G Herbo is 21-years-old, and that might shock you. For several years, he’s been one of the biggest names on Chicago’s music scene, stealing the show on Nicki Minaj’s “ChiRaq” back in 2014 after already becoming a nationally recognized product of the city’s drill uprising as Lil’ Herb. In the latest episode of “Open Space,” Herbo speaks on the horrors of growing up in “Terror City,” working hard to be a leader and not a follower, his faith and more.
“I was catching blessings when I didn’t die and go to jail,” starts Herbo, as he discusses his spirituality. “Those were blessings from God. It wasn’t me, finessing, nothing. Those was real blessings.” Herbo grew up in a place known as Terror Town, a neighborhood on Chicago’s South side, and the things he witnessed there as a youth play a prominent role in his lyrical content.
That’s evidenced clearly by the first single off Herbo’s upcoming debut album, ‘Humble Beast,’ dropping this summer. “Red Snow” is a painstaking description of Chicago’s winters, which aren’t frigid enough to cool the streets down. “They stealin’, robbin’, living heartless, never hit their target/ The summer’s long and winter’s harsh ‘cause we got red snow,” he raps on the song’s chorus.
Herbo’s journey to his full-length debut has been long, and it hasn’t come without lessons. Watch him divulge some of them in his “Open Space” interview below.

Macklemore fans are rejoicing this morning upon hearing that the rapper has announced his upcoming Gemini Tour.
The 19-date trek will kick off in Portland on October 6th. Along the way there will be stops in San Francisco, Houston, Milwaukee, Toronto and Philadelphia. The last show is scheduled for November 14th in Boston.

Wreck The Rebel and Verseborn, of KonQuestNow, have already shown that their diversity and versatility is strongly unmatched both past and present. They bring tomorrows sound with their lyrical wordplay while still holding tight to every essence of form that makes HipHop what it is. The two are walking talking thesauruses of rhyme scheme capabilities. Super heroes of sorts in an industry filled with do overs, copy cats and substance-less verses.
With their new single release "No Ones Perfect" or NOP, the KonQuest heavy hitters team up with STP and J. Morgan....and lyrically it is hard to tell one from the next. Each artist holds their own and delivers a first person monologue of testimony. Detailing a life of glorious failure and life changing success, they focus on the fact that we all must learn through trial and tribulation. No One is perfect. We must all expect to fail when pursuing a driven goal. After all, with out ever failing...how would we know when we succeed?
The power of self understanding is thick in the energy of No Ones Perfect. The lyrics alone could hold a listeners attention accapella,...but what would a hot hip hop track be with out the beat? No Ones Perfect is an amazing produced composition created by the multi-talented Wreck The Rebel. He placed some of the strangest sounds and loops together to make one of the most perfectly designed instrumentals I've heard in quite some time. The overall style and format fit the delivery and mindset of each artist individually with out ever changing tempo or style.
All in all this is one of the most powerful tracks released this year. Everything about it screams masterpiece. We cannot praise KonQuest enough for this single. And any real hip hop consumer needs to add this one to their playlist. Keep your ears open for these emcees...because they are on a quick rise to victory...and their KonQuest is Now.

For this episode of Rhythm Roulette, MASS APPEAL met up with one of Atlanta's most influential producers, London On Da Track. As a mainstay of the Atlanta production world, London has played an instrumental role in the development of Young Thug's career, crafting some of the greatest hits in the enigmatic Atlien's catalogue. His time with Thugger has blessed the world with standouts such as "Lifestyle," "About Da Money" and "Check." Let’s also not forget London's work with other Atlanta heavyweights, as he was the mastermind behind 21 Savage and Drake's collab "Sneakin'" as well as countless bangers with artists like French Montana, Gucci Mane, Birdman, 2 Chainz and many others.
Helping to define the soundscape coming out of Atlanta, who knows what the sound of trap music would be without London? True to his discography, London decided to bring the trap to Rhythm Roulette. In that spirit, he took his chances, pulling three records from A1 Records in New York.
London ended up with Phyllis Hyman's "Living All Alone," Rahsaan Roland Kirk's "Blacknuss" and a house record from Jesse Saunders. Making quick decisions, London ends up sampling Rahsaan Roland Kirk's cover of Marvin Gaye's classic "What's Going On."

On August 26th Floyd Mayweather will take on Conor McGregor in what's expected to be the richest boxing match in history.
Mayweather recently sat down with ESPN's Stephen A. Smith to reveal why he has extra motivation going into the bout.
"I just didn't like when he called [blacks] monkeys. I think that was totally disrespect," Mayweather said. "And so, I didn't like it. It didn't push a button to make me jump all out my character and go crazy, but I didn't like it.
"I just thought about all of our different leaders. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X ... that went on the front line for me and my family. And all my loved ones. Like I said before ... this stuff still goes on. But I'm smart, strong, patient. And the same way he called us monkeys, we're gonna see if he says that August 26th. This is for a cause. This is for the American people. This is for all the blacks around the world."
