as a luminary he is un-matched.

The word legend gets thrown around a lot in hip hop. In this case it certainly applies to both DMX and Rakim. Neither has to drop another album because their places in the game have already been cemented.

Fortunately for us the two are still doing their thing. Dark Man X and Ra team up for this new song titled "Don't Call Me," which features Aleks D. and Shontelle.

You can purchase it now in iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/dont-call-me-feat.-shontelle/id709428580

BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe releases part 2 of his four part chat with Kanye West.

West had a lot to get off of his chest. He talked about corporate America trying to control him, co-creating the set for the Watch the Throne tour, wanting to design basketball uniforms for all Chicago schools, his desire to own a billion dollar company, not liking the song "Gold Digger," classicism, self hate, 'I Am a God," being a futurist, Yeezus not getting radio airplay and more.

Via The Drop FM

New Orleans may be known as the home of jazz, but rapper Kidd Kidd is ready to bring the city’s hip-hop sound to the forefront. With his upcoming mixtape, ‘Street Fame,’ he is ready to bring his experiences to light and represent the G-Unit label, which he recently signed to.

“’Street Fame’ is coming straight from my heart,” he tells TheDrop.fm. “‘Street Fame’ is my life. Every song on there is a situation that is something I’ve been through or experienced. So ‘Street Fame’ is all me. It’s like being famous in your neighborhood or in your town. You know how you got that person that’s just famous, but not celebrity, just everyone knows him. That’s ‘Street Fame.’ I had that before I was in the industry.”

kidd_kidd_50.jpg

Growing up in New Orleans wasn’t easy for Kidd Kidd. From getting shot multiple times to just trying to make it in a city that was struck by Hurricane Katrina, the rhymer knew what struggle was all about, but didn’t let that deter him from achieving his dream. And this motivation and realistic outlook is how he approaches his music.

“Everything I do is inspired by a situation I went through,” he said. “I just don’t go, ‘Oh, I’m going to make a song like this.’ I’ll never do that. When a beat comes on, how I feel that day, that’s how I’m going to write to that beat. So it might be a sad beat. And I go through so much sad and pain, that’s so easy to write about. I’ll do that.”

He continued, “Even if it’s high-tempo beat, a club beat, I would talk about how I would be in the club or things that happen in the club while I’m there. I kinda take that personally and just be real with my music because I’m around real individuals all the time, I can just write, ‘Oh, I’m riding around in my Bentley, drop-top’ and things like that. When I do that, they’ll be like, ‘Yo! When did you ever have a Bentley drop-top?’ and things like that; so I try to keep it me and keep it as real as possible with my music.”

Despite the hard times, Kidd Kidd isn’t always all about the downside of things. When asked about whether or not he was a jazz fan, being from New Orleans, he laughed and spoke of his Uncle Chuck, who raised him.

“I wasn’t into jazz,” he recounts. “I wasn’t really into the jazz thing or nothing, but my Uncle Chuck, I was raised with him. All he did was listen to a lot of music. And he had the tapes. Remember when they had the tapes and you could put a piece of paper between the two top holes of the tape and roll it over? [Laughs] Yeah, he used to have a lot of tapes like that, and it opened my mind up to a lot of things in we have in New Orleans.

“He had a big variety of music. I just always wake and hear certain things that I can relate to, and that’s a good way to make it out a situation I was in because I’m a short guy. I can’t play basketball or do stuff like that. And I had too much of a temper to play football. So music was kind of a blessing for me to get into.”

And now being part of the G-Unit family, Kidd Kidd has the help of 50 Cent. “50’s really helping out and doing so many things because he’s a guy who came from the bottom himself,” he explains. “So he understands. There are so many people in the industry who had a silver spoon and didn’t have the same life experiences coming up. They never really had to hustle to get in or just go through a lot of things I went through. And I’m learning a lot going through the industry.”

272652_vt6o8misb9v06_al.jpg

Kidd Kidd keeps the good words about 50 coming and feels “blessed” to know him. “When come from [the bottom] and you get some money, you probably just want to blow it all,” he says. “But he’s the guy who knows what to do with it and keep it coming. And just knowing 50 as a person, man, it’s a blessing. He’s a good dude.”

Kidd+Kidd+FilmDistrict+Cinema+Society+L+Oreal+J5TmHi8Vmr_l.jpg

While ‘Street Fame’ is fairly new, the artist is looking forward and hopes to release an LP in the near future. “The work just never stops,” he admits. “Why just because you finished a tape, you should stop recording? Right now, you gotta keep it going. Just keep it going. Tupac has been dead for like 10 years, and he’s still dropping albums. But that’s because of his work. He put in so much work that even when he’s not here, he’s still dropping albums and keeping his family free. And that’s where I want to be.”

Pics After The Jump

No matter where you turn these days you're either going to see or hear about Miley Cyrus. Her transition from child star to adult temptress has had a few bumps in the road.

Fans are torn. They either love the new Miley or wish she would go away, but judging from the astronomical numbers her videos are racking up people simply can't stop watching her. "Wrecking Ball" broke the Vevo record for fastest to hit 100 million views. It achieved the feat in just six days, breaking the previous record of 37 days set by her "We Can't Stop" video.

Miley Cyrus, Wrecking Ball

The singer grabs the cover of the October 10th issue of Rolling Stone. She talks about her VMA performance, collaborating with Kanye West. America's double standards and more. Check out an excerpt from the interview and her photo shoot for the publication below.

