Video After The Jump

STAR talks Lil Mama's acting in the TLC biopic, the black waitress (Red Lobster) who might be a liar, WSHH CEO (Q) checking Kat Stacks and his new favorite celebrity Jermaine Jackson.

Radio legend Troi Torain (STAR) always delivers hard-hitting objective truth. As a culture critic he is vicious, as a businessman he is relentless, as a luminary he is un-matched.

12349990084?profile=original

Considered a radio pioneer by many, STAR has set precedents on the urban landscape and was recently inducted into News One's "Top 20 Black Radio Jockeys Of All Time."

STAR & BUC WILD made the national stage on MTV (1999) but it was their radio show on New York's Hot 97 and Power 105 (2000 - 2006) that secured their place in Hip-Hop history.

Torain's resume includes The Source magazine, MTV Networks, Hot 97, Power 104.1, Power 105.1, Pulse 87, Hip-Hop Weekly magazine, Vladtv, Thisis50, 100.3 The Beat, shot97.com and VH1 (The Gossip Game).

This clip is from STAR's LIVE show (12noon -- 2pm) on http://shot97.com.

Just as Jay Z is set to launch a holiday collection with high end retailer Barneys things have hit a snag.

The project dubbed "A New York Holiday" will features shop-in-shops called BNY SCC Gallery (short for Barneys New York and Shawn Corey Carter, respectively).

Jay has worked with Lanvin, Balenciaga, Balmain, Proenza Schouler, Moncler and Rick Owens on custom items such as Hoorsenbuhs' 18-karat-gold NYC edition double ring , black leather Balenciaga backpacks, Stutterheim's raincoats with gold snap buttons, Balmain's black square print scarfs, Sagmeister & Walsh's shopping bags, The Elder Statesman's black-and-ivory color-blocked cashmere blanket and more.

The items will be sold at Barneys locations in Manhattan, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago.

“With this project, Barneys New York and I were able to take the slickness, energy and innovation of New York City and translate that into quality, timeless pieces,” Carter told WWD. “Everything that encompasses ‘A New York Holiday’ — the items chosen, the amazing designers that participated, the windows, the design of the BNY SCC Gallery — represents a perfect example of a unique and groundbreaking collaboration that I hope demonstrates how inspiring New York has been to me.”

However, within the last several day two stories of racial profiling have come to light.

Trayon Christian, 19, in his Corona, Queens, apartment on October 22, 2013. Christian is suing Barneys and the NYPD for racial profiling and false arrest after being detained after buying a belt at Barney's store on Madison Avneue in Manhattan. (Pearl Gabel/New York Daily News)

Trayvon Christian

19-year old Trayon Christian told the New York Daily News that he is suing the city and two undercover detectives after being detained following his purchase of a $349 Ferragamo belt.

“It was a quick trip. I gave them my debit card, I signed my name,” Christian told the Daily News.

He was then asked for his identification: “I showed my state ID,” he said.

When Christian left the store he didn't get more than a block away before being stopped by two undercover NYPD cops, according to the lawsuit

“They said my card wasn’t real, it was fake. They said someone at Barneys called to report it,” said Christian.

On Wednesday a similar story hit the press.

21-year old Kayla Phillips said she bought a $2500 designer bag in February from the store. Like Christian, she only made it a block away from the retailer before being detained. According to Phillips, police demanded to see her ID and hassled her.

Phillips has filed a $5 million notice of claim with the city notifying them of her intention to sue.

The store is now catching heat from multiple directions.

A petition titled "Barney's New Slaves" has been started, calling for Jay Z to cut all ties with the company.

Twitter users and celebrities have also jumped into the fray.

Mayor Bloomberg said anyone that feels discriminated against should file a complaint. Kirsten John Foy, the president of the Brooklyn chapter of Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network said the group also plans to picket Barneys if the alleged pattern of racial profiling does not stop

Should Jay Z cut ties with Barneys?

Video After The Jump

The leak of Kanye West's proposal video to Kim Kardashian has been traced back to YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley.

It wasn't exactly hard to find out who the culprit was since Hurley tweeted the clip to his half million Twitter followers on Tuesday (October 22). He also sent it to several news outlets, along with a short press release, according to Vanity Fair.

“the orchestra and lights show in anticipation of the proposal, Kanye down on one knee, the reaction from family and friends, and the celebration and toasting to the newly engaged couple afterwards.”

Hurley uploaded the video on the new MixBit app he created along with partner Steve Chen.

12350402253?profile=original

The leak probably stole a considerable amount of viewers from E! The network is planning to use footage of the event in an upcoming episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

TMZ reports that West and Kardashian are planning to sue whoever released the footage because that person signed a confidentiality agreement.

Will we be seeing Hurley in court defending himself soon? It shouldn't be long before we find out.

In other Kim and Kanye news, several reports have surfaced that the two will not have a long engagement and plan to get married in the very near future.

**UPDATE** November 1

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have filed a lawsuit against Chad Hurley for leaking their proposal video.

According to TMZ, Hurley was not invited to the event, but was somehow able to manipulate his way inside. He was allowed to stay only after signing and posing with a confidentiality agreement.

12350402465?profile=original

The lawsuit states that "Hurley proceeded to try to turn the event into one starring himself, broadcasting the images he knew were the exclusive property rights of someone else."

West and Kardashian say Hurley was desperate to try and get his MixBit venture off the ground by posting the video there.

The private proposal video was headed to "MC Cable Television, which is an arm of Bunim/Murray and E!, which produces and broadcasts Keeping Up with the Kardashians."

The couple are suing for punitive and other unspecified damages.

They are called the G4 Boyz for a reason, these guys are always traveling from place-to-place. Many associate the G4 Boyz for their residence in New York City, but again, look at what they call themselves. This year, the G4 Boyz had a pretty hectic summer, but the fall harvest is upon them.

Remaining one of the hottest independent artists in the game, the G4 Boyz have managed to maintain a bit of focus. They have spent most of the year working on their new mixtape, Control Your Jealousy. With the mixtape, several songs have leaked off the upcoming project.

The G4 Boyz’ hard work has paid off, as they recently signed a deal with the same label who swapped Amanda Bynes’ deal for Cassidy’s. Meeting with the same executive, the duo received a lucrative deal. Upon signing with Chinga Chang Records, a subsidiary, they received a $250,000 advance.

Pics After The Jump

Rihanna's Instagram is a gift that keeps on giving. The superstar constantly updates it with photos of herself in unique poses. In most of them she's wearing as little as possible.

During a recent pit stop on her Diamonds World Tour, the superstar singer snapped pics poolside while in Greece. She flaunts her sexy body in a two-piece bikini while smoking a blunt and soaking up some sun. We certainly approve.

Video After The Jump

J. Cole's success story is still being written, but what he's accomplished so far is inspiring. With nothing but ambition and a dream the Roc Nation emcee moved from Fayetteville, North Carolina to Queens, New York.

Since then he's graduated from St. John's University and released two great albums.

In this MTV special Cole visits his old Queens apartment, talks about his landlord who believed in him, decodes the lyrics to "Crooked Smile," discusses his Born Sinner album, being a starving artist and his college years.

"My senior year of college, and then the 'broke struggle period' of barely surviving and floating I was there. This man let me stack up my rent to the ceiling--thousands upon thousands [of dollars] that I owe for this crib," Cole says. "So went back to this crib, shot scenes there , talked about all about the song 'Crooked Smile' and all about how I made the song, because it really a journey to make that song."
