DMX is still down to try and knock George Zimmerman out in a boxing match, but first he wants to make sure the money is right. X's rep, Domenick Nati, told TMZ that a verbal agreement is in place between DMX and celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman. However, the rapper has not seen a contract yet and negotiations are still ongoing.
Once the money situation is squared away the bout will be official. We should find out soon if a deal has or has not been reached.
It should be noted that Dark Man X was supposed to box New Mexico based fighter Eric Martinez in a match that was to be held in Alabama on December 12, 2009, but pulled out of the event.
Thunder Promotions claims X backed out because they refused to fix the fight. The company later sued him for $1 million.
**UPDATE** January 7
DMX talked to Fox's affiliate in Greer, South Carolina about the possibility of a boxing match with George Zimmerman. He reiterated his previous stance that the financial end of negotiations have not been finalized.
"Well, I was challenged, I was challenged. You know, I still haven't really decided if I would do it. But if I did do it, the money going to him would have to go to charity," X told Cody Alcorn.
One thing the rapper was sure of is that he would put a beating on Zimmerman if the fight goes down.
"I will gladly beat the sh*t out of him," X said.