Miley admits that her performance with Thicke got a little – her word – "handsy." But she makes a good point: "No one is talking about the man behind the ass. It was a lot of 'Miley twerks on Robin Thicke,' but never, 'Robin Thicke grinds up on Miley.' They're only talking about the one that bent over. So obviously there's a double standard." She was especially amused by the criticism from Brooke Shields, who played Miley's mom on Hannah Montana and called the VMA performance "desperate." "Brooke Shields was in a movie where she was a prostitute at age 12!" Miley says with a laugh.

"America is just so weird in what they think is right and wrong," she continues. "Like, I was watching Breaking Bad the other day, and they were cooking meth. I could literally cook meth because of that show. It's a how-to. And then they bleeped out the word 'f*ck.' And I'm like, really? They killed a guy, and disintegrated his body in acid, but you're not allowed to say 'f*ck'? It's like when they bleeped 'molly' at the VMAs. Look what I'm doing up here right now, and you're going to bleep out 'molly'? Whatever."

Miley admits that before the telecast, she was feeling a little nervous. But then she got a visit in her dressing room that made her feel better. Kanye West had seen her rehearsals and wanted to talk to her before she went onstage. "He came in and goes, 'There are not a lot of artists I believe in more than you right now,'" she recalls. "The whole room went quiet. I was like, 'Yo – can you say that again?!'" She laughs. "I just kept repeating that over and over in my mind, and it made me not nervous."

After the show, Miley and Kanye met up at a Manhattan recording studio to work on a remix for his song "Black Skinhead." The next day he sent a text: "He said, 'I still can't quit thinking about your performance,'" Miley says. She also happened to mention that a pair of fur Céline slippers she'd bought were falling apart, and Kanye bought her five more pairs. "Kanye is the sh*t," she says. "I kind of have a good relationship with him now. It's good to have someone you can call and be like, 'Yo, do you think I should wear this?' 'Do you think I should go in the studio with this guy?' 'Do you think this is cool?' That's what homies are supposed to do."

Miley isn't bothered by people who called her performance a disaster. "I wasn't trying to be sexy," she says. "If I was trying to be sexy, I could have been sexy. I can dance a lot better than I was dancing." She knows sticking her tongue out isn't hot and that those weird stubby pigtails aren't flattering ("I look like a little creature"). And she even knows it's ridiculous for her to twerk. "People are like, 'Miley thinks she's a black girl, but she's got the flattest ass ever,'" she says. "I'm like, I'm 108 pounds! I know! Now people expect me to come out and twerk with my tongue out all the time. I'll probably never do that sh*t again."

To read the full interview head over to Rolling Stone.

Video After The Jump

Known for being brutally honest in his lyrics. Drake often references family, friends and ex-girlfriends in songs.

He's at it once again on his newly released Nothing Was the Same album. On the song "From Time" he talks about an ex-girlfriend named Courtney

"The one that I needed was Courtney from Hooters on Peachtree / I've always been feeling like she was the piece to complete me / Now she's engaged to be married, what's the rush on commitment? / I know we were going through some shit, name a couple that isn’t/ Remember our talk in the parking lot at the Ritz? / Girl, I felt like we had it all planned out, I guess I fucked up the vision/ Learning the true consequences of my selfish decisions/ When you find out how I’m living, I just hope I’m forgiven / It seem like you don’t want this love anymore / I’m acting out in the open, it’s hard for you to ignore / But girl, what qualities was I looking for before? / Who you settling for? Who's better for you than the boy, huh?"

It didn't take long for the internet to find Courtney. The questions is, did she want to be found? Especially if she's now in a committed relationship.

12350355870?profile=original

Courtney from Hooters

Spin recently published an article in which they chided the rapper for going too far.

What makes this verse particularly troublesome, though, is its specificity: We get a name, place of work, and location. Throwing those into a song feels mean and vindictive. Immediately, the Internet located "Courtney from Hooters on Peachtree." Her name is Courtney Janell and she works at the Hooters restaurant on Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia. Not going to link to this nonsense, but VLAD TV posted images from her Instagram with these instructions, "Check out Courtney, the hottie Drake shouted out on new album." Hip-Hop Wired accompanied the pictures with this SMH-worthy headline, "Bangin' Candy: Courtney Janell, aka Drake's One That Got Away." Just like that, "Courtney from Hooters" became part of the hip-hop gossip blogosphere and an IRL element of Drake's sad-dude mythos. An actual person, with a name and a job (and social-media accounts) got balled up into the hype for a rap album, and there's nothing she can do about it.

drake-second-club-paradise-tour.jpg

On this morning's episode of Hot 97's "The Realness," Peter Rosenberg agrees with Spin.

"The question is ladies and gentlemen, did Drizzy got too far with the realness? Could he have just left it at there was a girl named Courtney? Not reference Hooters Peachtree?" Rosenberg asked.

The sentiment among everyone at the station was that the rapper went too far.

Drake popped up on the Chelsea Lately show on Monday, September 23, bearing all kinds of gifts. He brought a candle to set the mood, a copy of his Nothing Was the Same CD and toothbrushes.

"I had this moment this morning, it was like I was trying to figure out, like, how I could have a fresh start to my day, and I was standing at the sink and I decided I would throw out my toothbrush and start with a new toothbrush," he said. "And surprisingly, it was like an extremely soul-cleansing experience. So, I stopped at CVS and got you the Oral B variety pack. There's like a solid eight soul-cleanses in there."

Drizzy also discussed Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, appearing in Anchorman 2, his Bar Mitzvah, looking like Blue Ivy as a child, his upbringing and more.
